As a Series S player, possibly the biggest part of this update other than offline mode being available is:
Previous game size 60 GB...
New game size 38.2GB!!!

I literally have enough extra space to install a mid tier game! [Which will probably disappear when TCM update arrives later  ]

Question for those who have been able to try out the offline mode. I know that liveries don't carry over how about any modifications like rims, wheels, etc.... ?

I want to say that this is only the bare bones of offline. They may tweak it in the coming months. We'll have to see what they say in the Showcase today.
While it's unlikely that TC2's offline mode will be updated, a Reddit moderator participating in UBI's Insider program has posted that they will collect feedback on TC2's offline mode and submit it to UBI for future improvements to the offline mode.

If you don't have a reddit account, you'll have to create one, which is a bit of a hassle, but we'd appreciate your help in making TCM's offline mode better.

I hope they collect feedback for an offline, solo and personal version of the track creator along with designing liveries for personal enjoyment, even if they wouldn't make it to TCM or Online!!:ouch:

Quick edit: Also... I can FINALLY cruise without worrying of a 12 years old coming to ram me or being kicked for going to the bathroom. Sweet. PEACE.

Another edit: I hope modding will someday be offline-mode possible!! Imagine the potential!

Got to mess around with the offline mode. It was okay. I am a little bit disappointed that you can't upload your offline save to online but I understand why they wouldn't do that. Hopefully if they make any more changes they will allow you to use your custom tracks.

Tried the hybrid mode and started from scratch. I actually like that you can't access carpass vehicles for free and you have to buy them. But I already came across a money bug. Now I was doing the South Strip to level up the Miata and eventually reached Star level. And with that unlocked some stars for hobbies. Nothing strange. However when I logged in again I had like 30 rewards not claimed in hobbies. So I collected 30 emotes. Now since those are the same emotes I got rewarded money instead. Turns out every time you unlock a 1⭐,2⭐... requirement the game register it as a reward. And now I have 2.7 mil.

Maybe it's not a glitch but a feature to help you get some quick cash 🤔 But probably not. Got use it before they patch it out

With the cars acquired not transferring over to TCM once TC2 goes offline, I shall have to try to get them all in TC2 before it goes offline, if I can.

It doesn't look like TC2 offline mode will get anything else added other than maybe bug fixes. Therefore, with no Summits in offline mode a lot of the special edition vehicles are going to become unavailable to acquire in TC2 when the game goes offline. So getting platinum in Summits with vehicles is imperative. I think I've probably joined the game too late to get every Summit vehicle though. Even at one vehicle every 2 weeks (based on the current Summit pattern) I would need Summits to continue for about 3 more years.

Re starting the game from scratch in offline mode, without the Bucks and Followers boosts from the Summits, the long grind must be even worse?

I dont have it installed, does all vehicles and customization items carry over to offline mode or just what is unlocked through the story mode?

It's almost like playing the game right after release. A YouTuber calculated that it required 4000 South Stripes to get LaFerrari at Icon 600. Getting the Bugatti at Icon 1000? Madness

Everything carries to offline mode except liveries, leaderboards, ghosts. But there is another thing. If you start from scratch Gold Edition content is not available. So no house in LA for example.

Speaking of which, I'm not sure if this update is the cause, but it seems that the 1 bucks campaign that was previously held for some vehicles has ended.

I created a sub-account to play offline mode in the future and started TC2 again from scratch yesterday, and even in online mode, the GT500 Road Force One, 959 Dakar, etc. were all back to their original selling prices instead of 1 bucks.

While these vehicles aren't OP, they were good vehicles for the starter kit of the game, so the addition of offline mode may make it a bit of a rough start for people who bought TC2.

The crew2 is going for £2.50 and Motorfest is £15 atm on steam 🤑
I have bought the Gold edition of TC2 for PC, although I don't actually own one (yet). Partly so I can play it once I have one and partly to support IT for listening to us and making the offline mode. And also, it's an old enough game that whatever PC I end up with it should run OK.

As well as PC, I am going to buy the Gold edition on PS4 while it's on offer.
Worth getting the gold edition of TC2 for £4.50, IMO, to get the 20% discount on all cars, plus getting the season pass cars for free when you start playing is super helpful. Indeed, having started 3 x TC2 accounts from scratch not all that long ago, I'd say the early grind is borderline unplayable without the season pass, I ended up buying the season pass on each account because it's just too painful without it.

Both of these posts just reinforce that the game just doesn't work offline from scratch because it's so heavily designed to only work properly if you have the Summits. Even more so if you have to pay for the Season Pass cars in bucks as well.

I'd say the "ideal" starting point is having a game save where you have the Season Pass cars included and start at, say, Icon 1 or Icon 100. With some kind of mod where bucks are earned x2.

After starting from scratch I realized very soon how pointless is to rush things. The starter vehicles are more than capable of winning events on normal difficulty. And you need to finish those first anyway. And now that I don't need to buy vehicles for summits I only buy things that I actually want to drive. Unless you want a 2 millions car right at the beginning, money is not an issue. Icon will be reached by the time you finish half of street races. And so will level up your cars.

You can finish the entire game on all difficulties without repeating the same event on the same difficulty.

I did buy the basic version although i doubt I'll ever play it on pc and sent a gift to a buddy so his kids can play it, if only they could make the save cross platform i would have bought MF as well same with FH5 i have a good pc save and can't be arsed to start again

You can, but the most efficient way to progress is to do the same event over and over on the hardest difficulty. You get more money, more XP, and better parts. Doing a different event is pointless when all you want to do is unlock the summit and get a full set of max number gold parts, as it just means you're getting less return per minute than you'd get if you did the event where you've unlocked hardest difficulty. I'd have to check, but I think the Porsche Speedster that you get with the Gold Edition is the best car to use for this process as it's pretty quick and starts at a higher performance number, so you're part way along the parts grind.

But then, without the summits, and no leaderboards, the whole thing is pointless in offline mode anyway. I had hoped that the offline mode would continue to cycle through the summits, and would preserve local copies of the final online leaderboards, or at least maybe the top x of each leaderboard, but it seems not, so I can't see myself ever playing the game offline.

And they still haven't fixed even the most glaring QoL issues such as the car list starting on the right, not the left, which makes the game absolutely painful to play when you have a lot of vehicles, as you either have to hold the d-pad left for ages so it scrolls all the way to the left, or put the controller down and use a mouse to drag the bar across. You can tell where their priorities are:
  • QoL fix for issue that players have to tediously overcome every single time they select a car for an event - nope
  • Stop players in a crew from earning credits, parts or XP if they don't finish the race within the timeout - done

At least they do seem to have done something about the cheater on PC with an offensive name who was top of the summit leaderboards for months, but it should have happened a long time ago.
