Favourite thing in GT6 so far?

I am glad I found this thread as I was thinking of starting a "Praises for GT6" or some such thread myself.

There'll be plenty of threads like this as new members start pouring in via Google. So it's a good thing you didn't. ;) 👍

........................the best part about it for me is that it feels like a GT game again ...........

Yes. many would feel that way; I do, too.

..........................(where GT5 felt the least like one out of them all).

GT5 was somewhat of a surprise - and having played through both Versions 1.00 and 2.15, I realised the changes that not only evolved throughout that development process, but also the subtle programming that took place in our minds providing the ground-base for the introduction to GT6 - which in a way is nostalgic GT and yet sort of a 'new' GT.

It actually takes me back to the feeling (in a way) of the first game, which to this day was the best experience of them all, the one that for me defined the feel, the "GT" if it all. I am enjoying that feeling immensely right now and hope it lasts.

It's been years, really, since I missed the feel of playing GT4, and even GT3 (which latter, to me, was the hardest) but suddenly I feel a lot happier - it's like they took my GT4 away and gave me a brand new polished copy with stuff I couldn't even imagine I wanted.

Racing on Apricot Hill at night is truly breathtaking & the replays make rewatching gameplay a must.

I have hundreds of movies saved in GT5 - as you may guess then, I'm making movies like Cameron and Spielberg rolled into one. The replays also help me examine the tracks in minute detail, an obsession I confess that has now considerably worsened. Easter eggs? Haha. Galore. Comparing the movies between GT5 and GT6 shows me what was added and subtracted. I'll be looking forward to seeing Jenkins again. Or not.

I'm also getting a nostalgic GT4 vibe with the remixed menu music which brings back awesome memories.

There is a lot of nostalgia in here. I played GT4 a few weeks ago, and when checking out my garage (I had the urge to thrash the Bentley Speed 8 around El Capitan) and my kid comes bounding up to me with "What's that? What's that? I know that song! OMG, I used to love that!'
I laughed and told him it was a game I played a lot while he was growing up.

I just finished getting my National A and unlocked the Lunar Missions - he is going to throw a fit tomorrow when I make him drive around the Moon. What better way to teach him the terrain?

The little touches here & there are truly making this game hard to turn away from. I just cant stop playing.

I stopped playing just now, to take a Rum and Coke break. It is very hard to stop. If not for the fact that I have been playing since 5.00 P.M (it's 4.00 A.M. right now where I am located) and a bit tired I would just keep playing till I keel over.

So much driving to do . . .

The licence tests were loads of fun since I had company - the four friends on my friend's list are all closely matched with me, and we are having a whale of a time trying to shave milliseconds off each other's times.
Obviously when we go online together we'll be racing in a pack - and that's about as close racing as I could hope for.

There is a lot of thought that was put into the game - and when I got that letter from Lord March . . . just for a second there I forgot I was a middle-aged family man with life's daily problems - I was the rookie racer, gradually working my way up - and now they want me to train on the Moon. Good. I'm ready.

Edit: (added)

Well they obviously kept the actual oil changes and car washes, but the point is there is no animation once you choose an option like in previous games.

Not the same kind of animation for sure - and nowhere like the animation in TDU2, where you actually had to sit around and some guy even comes and talks to you. There are plenty of characters around, too. What I find strange though is that GTAuto seems to be situated in quite an elevated area - a penthouse garage. There must be a glass elevator taking the cars down . . .

And talking about raindrops on roses, and other favourite things . . . there are suddenly a lot of gals in the game - women spectators, that is. Hm. :)

I'm enjoying driving very much in GT6, the physics have definitely improved along with tire sounds. Visual improvements are also great. Have been playing for several hours and I'm very much impressed with the improvements, especially the driving feel.

Everything, but also something unpopular (don't ban me for that :-) ) : the nitro is very interesting. I use it with a low PP car, use it to catch the rabbit the first or first two laps, then I have extremely interesting racing with the first 2/3 cars when my nitro is empty. It was never possible to have close racing in rolling starts before (because we are 10-20 sec behind at the start, so if you want to catch the rabbit you need to be significantly faster than him). Now with nitro this is possible, and I like it a lot.

