👍 Awesome! Pretty fun indeed. I also hit the other island, taking my time clearing towers and bases as I go.

Yup, that's where I am now aswell...

Cleared out 3 radio towers and a couple enemy bases on the 2nd island.

Pretty fun to keep sniping the alarms, and the enemy go like "HEY FRIENDLY OVER HERE!" :D

I'm on 2nd island, finished the first one with everything collected. 2nd island seems to be shorter and have less stuff to collect.

Too bad Hoyt is not on the same level as Vaas. Also Vaas fight was a bit shorter than I imagined. Otherwise I got nothing to say. Everything was so much fun and it even had naked boobs lol.

Pretty much what I was doing earlier.

I decided to take one base undetected, which took a little longer than I hoped once a few patrols decided to pass through. Once the alarms were cut and the heavy guards taken out, I was ready to take the last 3 guys out in a few quick shots from the hill overlooking the base, when I heard the guy closest to me getting mauled by a dingo that came out of nowhere. Then it went on to kill the other 2 men. Sometimes nature can make liberating islands easier.

I do like that the main roads on the south island are paved, but the lack of vegetation makes it look bland in places. I have about 50% of it left to explore though, plus I still have some mission boards left to complete on the north island and items to collect.

There is almost too much to do at the start of the game. I just finished the Dr. Earnhardt part where you're trippin' on dem mushrooms. My backpack is full, I'd wish for more gun slots, my syringe belt is full. So I basically might want to spend more time exploring the jungle and upgrading most of my stuff before I head on, because you fill up your backpack and wallet so fast just by clearing some pirates and looting them and animals, as well as plants.

I have to just say one thing, though. The lighting in this game is spectacular. Not only is the lighting spot on depending on what time of day it is, but there is also an incredible attention to detail how the light is cast and how light is reflected from certain objects. I remember stepping outside of Dr. Earnhardt's house and looking upon this metal object in front of the house that was spinning in the wind. It was evening when I got there and the light that was reflected off this object as it was turning in the sun was spectacular to behold! But then again, I am quite geeky when it comes to these kind of detailed and nitpicky things :p

Haha. :D

Even more fun to snipe the cage of 2 wild dogs with rabies, and watch them go berserk on the enemies.

Figured yesterday finally out, how to unlock the Deluxe Edition DLC.
Played the Lost expiditions, which feels a little half hearted compared to the main game. The Monkey business is quite fun.
Not really sure if it's worth the money though, if you don't play online.
A DLC in the caliber of the main story would be great.

Sure you weren't still under the influence of the mushrooms? :sly:

I know what you mean, driving off in a jeep after a gunfight, the sunlight continued to flicker off the remaining windscreen shards as I went through dappled sunlight.

The thunderstorms are spectacular and some of the sunsets just make you stop for a moment.

Not sure how you can say that after a week - having failed to save my progress on the first day (very tired at the time and not thinking straight) I found the rerun was quite different with new spawn patterns and such. There is also the Map Editor, which whilst technically mostly useful for MP is also good for co-op.

Give it time.

I was reffering to the Deluxe Ed. DLC, because many things are for the multiplayer.
And the SP part of the DLC didn't blow my away yet either (compared to the main story).

The game itself was more then worth it's money already ;)

I.have the insane edition and I love it, I enjoyed the 2 dlc mission strands although monkey business was best. You get a flare gun, tat editor for online. Everything else is for single player. Singleplayer, 8 missions, 3 rare predators, Exclusive M700 rifle, hand crafted tribal dagger then the survival guide book, wahine And the very cool fabric " steelbook". And I might have missed something: )

Does one of you guys know if it's possible to continue playing (on the same save slot) after having beaten the game? Just curious.

Yes; after you finish the story you return to free roam so you can continue with any quests you haven't completed. You're given a choice at the end which determines the outcome of some of the characters... Pretty much just different cut scenes... Either way you return to free roam.

Sometimes the game make me thinks about a modern version of Indiana Jones. There is some truly cool place to visit. It's too bad you can't revisit the Pagoda underground unless you redo the whole game.

I think the content is the same of both editions, though I didn't find the rare predators yet.
But on the other hand for 10 bucks more, compared to the normal version, no real reason to complain :D
I was just a little disappointed from the lost episodes, expected a little more.
But I'll just play the story another round ;)

Looking forward to trying some multiplayer. If they put some effort into it, they could make some great DLC for this game that would keep players happy. More than just a couple missions, but full on expansion packs. I have really enjoyed this game that I am taking my time to completion. I don't want it to end. Home the modding community gets a hold of it.

In any case, my new objective is to capture every pirate base without getting detected. The 1500 exp bonus is nice and I love picking them off one by one from a hill side. :)

Anyone go through any of the coop stuff yet?

Ahh, sorry about that - I misunderstood.

Running around sniping the pirates with a silenced sniper rifle is so much fun.

Having a little bit difficulties with the sneaking part, though. Not in general, but with the guards that are grouped into pairs of 2 and facing each other, so I cannot stealth kill them without aggro-ing the pirates. Same goes for the bases with dogs. I did buy a silenced handgun, though.

Using some strategy to remain undetected and stealth killing those WANTED quests and luring guards by throwing rocks can be so rewarding, though. Massively enjoying this game so far! 👍

Imagine if Solid Snake was left marooned with these guys...

Funny thing is, every time I use a syringe my brain plays the sound when Snake ate something that he liked in Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater. "Ahhh, it's gooood!"

Good times, good times.

Yes, rock tosses are invaluable for those two facing guards. The ninja skill that you can learn is also great. Being able to walk/run silent and moving fast in the crouch position is also very helpful. Silences sniping and picking off pirates has been most rewarding. Sneaking around getting all knife kills without being detected is also greatly rewards, but exponentially harder on later bases. :)

Talking about skills, there seems to be a cap depending on how far you've come in the game?

Also, are these skill points wasted when you have capped your available skills and you keep levelling up? I gained two skills points, but I've maxed out everything that is currently available to me and I swear the next time I went into my skills menu I only had 1 skill point available...

I'm having more fun sneaking my way into pirate bases and wiping everyone out Crysis style. But it seems I'm forced to play through the storyline on a regular basis in order to have an upkeep of skillpoints available to me.

Yeah, the bases on the second island get quite difficult to stealth takedown.
But even more rewarding when you, without anyone noticing you, took out what felt like a complete army.
Btw, this online trials of the Rakyat are really fun, and you can train a little your chain takedown skills ;)

There is one trial where you have this, I think Pirate Beheader (the guys with the lightning over their head and machete), rushing towards you, and you have to defend yourself with a shotgun.
The reloading takes so long, that after the second guy I just kept stringing chain takedowns and throwing knife takedowns together.
So awesome, felt like I'm Jason Bourne :D

Throwing knifes? Does that require a skillpoint or have I missed something?

There is a skill, that after a takedown, you can take the knife of the guy and throw it to the next one.

I think so, yeah. I have 9 skill points left right now and there's simply nothing left that's appealing to me. I have yet to speak with Citra, so I'm not that far into the game I think.

Some skill tree sections become only available after you proceed in the story and unlock the previous skill.

I made it to I think chapter 6 last night. Some of the missions are a blast and really intense. I just cant get over how much better this is than the other FC games. By far the best FC that has been created. 👍
