this may be a repost but im new here so i wanted to see who were your favorite F1 drivers?...didnt post a poll because there are so many choices but he doesnt have to be currently driving or anything, just fav driver...

this is a difficult decision but i would have to say growing up i was a Ayrton Senna fan and a Mika Hakkinen fan...to be honest im a driver myself, albeit in lower rungs of motorsport, so its difficult for me to really like other drivers...

Gilles Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher

Gilles Villeneuve's crash is pretty big, it's disturbing seeing his body fly out of the car, from what I've read he was alive and conscious until he hit the post. :indiff:

Favourite driver of all time would be Fangio, he was one of, if not the bravest driver ever to grace the ranks of F1, his performance at the Nurburgring in 1957 was just incredible.

My favourite current driver would be Webber, not just because he's an Aussie, but he has the ability to make his car seem incredibly wide e.g. Bahrain

Current: Jarno Trulli, Kimi, JPM (in that order)

Classic: Jean Alesi, Jacky Ickx and of course Fangio

I don't really have a favorit but I like Trulli and Ralf the most out of the whole pack, for the "classic" drivers it would be Jacky Ickx since he was a great driver and living in Belgium :sly:

Cheers,

Always been a fan of Alain Prost and Damon Hill. Haven't got a real favorite with the current drivers... but I think Montoya is kinda cool ;) With his south-american passion he can certainly create some fireworks on the track :D

My current favourite drive has to be Fernando Alonso. Very, very fast driver, we could be looking at the next M. Schumacher here.

As for classic drivers, my favourite hands down is Gilles Villeneuve. The guy was a madman! He must have been really entertaining to watch; although he wouldn't even be able to compete in F1 today given his driving style.

I wasaobut to say the same thing about Fangio's performance at the nurburgring in 1957. I think his comments after the race was 'Today i did things i never want to do again'. or somthing like that.

Obviously I'm partial to Webber, but i also becuase of the fact he was able to do with slow cars wht others coulnt, he hasnt yet been great with a top line team but i reckon jsut wait. I always liked Coulthard as a driver, dont know why, he hasnt even won anything really. One i dont really like that much is Montoya, sure you can be an aggressive driver but what he does sometimes i think jsut aint racing, he forces other drivers to either make contact possibly ending both their races or go off the track, you should at least give a car length racing room, if they've got the inside line heading up to the next corner you cant jsut force em off the track cos you dont like it.

I agree with you about montoya, he is one of my least favourite drivers on the grid for the reasons you have stated

senna and trulli. i like schumy too, but i always got bored from watching him win all the time.

I grew up watching Ayrton Senna race, so he´s by far my favorite. About the current drivers, I tend to support my country´s drivers, so Barrichello and Massa are the ones. But talking about skills, Schumi is the best out there at the moment.

Yeah, here is a great read about the Nurburgring race in 1957 👍

My favoured F1 drivers would probably have to be:

Alonso: He's a fast driver who worked his way up from the bottom
Webber: A more technical driver who also worked his way up from the bottom
Jenson: For bringing the BAR Honda into podium scoring positions, however this year he has been quite a pain. Giving a tongue lashing to the staff won't generally help.
Irvine: He brought a sense of fun and excitement with him.
Senna: The classic great racer.

Drivers I dislike.
2005 Minardi & Jordan Drivers: Failure to let a faster driver through until the very last split second. I am waiting for the day one of these 4 drivers will cause an accident by not letting a faster car through earlier. I know it's going to happen I am just trying to pick a grandprix. My bet is monaco.

Pizzonia: He *****es more than all of my ex's combined.

Uh, he never did that. We all knew that he was not the favorite one to get that sit. He had a good chance for being their test driver already, but BMW is the main sponsor and they wanted a driver from Germany.

Ayrton Senna...

He was and allways will be my favorite.

The drivers from this year are all my favorite. But for some reason I don`t like Michael Schumacher (his way of wining or trying to win in Australia 1995 and Jerez 1997).I respect all other drivers just as the same.

well maybe guranteed was the wrong word...he stated that he was "top of the list" and that the only thing stopping him from getting the race seat was the CRB's decision (about Button joining Williams)...as for Heidfeld i dont agree with you that because he was German he got the drive, he was and is simply a better driver than Pizzonia...im sure being German didnt hurt either but if you look at the tests conducted by Williams he was clearly the better driver...

ps. here is a link to pizzonias article...

My favorite is Lauda, especially when I think about his crash in Germany and how he came back and almost won the championship. In 1984, he won the championship by half a point from Prost. McLaren dominated with the Porsche engine.
Senna is high on the list as well.

I also agree Heidfield is better. More experience and not just that but he has SHOWN pace in racing. Let's look at Pizzonia's races for Jaguar and well they aren't so good.

He ruined it for himself last year when before one race weekend he said that Jaguar always gave better equipment to Webber and that he was better, then Webber went and bet him in the race when Webber was in a Jag & Pizzonia was in a William's. Trying to pursuade Williams he was better & then it backfired big time

Ayrton Senna, Gilles Villeneuve, Mika Hakkinen, JPM.

Senna: not only because of his driving abilities, but also his great personality. Even 11 years after his death, he is still very missed.
Villeneuve: Prince of Destruction. Incredibly gifted driver. I've read his biography and it's full of wonderful stories about thrashing rental cars and being unbelievably fast. Remember the wet practice session at Watkins Glen in 1979? He was eleven seconds faster than anyone else!
Hakkinen: he crashed in '95 and almost died. Most people would have stopped racing, but Hakkinen didn't. And he became World Champion. Twice. A hero.
Juan Pablo: Latin spirit. I don't know if he'll ever be World Champion, but that doesn't really matter. The man can drive.

Honorable mention: Fernando Alonso. Will he be Champion this year? He is growing up very fast...
