This year my favorite concept car would have to have been the Pontiac Solstice.

My favorite of all time that I've ever seen would be the Cadillac Evoq.

Ha ha! I saw your name in the "new posts" column and immediately knew you had posted about the RX-Evolv! Ha ha ... that's great.

I think the Hideout is cool, and if I had buckets of cash laying around I'd probably request that one be built special for my sister even before they finalized the design. The concept is really cool, and it just reminds me of her style (:

The RX-01 was weird man ... I don't know where that thing came from, but it's not Mazda's classic style at all. I think they outsourced that design, or all their designers were high on something at the time. I've not been a fan of it since the begining.

The RX-8, hope to own one (in blue) (:

Oh, what kind of engine did they put in the Hideout? It was a small V4 wasn't it? It would be great for a rotary, due to it's small size and weight. Or even if they made it a hybrid, that would be cool. I REALLY want someone to do that with a rotary engine.

It's a 1.3 liter I4. On the site, it says that it has a good amount of torque, but there's no numbers to support it.

I got more Concepts to list:
MP5 (Miata Hardtop with more performance)
MP6 (626 type car, with more power and AWD)
Mazda Nextourer (sorta like the Audi all road)

And I just found out that Mazda has released a Cosmo 21 concept car. Looky here:
1-1-4051.jpeg

It says that it has the Renisis in it, and it's based on the Miata platform. It's supposed to resemble the 1967 Cosmo. It's pretty cool, and with the 250hp, it should really move.

I got that off of the AutoExpress site, and they have several other nameless Mazda concepts. Somethin' freaky goin on at Mazda.... :nervous:

First off, that car is butt-ugly in my opinion. The Cosmo was bad from the very begining. The Japanese just don't have a nack for that style of car.

Second, do you think Ford has anything to do with this? I'm sure they've realized the greatness of the WRCE and are pushing the guys that know it to design more cars to put it in. Hopefully it will spread and be more widely accepted in the United States. I'm pretty sure Ford wouldn't have the audacity to put it in a Ford branded automobile for fear of pissing off Mazda Rotary fans. And I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to piss off their American Ford Muscle fans (Mustang, Bronco ...) either by doing something like that. They probably know it has potential, but will build the acceptance under Mazda's name before opening it up to a broader product base.

Well ... wishful thinking on my part anyway ... (:

I think the Cosmo looks nice. It looks like the old one, but so does the GT40. And it's fast.

I think Ford is letting Mazda out of their cage, and not dictating everything Mazda does. I also thing Ford should cut the alliance between them. But they would never do that: Mazda is going to make big money with the RX-8, 6, and a new RX-7 that's supposed to come here in 2004, and Ford needs the money.
