I have lately seen a video about how Renault are beginning to ship to customers their new Renault 5 turbo 3E.
The first comment was about how they built a better car than Ferrari or Mercedes…
I sadly agree…
I think this how a fun electric car should be:
- It doesn’t have any of that 1000 hp nonsense that people seem to think is the only number of respectable horses 🐎.
(555hp)
- it is not a 4wd with 4 electric motors that means your are fast without having any proper driving skills…
(2 motor, one on each of the rear wheels, you press the gas all the way: you spin)
- It is not a car that weighs as much as a Ford F-150…
(1.5 tons instead of 2.5 tons)
- A good old hydraulic hand brake that you can yank when ever you want…
- Also cool retro styling😁
This is a car that appeals to car enthusiasts because it is built the same way that they would have done it if it had a traditional engine.
People might argue that, it doesn’t have enough range compared to some other car but they forget that even with traditional engines, not all car have the same fuel efficiency. For example, if you want more fuel efficiency you will go for a civic hybrid over a civic type R… It doesn’t have to be all in the same car. You buy a Type R cause you want to have fun and spirited driving, not because you care for miles/gallons. Using the same logic, car enthusiasts looking at an electric car will care more about the cars performance than it’s range, and if having less range means a lighter car, it make it more appealing to a car enthusiasts.
To get back to the Ferrari, it just doesn’t appeal to car enthusiasts. So who is it for then? Well… I don’t know 🤷♂️. Non car enthusiasts, even if they have money, will probably not buy a 600 000$ + electric Ferrari cause they would probably still rather have an “real” Ferrari right?
… right?
Oh well if they have sold all the orders sheets for 2027, I guess some specific crowd like it…
Thank you for reading my rant today🙃
