awd... superior handling.. under acceleration? "yeah, ok"

sorry to refer to my project
but i gained too much knowledge from it.....
when under acceleration, any car's front tires and suspension is unloaded.. how the hel| do you expect to be able to turn nicely when your front tires are light....
however, a FR layout would be better... because the front wheels only turn, they don't accelerate...
part of the reason why FF sucks is cuz the front wheels have to do everything

edit: don't offend me, i'm just stating my opinion

edit #2: also refer to the GT manual where it says tires can only maintain 100% traction, when it goes over, you skid
:p
when your car accelerates, some of the traction is used for acceleration, leaving less for turning :p

I just think that it's pathetic that dodge needs a 8.3L V10 to produce 500hp>

Good grief people, the title is "Favorite Vehicle Manufacturer?", not "Which Country Are You Biased For/Against?". Honestly, does every conversation have to spark into an "American vs. Japanese" war? Get a grip of yourselves. And, take note that using the word "Japanese" is considered highly offensive due to its use during WWII.

Anyway, back to the intended subject...

My favorite manufacturers (in no particular order) would be Tommy Kaira, TVR, and Lotus. Here's why:
  • Tommy Kaira- Both of their cars are winners... the ZZ is a lovely little thing with great handling (though I'm not too fond of the styling). The ZZII is a great, high-powered beat that, while it understeers more than I like, is nonetheless an awesome machine, and it's got style to match!
  • TVR- All of their cars get big kudos from me. The Griffith, while is could use some more grunt, has beautiful handling. The Speed 6 is in a class of its own-- polarizing styling, powerful engine, snappy handling, easy to love when drivin' right. And, of course, the behometh Speed 12, which too is in a class of its own. I mean, how many cars in its speed category can boast such wonderous styling and a FR platform?
  • Lotus- I'm quite fond of small cars that take advantage of light weight, so the Elise is a winner with me. The ZZ has more engine, but the Elise beats it with the best stock suspension in almost any car. 👍

I dont know about American or Japanese cars, but I think all Naturally Aspirated cars Suck.

My favourite manufacturer in the game would be TVR.

i dont think tvr makes one turbo or supercharged car, lol.

and no askia, i am not really suck. hahaha. if gt3 is at all like ral life than it was proved a while back that the z06 beats the r34 gtr on all of the tracks we tried. at monaco it was about 5 seconds quicker i think.

jdm type r, how do you know they NEED an 8 liter engine to make that power? Do you really think a company as big as that doesnt know how to make a small efficient engine? Come on. Look at the turbo neons. do you want to see an engine like that in a viper, except with the boost way up? Im sorry but i dont think dodge is going to come out with a 3 liter turbo engine that makes 500hp, because thats completely away from their roots. I dont care what you say, but vipers ****ing growl. It feels like an earthquake when one goes by. No 3 liter turbo engine does that. For that i think they are original. And who cares if it has a v10? Its definately not hurting anyone.

i never started a war. i never womped on a certain country. i never did any of this bull you people are saying. where do you get this??

JDMTypeR made the dumbass remark, "American cars do Suck!!!!!!!!" if i have to explain it all again to you, i will:

let's analyze the statement: he thinks American cars suck. why? he doesn't know. how? he doesn't know. they all suck. he thinks it's pathetic that a Viper needs 8.3L to produce 500bhp, and that apparently means that every single car ever made by the United States is bad. American cars have a tradition of being cool like that, big displacement and all; it’s not that they have to be, it’s because that is what the public wants. in saying what you have, you display a horrendous misunderstanding either of the English language, or the world around you. i am defending American cars, because not all of them suck. the 1986 Ford Escort station wagon, the 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier, and a host of other cars that were not meant to be fast, suck. some sports cars do, as well: the first Corvette ever made was a V6 econobox, like the musclecars of the mid-late ‘70s. the Mustang SVT Cobra R is a fast car. the Shelby GT500 is a fast car. the Corvette Z06 is a fast car (oh yes, and how the heck would a stock R34 (which, by the way, would cost almost $300,000 in the US, since you have to import at least 3 of them at a time, per customer) beat a Z06 in a road race? “superior handling” does not come from AWD). The Nissan 350Z is a fast car. the Honda S2000 is a fast car. the Subaru WRX is a fast car. both countries, along with most other car manufacturing powerhouses, produce both wonderful and horrible vehicles.

my message is that not all American cars suck. and no country is better than the other, being as it is impossible to compare compact, lightweight high-compression turbo engineering with gas-inhaling, Detroit iron, brute force design.
my apologies to both JDMTypeR, for and closed-mindedness i may have exhibited (you’re still inconclusive), and to anybody else who was either offended by something i said or misunderstood it.

the manufacturer that i like are BMW's and all of the high-performance Japanese cars.

the best car out there is the 1978 Porsche 928. although it's old, it's still a good car :)

I read all of this thread and everyone has their preferences.

Referring to advanR's second paragraph (post 35) it does depend on your driving style whether or not the car is faster, all though i think that is probably right.

