The 599 kind of wrecked that trend though, didn't it? Haha.
The 250 GTO has been one of my favorite cars of all time, if not my favorite. The looks and everything, it's all so good. However, I'm quite frankly sick of the car. Back in the day the 250's and other Ferrari's were very pure, and terrific cars. But I swear to God, the 250 GTO has become more of a symbol of class than it has a car. The rates of the cars at auction are hugely over-inflated and it doesn't make any sense. In 2010 the car sold for $18 million, which is a bit high especially when you consider NART Spiders. Then last October a 250 GTO sold or $52 million. $52 MILLION!!! In the course of less than 4 years the price went up that much and its astronomical in pricing over anything else on the planet. There are either 36 or 39 Ferrari 250 GTO's in the world, don't remember which it was, and yet it sells for explicitly higher amounts than much rarer cars. Overall it seems the 250 GTO has effectively become more a symbol of class than it is a car, which is tragic. The Ralf Lauren type really make my skin crawl...
