And also, I wouldn't mind doing another season (on GT5 of course). :D

I'd only do it if people showed up.

On GT5 race central, Leybob08 runs a 2 race a week series. I've won most of the races. It has skid recovery though....so its not a good measure of skill since I'm 3 secs a lap faster on some of the tracks that are slippery, like Grand Valley. Suzuka isnt really any quicker with SRF though. Some are some aren't.

Anyway, we'll see what the spec 2.0 has got and what it doesnt. I'm hoping the physics aren't so awkward anymore, e.g. (the top guys that use the outside grass in time trials to slide into the corners and get a quicker exit). Thats as realistic as Ridge racer. :dopey:

Also I hate to il-legitimatize Motor racing but in real life I dont believe its as hard to push the car to the limit as it is in GT5. The times cannot keep dropping and dropping. I believe its more straightforward, IRL. A good example is the ridiculous TT times in the mercedes challenge. Initially it seemed close, the lap times compared to real life. But then the fast gamers came in and slide the car into the corners using the grass, without loosing grip!!!??

I'll sign up for a go.

GTP & PSN ID - Silent7Sniper7
Car - F10

P.s. F1 cars don't take on fuel anymore, only tires. That's why F10 has a bigger fuel tank.

For Leybob08's Thursday & Sunday races @ 9:20 PM EST?

Usually the start is around 10 PM EST, 30 laps or 50 laps. Add mustardaddict on PSN.

The races fill up fast. Usually close to 16, there's 16 signed up but all dont show.

Not that you can answer this, but how come Leyba08 hasn't dumped that SRF yet. Seems like he should be a pro at the Red Bull and F1's the amount he uses them. Yet he always uses SRF. I hate to channel my inner Reventon, but I can't believe he still uses it.

You're kickin' ass and taking names in that series aren't ya?

Oooo maybe we should switch to Formula GT's. The interior view is awesome, and those mirrors are huge. It's still more than a hand full, but still.

And we'll have more online options to boot. Yippy!

Eau rouge here I come. Once I shell out the $5.

Mustard, I think with the addition of Spa that we really need to start a new F1 Season.

We can start a new thread or whatever.

Here are my proposals.
Day/Time: Saturday or Sunday 12-2PM starting time Eastern US
We might get someone from outside US,CAN,UK if closer to 12PM East. Not that it will help overall lag.

Distance: 150 km

Car: One make (I'd prefer F2007 due to F10 wheel shake and unpredictable nature, especially in high speed traffic)

Tracks: Monza, Spa, Nurburg., Suzuka, Monaco
Maybe leave it at that since attendance trails off at the end. If attendance is good we can propose adding more races at (SSR5, Madrid, Laguna Seca, Indy RC). Or make it a second season. Maybe if the seasons are shorter on these higher regulated series more people will stick it out.

Assists: all off, driving line if need be, no ABS above 1

Transmission: Manual

Penalties: off

Mechanical Damage: Light (or penalties on weak (ghosting) and heavy damage)

Slipstream: hmm, tough one. I'm going with Full. Kinda makes up for a DRS system.

The F2007 is easiest at high speeds no doubt. At Eu Rouge you'd have a tough time running flat out in the FGT (my guess is you'll have to brake in that thing for Eu Rouge).

As for the the course pack....its slim pickings. 2 tracks. This game needs 3 or 4 new real world circuits to truly stay alive another year. I'd like to do a another championship, but its tough to get people to drive without aids, and we dont know if SPA-franchorchamps will be playable on line since you have to pay for it. If its an arcade car then screw PD, I'm jumping on the F1 2011 bandwagon.

My PS3 froze up today. Maybe I'll have to buy a new one by next spring. Maybe it was just a fluke. Got it last November. Slim medium GBs.

Leybob uses SRF because its easier for him. The online grip is so much lower than offline....It really is ashame its still like that after the Spec 2.0 update. Of course the races would be way different without aids, but eh.

How is F1 2011? Is there force Feedback? Would I feel it in my DFGT? Do the cars still randomely spin at all or is it easier? I hear its not as bad anymore. How is the online scene? Are there people online? Are the lobbies playable?

