I might add there are fewer GTs because no one wants them any more... they've come past their big media hype and there's just too many of them as it is, so they cut production short. Same for the CGT.

Which, by the way, is much better than both of these two. Not that it really matters.
No there's not. That's nowhere close to the reason why they're stopping their production. It's because Ford originally intended the GT as a small-produced car.

Actually, there aren't many because dealers are selling them way over the MSRP.

I'd take the F430, but only in black and Spyder form. I'd also take the GT as well, though.

Over a year after the car's introduction, Ford GTs are finally selling for MSRP or less. The only exception seems to be the "Heritage" paint option cars, which are limited in production to perhaps only 200, and seem to be selling for about $10K over sticker. Other 2006's seem to be selling for MSRP or a bit less. (Note, the Tungsten color is not limited in production.)

Early 2005 models had lower sticker prices (base price $140K, loaded $156K), and seem to be selling for about sticker.

Later 2005 models with sticker prices equal to the 2006's (base price $150K, loaded $167K) seem to be discounted a bit more, as folks willing to pay the higher sticker price are choosing 2006 models.

The hype around the car had died down. But I think the main reason the GTs aren't selling (thus the price reduction by dealers/private sellers) is because people have a hard time dropping 150K on a car with a large blue oval emblem on the front bonnet. Which is unfortunate because it's such a biased view against what is good car.

Having driven neither, I'm not in a position to comment authoritatively.

However, I desire the Ferrari, and not the Ford. I think that the Ford GT is a cynical raping of the history books, whereas the F430 is an example of pushing the boundaries within its class.

For the money though, I'd probably go for an '06 Gallardo.

Heres a good question: If people wont shell out $125-150K for a GT, why are so many people looking to blow $50-60K on the new Shelby GT500? They are different cars, sure, but they still have the blue oval on the hood, and you arent going to be beating up on any Z51 Corvettes with that thing...

No but frankly I like the look of the new GT500 over the C6. I'd own the new Shelby in a heartbeat before even a ZO6. Looks and comfort over performance in this class.

It's close, but I'd take the F430 because of the (relative) reliability and handling poise alone.

Not to mention I wouldn't want my GT telling me that it's been stolen every five minutes or so.

I agree with this. :D Between GT and F430, I think I'm gonna have to go with the Ferrari. I really really love Ford GT too though!

I too like both cars, but I credit the Ford for the more honest to God Engineering, handling and such, the racing pedigree from Le Mans !! The Ferrari on the other hand, is, exactly as someone said, a footballer's toy, it's no REAL car for REAL enthusiasts, at least in my eyes.....
I think they're now pose-mobiles (because Ferrari sales sky-rocketed recently)...

Which one would I choose? That's a tough question, but.....a small bias towards the Ford GT ;)

I think you'll find that Ferrari have a fair racing pedigree as well, even at LeMans :sly: You can trace a purer line between racing pedigree and road car status in the F430 then you can in the GT.

Name a race the GT has won... no, name a race it has even entered. Don't say Ford has a racing history at Le Mans because it won four years. Sure, it's a big part of history, but I consider a 'history' to require at least some consistency.

A 550 is a great car, but it's a GT. Not exactly one of the best handling cars of all time, but very capable.

Well, check the Super GT. The Ford GT is going to be in it.

I think Ford is running some GTs as racecars this year, but most of them are under private control, and I dont think there are going to be any in international competiton.