Good call dodge the Viper: skill is better than speed

Yep, heh :)

Mitsubushi and RUF are probably my favourites

If I could build street racers, then it would be Honda.
But since i can't, i would have to say either Dodge for the Viper Concept or Lamborghini for the Diablo JGTC :D

European cars are fast and elegant and are excellent at speed and fun!

Clear as day however ....American Cars suck badly. A Trueno AE86 could beat a Mustang SVT Cobra, nuff said.

agreed. :D

Well... oh well we might as well ALL be off topic now.

American cars do stink for the most part. Overseas cars are elegant, fast, and have very good styling most of the time. American cars have only HP, but a big old goose-egg for the rest :D

Actually thats where yo are wrong, there are too many 'rice boys' (not refferring to just japanese cars) these days. If the two drivers had the Exact same ability the Viper would win. On the other hand if the driver of the Viper wads a complete idiot of course the Lancer would win. Mustang 5.0's and Camaro's have run the quarter mile in the 9's and even in the 8's stock off the street, there arent any street legal Honda's that can go that fast. So dont get mad when a guy in his Camaro burns your ass in the quarter mile and you start shaking your fist at him saying that you 'High Tech' car could beat his 'Low tech car' anyday, he doesnt give a ****, he just burnt your ass. You'd probably make him feel even better about winning that his low tech car beat your more expensive high tech one. Im not saying that Japanese cars suck, since alot of them are great, Im just saying there are too many wannabe's out their in BOTH imports and domestics. I like both. BTW, 'Rice Boy' isnt racial, it only refers to people who drive cars that think they could win, not a specific race...

stuff I’ve said to you lemmings in this thread:

wow, what a moron you are. get a grip: it is impossible to make a comment like this one. they suck, based on what? do they suck based on the tremendous outpouring of brute power they have, Mr. Type-R? that must be it; i'm sure you're whopping 98ft-lb. Honda can whip any puny Viper, Corvette, or even freaking Cadillac Seville out there, since they weigh so very much more than your VTEC Beast (tremble in fear of the almighty valve-timing)! whoopie, you have a special cam job. American cars have 2000 more pounds and 300 more horsepower! some Japanese cars are great. some American cars are great. there is no victor

did i not say that some Japanese cars were fast? i never once accused all cars made in a certain country of sucking, solely because they were made there. you, on the other hand, bluntly stated "American cars do Suck!!!!!!!!", with nothing further justifying either why or how they "suck," or even that not all of them do.

before you say what you think, think.

once again, we neglect to actually criticize some part of the American car. if you were to say "American cars suck," you're categorizing both the Dodge Viper and the Plymouth PT Cruiser as the same thing, which they are not. why do i not say Japanese cars suck when Japan is responsible for the Diahatsu Midget? because they also created the Nissan GT-R and Mazda RX-8. a Corvette and a Cavalier are 2 different things, as are a Vitz and a Supra.

now, then:

Dodge SRT-4:
- turbocharged (14 psi), intercooled, 2.5L I4
- 215 bph
- 245 ft-lbs
- 0-60: 5.6 seconds
- quarter: 14.2 @ 102 mph

AE86 Trueno:
- I4 DOHC
- 128 bhp
- 109 ft-lbs
the times, I don’t know.

Initial D is a cartoon.

i left out, the AE86 has a 1.6L.

Your wrong about how american cars suck, they dont, your just jealouse about the people who have good cars that could womp your puny little Civic Type R (oh wait, behind the R badge it says EX!! ). Its clear you know NOTHING ABOUT CARS, go eat your cheerios and watch your cartoons...

Actually alot of people in this forum dont know much about cars, and dont give me cr*p that I dont know anything either because I have the sense to know an Integra Type R couldnt Womp a Vette (if the drivers are the same talent wise)...

dude, i just said that American cars didn't suck.
i'm *****ing at the ricers, man; American cars own.

oops, sorry man, gt mixed up

[EDIT] OK I edited above post. Its just when people start talking trash about how one car is better than the next or import vs. domestic I have to get in their since 95% of the time they know practically nothing about cars....

I'm not gettin' into the whole thing about Initial D NOT being a cartoon,I'll just reply to this post =P.I happen to like Toyota,Mitsubishi,Nissan,Honda, and Mazda, but all in all....

Toyota wins =D

A lot of different manufacturers have awesome cars in production but my fav manufacturer ir nissan. I love silvias... i love SKYLINES...i LOVE :nissan: :D

^thats the kind of attitude we should have in here, not all this arguing and flaming...

i love american cars and japenese cars. only i like amercian cars for there sound and power and japenese for there handling. plus i would love to have a vette so that when i hit the throttle i can hear the deep throughy v8 but i would also like a wrx because it is fuel efficient and cost a lot less but still has nice looks and handlein. but nothin beats the sound of a v8!!

Nissan - havent gone ***** fwd on most models such as Mitsi, Toyota and some stuff from Mazda. They have true sports cars with a proud history. Silvia, Skyline, Z car and make the best V6 engine in the world
Holden- best value for money in the world
BMW
Prosche
Chev
