For me the F40 is freaking awesome, pure technology mixed with a outstanding visual:).
The 512BB...well...is cute:rolleyes:

The F40? It's just great fun because it's uncompromisingly bare. The first thing I did in the game was use the F40. It just had so much character and soul (hahah italians) because it really was a driver's car. Just look at the interior, the lack of anything and the fact that with out all of that it was still faster than the 959.

Well that and you gotta love the looks of the thing, it may not be as fast as say today's supercars, but bajesus that thing is still quite fast.

Despite what you think of the F40 in GT5, it's a tremendous step up from the first game I played featuring the car: Test Drive 2: The Duel.

I think I just dated myself....

I don't care much for the 512BB but driving the F40 is very fun. It's much more fun to drive than the Jaguar XJ220. Just don't expect outdated supercars to be the best track cars.

Happens to be Jer Clarkson's favourite supercar of all time too.

So?
JC No matter with what he compares an aston martin , the AM is always better. all porsrche looks the same (and i totally agree with that i hate beetles too) but from the other hand every bloody AM and Jag looks exactly the same too...but he doesnt says anything about that, is he?...
I am a TG fun cause it makes me laugh but car wise JC is full of BS.

Sorry for the some sort of offtopic ....

Ontopic
I totally agree with dabest, (in game) both cars are rubbish.

The 512BB was the car I used most often during A-Spec. It was a a real trooper, a great car. And the F40 is a fantastic car to drive, I get so excited driving it.

Jags and Astons; It's only natural that during the Ford years they would have similar designs. It does irritate me slightly, but what would you expect? Also, Jeremy Clarkson is one of my all time heroes through reading his columns and it's fair to say you can't take everything he says as gospel; he even stated that he contradicts himself.

@boredgunner.....you are joking right?
They do the very same thing that porsche does, they just change some details and work things around depending on the trend...... and here you are new model.....

Just gave both cars another go without aids, the 512BB is still meh, as for the F40, well, I think I've just found a new favourite car :D :D :D

thread was highjacked by AM fans...

As of 512BB i think it's more enjoyable than f40 for me. short wheel base + 12 cylinder boxer + bare interior + smooth olf ferrari lines = fun

The F40 is essentially a road legal racecar, a reaction or answer and complete antidote to the high-tech and sophisticated (at the time ofcourse) Porsche 959, a quite simple and crudely engineered turbocharged monster with no compromise for daily use or passenger comfort created in a time where that was still possible, unlike now I guess with high tech gimmickery and safety/enviromental concerns being so predominant.

and the race version of the F40 is simply badass

A quick question about the F40.
I feel the urge to buy more of them and paint them, but I don't know what colour to paint the body and rims, any suggestions?
I already have the normal red one :)

Lol its like twice as heavy as a lotus man.

In the real world the curb weight only differs by a pretty small margin. The F40 is only like 1100-1200kg which by modern standards is nothing.

With the F40 only being made up of 12 panels of carbon composite it's just as bare as the Lotus Elise.

Well I remeber you are quite young (from another thread) which would explain why you dont get why this car is held is such high regaurd. I'm 28 and when I was young most kids had a poster of a F40 (or other ferrari's) or a countach. Times were different back then and kids worshipped their favorite supercars with posters instead of youtube like these days. So I think there is a certain generation that has always had a soft spot for the F40.

Anyway like others have said it was an important car, being the first car to use a Carbon Fiber tub (developed in F1).

One more thing to add, the american version of the F40 weighs more than the european version, and the one in the game seems to display the european weight while it actually weighs more, so I've lightened mine to account for that. I think the lighter version weighs 1150 KG.

Yup I had an F40 poster as a kid in the late 80's. I recently discovered Ferrari made 7 RHD F40's. There are a few variants as already mentioned , the GT and LM versions were amazing. There is a video on YouTube of a road legal LM spec in Germany. The sound is just

Finally there was one F40 that was extra extra extra special, it was Enzo's own car. It had more bhp and the was extra vent slots on the car. Sadly Ferrari sold it off in the 90's.

I love my F40 but never tried a 512BB yet. I honestly wish they allowed some downforce for the F40 at least 20 front 40 rear would be lovely ^_^
