It all depends.
Ferrari has the race pedigree but Lamborghini can't pretty much annihilate any of their cars.
Ferrucio Lamborghini never wanted his cars to be raced, only enjoyed. So fully modifying the cars is personal opinion. I actually don't, I use them to cruise on Free Runs, but I've raced my Gallardo a few times.
Ferrari cars are more aggressive and harder to control but the 458 is perfect and really puts Ferrari" up there" in my opinion. I don't actually like many modern Ferrari's as they've lost their character and also the fact that they're not the best anymore; only the 458 can contradict this argument.
In my opinion however, I'd rather be driving a Lamborghini in GT5. They're beautiful, fast and now even easy to drive.

Ferrari & Lamborghini have great looking cars that wont look out of place in 20+ years.
However Lambo's seem to be a bit bulky and heavy could you imagine driving down a european side street or even an old town it would be terrible here's why.
No vision out the back.
Its too big and bulky.
No parking areas having to drive along way to find one then walk back.
But dam they look good.
For me i would get the Ferrari they have everything i would want in a true supercar and in day to day use it would be a class above the Lambo.
Both Ferraris and Lamborghini's are often used as a weekend car, not an everyday kind of car.
All those problems you pointed out exist in big Ferraris too - Enzo, F50, F40 etc..
Also, Lamborghini have an everyday car that's probably just as good, if not better at being an everyday car than a Ferrari, the Gallardo.
Just my opinion though, I do agree about what you're saying as the Countach, Diablo, Murcielago and Aventador suffer from the problems you mentioned. But they're drivers cars, not for going to the shops in.
