I quickly run out of incentive to talk about even the most impressive story based singleplayer games. One time through and I'm done (and with many games I have an unfortunate habit of not even finishing them, but at least I've gotten my purchase habits a bit more in check - though I still make the occasional "should have known better" purchase, most recently Uncharted 4, which while no doubt a great game, the action adventure genre is just not for me).

Much more to keep talking about with games I keep playing for months, which is typically racing games, online shooters and certain very large single player games that keep adding content or new features (eg. Witcher 3 and Fallout 4).

True enough, I suppose this having no MP will have an effect as to its longevity - though multiple play-throughs should be possible, as there looks to be an open variety, as usual, of how each objective is tackled, or indeed which order the missions and side missions can be taken on.

Regardless though, I still would have thought that not everyone would be the same and there'd be those out there who do like to talk about games and would have been adding the occasional comment or screen shot for this: with so many games out at the moment, most probably got partway in then embroiled in other games.

Having become carried away exploring along the southern boundary, it took me until yesterday to find and talk to the shaman - I must say the whole Owl use thing is very well done and now that I have a Wolf, life is a lot simpler with regard to getting thirty feet without be attacked by first one creature, then multiple ones and of course rival tribesmen.

Even after a few days away from the game, I'm starting to recognise where I am in relationship to everywhere else now. Nice to see how your village grows whilst you are off dealing with missions and exploring.

The PS4's screen captures will probably benefit more from a no-HUD approach, but as I wasn't brought up living the Mesolithic life, I'll wait until my second play through when I hope to be able to capture more active images on the fly :)

Just entered the northern cold lands - nice adaptation of the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 idea. I also now have a Sabre-tooth companion and a Cave Bear. Really great attention to detail with the animals and their characteristics. I actually clapped with something like glee when I used the sleep function and woke to see the Sabre-tooth stretch and yawn just like one of my cats.

I had a longer sojourn in the frozen northlands yesterday and today and capped it off with a long trek southwards to meet
Hurk's primal ancestor...
Still so many places to explore and the various regions each have their own feel.

My pet Honey Badger suddenly decided to have a quick nap whilst I was stood around for a moment - they are definitely too cute when they are your friend, though still a tad psycho...just try and pet one, you'll see what I mean.

Almost 50% of the way through now - that's most of the north explored but still with loads of side-missions to do. Still loving the change of pace when taking enemy camps and using both Owl and Sabre-tooth in conjunction. The Honey Badger is damn useful too, though a bit of a chaotic ally...

Not sure if it's a product of my connection (lately been very varied) but I've experienced two missions where the target village had no enemy occupants. The first was Dah's Bone Dust mission where only the shaman was in the village - I initially put that down to the rest possibly having been lured out by a beast attack or rival tribe attack, or combination of the two. I've seen that in FC2 before, where the patrols would get side-tracked and leave their base unguarded for a while.

Then I had a similar thing happen when doing the second Ukri mission (looking for the special stones.) My owl spotted plenty of enemy, but then they just vanished. Has anyone else experienced this?

EDIT: Also, amongst all of the Easter eggs in the game, no one seems to have commented on the background sound of the title screen - it sounds very much like a Cylon Base ship, which would be a nice nod to BSG if it is actually the case.

Word of warning to anyone who hasn't taken Ull on yet - if you want to explore the caves fully, do so before taking him on - they've done the usual FarCry thing and made Ull's cave inaccessible after the mission is completed.

Eh? I've played Far Cry 2, 3 and 4, and I can't think of a single instance where a location has become inaccessible after reaching a certain point in the story.

The Temple on northern island in FC3 as well as the final fortress on the southern island once you'd escaped - and I seemed to remember limitations around Pagan Min's palace and the fort guarding it after completing the final showdown.

True, FC2 was fine and I should have specified 3 onwards, apologies.

As, yes, but only the inner compounds where you confronted Vaas and Hoyt. Otherwise, they were completely accessible.

That's right, but like Vaas' and Hoyt's compounds, there wasn't much that you missed and no real reason to return. It's not like Final Fantasy VIII where large sections of the game world were closed off once you reached the final disc.

True, not like that but I do enjoiy roving about old haunts and I was sure I'd missed picking a few things up at Hoyt's place.

Ull's though gets a complete cave-in - luckily not the case for the cave complex
where you get hauled off to by Ull earlier on in the game and need to escape from afterwards.

Managed to get up on the rocks and go for a stroll off the map. It's quite amazing how much detail is up there, including trees, rows of standing stones etc. I would post pictures up here, but GTP is being a pig again about uploading more than one image. I might create an 'out of map' folder for Flickr - if so, I'll link directly from there.

Nice need to try that too :)
Just got the game 3 days ago, so lots to see.

Oh, you have definitely got lots to see. I'm at around 77% and have hit 80 odd hours and there are still places I haven't been yet. I think there is also an out-of-the-map area just north of Takkar's caves.

With the three languages being based on what Proto-Indo-European may have sounded like before coming into existence, I keep thinking that I'm hearing certain recogniseable words; though I'm sure that 'Sandwiches!' isn't really an ancient warcry

Any other favorurite mis-heard words or phrases from this game out there?

Tried a few screen captures in action - think I'm going to have to save replays and work from there instead. Still, these aren't too bad.

I got this game for PC during a steam sale, and just installed it this morning. I started up the game and after setting up my graphics options, I noticed there was no audio for the menu. I checked audio options, and only found master Volume which was at 100% and music on/off which was on.

I decided to start the game anyways, and the opening cut scene immediately had audio. "Awesome," I thought. Then the first in-game sequence started. No audio what-so-ever! At first I thought it's because we are hunting, and the controller was vibrating as a heart beat. Then an NPC started talking to me. So . . . absolutely no audio in game.

Does anybody know how to fix this? I glanced one forum saying you had to disable 5.1audio and lower the quality. . . if that is the only option, i'll probably have to refund the game.

Having put off the final confrontation because I didn't want to finish the game, I finally accepted that I really should do so after all this time. Also, Watch Dogs 2 came out and that distracted me somewhat.

Still plenty to do though with side missions in all areas.

Played through this over the last few weeks. If not for the credits rolling I would not have realised I completed it!

That's only the story part of the game though, still plenty of enemies and things to do, although the 'help the Wenja repel invaders' can get very repetitive with regard to the location.

Yeah frankly I bought the game to ride Sabertooth Tigers and mess things up but the whole mechanic felt a tad rushed.

Basically add more petting animations. :D