I saw some challenging advice in another thread and it works. Use a car that is 100-150pp less than the limit and a grade less on tires. Makes some interesting races. I don't take the lead until the last lap and often within the last 1-2 corners. The weird part is that on that lead car, once you pass them, they really try to battle and catch up to you. You have to become a defensive driver just to win, lol. I have won many races under 1 sec due to this. There is a trophy for a less than .01 sec win. I got it and it was heart pounding. I took a 97' EK and edged out a NSX in the Japan Tour by .002.

I still think the A.I. is on a linear following path still though. They are just spread out more and they make you overtake more on a grid. I never really complained about the A.I. except that if they bump you they send you flying off road but vice versus and it doesn't effect them. They are too tight and not loose enough on the track. I am not sure if PD will ever make the A.I. act more human in which they can make mistakes. Shift 2 did a great job with the A.I. overall. If you rode a car, it put pressure on them in which they could make more mistakes.

My fav thing so far... after years and years of waiting.. a Pontiac Firebird in GT!!!!! :O

wish there were more models of it from the 80s thru the 2000s, but just seeing one in the game makes me so happy!

The right kinds of payout are crucial to proper game play. Too much too soon, and it gets boring. Not enough and too much hard work, and it becomes a drag. This is a part of the gameplay that's 'invisible' (unlike graphics, for instance) or cannot be felt right away (like handling.) Only time will tell if they got it right this time.

Obviously with the real dollar coming into play, Richie Rich will have no problem just dabbling if they wish.
But there is no satisfaction in that - not the kind that hard-core gaming gives one.

I will reiterate this statement. Once you get to the IB races, the payouts are a bit more fair it appears. Beyond that I can't say. I am sure others can comment on that. The payout I was mainly unhappy with are the mission events. Its not easy overtaking with the restrictions they put in place.

Something else I like is the star system. I don't remember much on how GT5 was because I stopped playing it but I do remember that it sucked and created way too much grinding. The stars needed forces you to progress to 20 stars at the least before testing out. I think the higher the license goes, the more stars needed to test out though instead of 20 each time. I like how they incorporated the license test with career mode though.

My favourite thing is on the London circuit, the photographer flashes reminds me of speed cameras, so realistic that those 🤬 Catch you speeding over and over again. Can't remember them flashing on GT5 but i laugh every time after the first corner.

the moon and the lunar rover: because i was actually an aspiring astronaut during my early childhood...and gt6 made me fulfill even just part of it ^_^

The brutal fast transmission/Engine Sounds of the diablo gt2 visualized by the puristic direct on/Off transmission LEDs at sunset ascari... words cant describe... check it out urself

Yes, that feeling keeps rolling back. Keep hearing snippets of Gran Turismo 2 East City everytime i want to prepare for a race.

Seriously?? I haven't noticed that yet but then again I haven't played much. The East City music from GT2 was the best part of any GT game ever

My favorite thing in GT6 would have to be the special events. Yes, even Goodwood hill climb 5-3 with the X2010. As much as I hate that car (& still do), I just never get sick of that amazing sound. I just have one problem, how do you unlock the Goodwood hill climb in arcade & free run modes? I've achieved gold on every Goodwood event but it's still locked.

Finding out the Cizeta V16 is premium and banging on a Spoiler so i can see out the back window. What a great drive its got to. so much fun.

The beauty of Mercedes Vision GT in the gallery, the sound of Mercedes Vision GT with the semi-racing escape, the sound of Renault Megane RS, the chekered flag, the clouds, buy suit and helmets, to watch the galleries of the concessionaires, the close-to-real behaviour of the car in replays, and just drive in the free run...Very good start...

The physics improvements are really welcome!
But honestly, the Vision GT is just ruining my life. It's a real vision of beauty in pearl white!
I'm scared to upgrade it because I don't want to ruin its exquisite balance.

I think you should have it unlocked for Time Trial.
It's impossinle to run against other car there. (But I'd like it)

I love how the tracks are wet off the racing line even when the track is at 0%, you can't see it until you go off the line and kick up spray, nice touch PD :)

I really like the new Physics.
I rebuild my miata ingame with my exact alignment and as close as it gets damper and spring values.
The car handles nearly the same, it feels a little bit more twitchy but thats probably only the smaller steering wheel and the lack of G-Force.

It's a fantastic game!

May have something to do with the stars count?
I didnt have access too after completing the Goodwood mission at first.