Ohh, you can't hate on GT5 so bad. I'm no fan of paying $5 for Spa, but it is the #1 track I wanted. The way I interpret GT's DLC anouncement, the tracks will be available in Arcade mode and GT Mode. Both Private and Open Lobbies are within the GT Mode; so it should work online. There is no way they'd be that stupid.

I'd rather have 7-10 pro GT5 F1 drivers with minimal assists than a room full of tools with SRF on, but that's me. I think we can find 7-10 commitments.

My guess is a flat out FGT at Eau Rouge and up Raidillon would result in a spectacular crash. I bet the X2010 can go flat through there.

Nice score on the X2010 seasonal by the way. You are my second fastest PSN friend. Jett_Racer is .5s up, and ranked 25th overall. I think a 1:05.3 is the best I am going to do. I hit my talent wall. The Suzuka X2010 Special challenge requires two laps (starting from pit) in 2:10 for gold. That tells me that basically less than 500 people have any chance in hell of getting that. Which I guess is good for exclusivity, but unfortunately I'm not one of them.

I have barely played F1'11 since buying it. I'm kind of pissed off I spent money on it. I got sucked in by pretty demos and talk of improvement over '10. It just doesn't feel right to me. If the GUI on the GT5 lobbies is considered bad by some then they'd consider the F1'11 one outright garbage. I've heard the AI is great, but I haven't played enough to even get to AI. I've said many times that if GT5 had Spa I would never have purchased F1'11. Well here we are, and a little too late for me.

My guess is the X2010 is flat out for all of Spa, apart from the first hairpin & the chicane.

We'll see....dont know if spa will be playable online. PD are not dumb but they are cheap & profit orientated.

I am very intrested in this, I sure hope I'll be able to race with you guys.
Joey/F2007 & F10

Dont know if you'll see this but how are the graphics in that game. Are they tolerable? I watched an HD vid on you tube of the PS3 version and it looked pretty blury. Codemasters obviously built the game around the PC and that did not translate well to PS3 software one bit.

I heard the frame rate is repulsive, like 10 fps at times. :sly:

F1'11 is hard to watch given GT5's graphics. I hate when I find out a game's max resolution when I am buying it. If I'd known it was 720p, and GT5 was offering Spa I'd be $60 richer.

can i join but i dont have a F1 :L

Sorry to drag this old thread up

There's enough interest out there for us to get something running. Even if its just a massive session and not a proper series of races. Maybe I've missed the boat and you guys have moved onto other things. Id still like to find some organised races.

I've raced against some of the people mentioned in the last 39 pages. Maybe these guys might remember racing against me. Im fairly decent, I love driving the f2007 and could drive it all day. I don't mind changing the car to fit with any regs. If any of you get this up and running again give me a shout on PSN as I don't always visit forums. Cheers.

I have a suggestion. Maybe to add some realism, and get the times closer to real life, I suggest to limit the power to 700hp, and weight to 620kg. I've done testing with said settings, and the results are looking good on my end. The cars handle a lot less fictional in terms of the stratospheric amounts of grip. Under normal circumstances, 1:10's and below are what you can get at Monaco, but with 620kg of ballast, you actually have to work hard for a 1:12 or below. You need to be so much more accurate, and I found the cars significantly more fun to drive with 620kg. I can only imagine how much fun the actual racing would be with those settings. It also opens up tuning quite a bit ,as you would now have ballast adjustments added to the things you can do to get the most out of your car.

Just thinking about realism, as well as fun and challenge.

Its possible it may be resurrected in a diff form. :) I'd like to do more full distance races if we do it again. Its tough though, because most of the regulars are not now GTP regulars.

Trust me, it would be epic racing. By all means do please try them out, in a lobby one day with other drivers.

If done properly with a solid set of rules established from the begining I'd be up for this.

Im interested but I dont have much time :(

Well I'm doing the classic car series now. If we get another Ferrari F1 with DLC like the F2004 than I'll start a series.
