Can't believe this car hasn't been suggested yet. 1965 Le Mans winner and at least for me, one of the prettiest cars ever built.

The 250LM absolutely flew at Bathurst!

Here is Bob Jane lifting a wheel on his way down the mountain. Note the lack of barriers back in the '60s. This was back before the Chase was inserted into Conrod Straight, and this car was clearly hitting higher speeds than anything else for some years. And no other car racing in Australia at the time had anything like the style of this Ferrari.

Back then, this car was driven regularly by Spencer Martin, and, IIRC, Pete Geoghegan and others. However, it is Martin's name which immediately comes to mind when mentioning the 250LM. The car was a regular across Australian tracks, and is today part of the Ralph Lauren collection. It was the 31st of only 32 250LMs built.

What I do recall from close inspection was the poor quality of the paintwork which was in complete contrast to the rest of the car. The paint was "orange peel" in texture. Of course, you'd never notice such details if you're more than 10 feet away or if the magnificent engine was playing its music!

Edit:- When driven by Spencer Martin, the car sported the number "1".

Yes, you're right, it dates back to 1965... I don't know maybe they didn't get a real car.. But thinking they can manage to model a 250 GTO, it must be possible to model this one, too.

The model from the Ferrari museum was at the big Ferrari shindig in LA this past weekend. Any hopes PD was there to scan this and some of the other excellent Ferraris on display?

This Ferrari was at the heart of a major homologation struggle between Enzo and the FIA. Enzo wanted enough built and homologated in order to compete and win against the Cobra in the GT category. The beautiful front engined 250 GTO was obsolete. IIRC, the car was never produced in numbers sufficient for homologation - but it won LeMans, and set the pace for successful rear-engine Ferrari sports cars. The cab, the tail with hint of spoiler, the rounded fenders and wire wheels; all classic and state of the art for the early sixties. Aesthetics do not get better than this.
