How have you guys been killing sharks for the skins? I discovered my favorite way is to run them over with the little Wave Runner.
I snipe them from the beach, then collect the skins. :D

Holy dooly T12, the game looks utterly amazing on PC! I've been playing on X360 because that's my newest console (replaced the one that died in 07), despite having a perfectly capable PC.

The X360 version is not bad at all but if I were to play on PC and try to go back it would be impossible with how amazing that looks. Maybe i'll pick it up for PC some way or another as well :).

I've just been all over since getting the game, but I've finally unlocked the F2000 for free but I've yet to use it - still too busy goofing off.

F2000? I haven't come across that?

Edit - Ah, think you mean the FAMAS F1.

Spent last night getting all my expansions unlocked. Still have to some of the hunter quests for the final skins but make some good headway lastnight. More towers, more camps. Yes, highly addictive. Just one more tower, it's just right over there.... Well, since I'm here, just one more camp..... LOL Glad I'm not the only one complete sucked into this game.

On the topic of graphics, I've been running 2560x1440 for a solid 70+ frames, most the time. I say most the time as I have some serious frame drops down in the 20's. Watch what's happening, my 4 gpus are all at 630mhz, but when the frames drop and the game starts lagging, 3 of the 4 gpus are dropping to around 440mhz. When the gpus go back to 630 my frame rates come back. Very frustrating. To get through the "Burn the Crops" mission, at the village where you have to blow up the boat, I had to drop my resolution down to 1920x1200 so when my gpus would drop out, I would only hit 40 fps instead of 10 fps. UGH.

In any case, I think I have some driver issues with this latest Beta release and quad-sli support, but I will continue to see what I can find. If I can lock in the clock rates, I should be good to go, but haven't found a way to do it yet.

You had to drop your resolution to only 1920x1200?!

My laptop won't even go past 1366x768

Game responds very well to CPU overclock; you might try that.

Sucks you can't get it running 100%.

Oh yeah, got the CPU at 4.5ghz. No issues there. It's definitely in the graphics cards. The 3 GPU's are going into a state where the clock speeds are dipping down to the ~400mhz range instead of sitting at 630mhz where they should be under load. It's weird when it happens, makes no sense to me. If I keep playing, the 3 GPU's will jump back up to 630mhz and my frame rates are back.

At 1920x1200 resolutions on ultra, when all 4 gpus are running at 630mhz, my frames are in the 120fps range.

Well I bought Far Cry 3 last night, started playing it around midnight, and "shortly" after checked the clock on my phone...

04:34... :dunce:

In my opinion, it's a top 3 game of the year, and i've just started! 👍

Started playing, and I just couldn't stop until I realised; Im going to work in a couple hours! :sly:

And that is the exact reason I really can not buy this game. I already know that it will suck me in way too much. :D

Seems to be a bug in the game.
I'm running 2560x1600 almost all maxed out at solid 60FPS, only if I get near one of them online trial stones, my frame rate drops by 20 to 30 FPS.
Next Patch will come fast I assume :D

Yep. Came home at lunch to try some things out. Disabled Quad SLI and just running the one card in SLI. I had to drop my resolution to 1920x1200 but am getting a solid 70+FPS even in fights. My Core clock speeds were solid at 630mhz with no voltage drops. Running Quad SLI, Voltages would drop when the 3 out of the 4 gpu's would go down to ~400mhz. EVGA tells me to wait for new drivers. While I wait for drivers, 1920x1200 still looks good and is very playable, especially with solid frame rates. The graphics don't suffer near as bad as other games in this lower resolution so I'm happy for now. Hope they get the driver figured out soon enough.

Game still looks freaking awesome on the "lower resolution". :D

Is Far Cry 3 using the exact same engine as Crysis was?

I don't know, I just feel from all the footage that it's almost as if Far Cry 3 is looking visually exactly the same as Crysis from 5 years back. Maybe it's because the scale of the game is so massive in comparison to the limited maps you played through during each singleplayer mission.

@Dennisch, Love the illustration. Yeah, doesn't look too bad. It scales nicely.

@Bram Turismo, No. It's a different engine. Revamped from the new engine that was developed for Far Cry 2. I think the water still looks better in the original Far Cry on the Crytek engine then what is seen here. Don't get me wrong, it looks good, but to carry the badge "Far Cry" it should be better graphically, IMO. The Crytek engine is just amazing. Takes some horse power to run, but it is as close to photorealism as it gets. FC3 does not look photorealistic by today's standards.

The game is still fun as hell to play though. :)

Well this sucks...

Far Cry 3 just crashed, while I was in the middle of burning a camp with my flamethrower. :D

Back on it now. :dopey:

HNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG, Pako, wut r u doing. Pako stahp. Pako. Stahp it Pako!

Seriously, I might buy it for pc as well as that looks amazing! Could anyone running it full on 1920*1080 care to tell me what the specs of your pc are?

Im confident that mine should be fine but it's good to have some comparison.

Goddammit I know my wife has bought me this for Christmas and it's in the house somewhere.
Should I snoop around and hopefully find and install it.
Nah couldn't do it, that would be a bit too dishonest.

💡 Perhaps I could trade her for one of her presents I have hidden.

Cheers Shaun.

Well, got it figured out. I forgot after I installed the new driver to reset the power management portion of the driver. In global settings, power management was set to adaptive. Setting this to performance forces the GPU's clock to stay at 630mhz where they need to be. I still get some slowdown during fight scenes, but it is still playable at the higher resolution now. There are still some issues, but they all seem to be driver related now as many others have confirmed.

Here ya go Shaun. A little motivation to start savaging the house for hidden treasures.

Anyone for a swim? The SMG modeling looks funky to me. It shoots a lot of rounds though. :)

If the screen shot looks a little blurry here it's because I was pissing myself.

I thought Crysis looked nothing less than incredible the first time I fired it up on my computer. A good while back I was watching some maxed out videos of Crysis 2 and I was thinking that we'll probably not see a game equaling those kind of graphics for a good while. What an incredible game!

Man this game looks ace. Shame I am broke so no chance of me getting it any time soon.

I'm loving all the stories people are posting. I have a few but my buddies is the best.

He went to take a outpost, he was on the hill getting ready to snipe when he saw a bear in a cage. He ended up shooting the cage and the bear got free and ended up killing everyone and he heard one of the enemies from a distance yell "holy f##%ing sh@t a bear!!!"

hahaha
