I belive the Enzo, at the time, was the fastest accelerating and best-handeling car any automagazine in the US had tested, at the time of course, but the Enzo never scratched the surface of "world's fastest" car by that time.

I belive that Motor Trend clocked the Enzo at "only" 212-ish MPH in their top-speed test against the Carrera GT and Ford GT, a far cry from the then record run of the Koenigsegg CCR, which took top honors at 243 MPH.

I don't see how anyone could even attempt to discredit the Enzo in any sort of way. Simply put, the car is amazing, generally an F1 car for the road. Of course, the industry has moved forward in the past three years, and we have cars like Z06, 911 Turbo, CCX, etc. treading on where the Enzo once stood.

Sure the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo is an unbeliveably fast car, and it may cost less than an Enzo, but the car just does not have the presence that the Enzo has. Now I'm not here to completely tear down the house that Saleen built, but he still has a long time untill he can be a great like Ferrari or Lamborghini, and even then, I doub't his cars will still be at the top of everyone's list... Sure, he has done an amazing thing with the S7, but he is still building less than 50 per year, most of them S7Rs.

Woo post 31. I was wondering how long it would be intill the Z06 was mentioned in this thread. lasted 30 posts, longer than I expected. :lol:

Remember this thread is about Ferrari and Lamborghini, not Chevrolet, Koenigsegg, Saleen, Ford, Porsche etc.

I didnt put 'neither' because people would do Koenigsegg or Porsche, or both, because I want this to be a showdown between Lambo and Ferarri.

Ferrari. Why?

One factor, as noted earlier, is their heratage and history.

However, the main reason is their nature in the modern age. While Lambo maintains some degree of their hard-edged appearance, they've become too mass-produced. Everywhere you look, under the hood or in the interior, you see Audi. The motor is an Audi-derived and -produced unit, the interior switches and fixtures are Audi shelf parts, and the AWD system is an Audi innovation.

Ferarri, on the other hand, still makes everything themselves, and maintains the hand-built, in-house designed, nature that has made them great for so many years. In performance, too, they've got the most advanced transmission on the market, and the RWD drivetrain still is the purest for performance. They also hold an edge in certain technical factors, like their "
Mannetino" controlled traction-control system.

However... I'd still take a 911 over either. Ferrari and Lambo are too impractical, too high-profile, and too high-strung to make a suitable car for everyday use.
 
:) I like the thread starter's perspective......but isn't this a poll to have an overall look at the brands, not only at the latest models?
that's why i chose for ferrari.....it's pretty simple, I like the F40 and F50 more than any lamorghini, so the choice wasn't hard to make, but off course the opinions are divided, there are so many different cars made by these brands.....and all of them out of reach :)
 
Wow, lots of complaints about Audi. Well, tell ya what. Thank Audi, because if VAG had not bought the company from Tonino, it would have gone under.

Lamborghinis are truely what a supercar is. They don't have top speeds you'll never reach, have the most orgasmic noise you'll ever hear, and are just right.
As I've said many times before, Lamborghini has never set out to become the top supercar maker. They're just supercar maker that sells for pleasure.

That's what a Lamborghini is all about. A pleasurable, joy-riding car. Not something you take to a store, something you take to have fun in. It's like a game.

The stance of Lamborghinis are also incredibly amazing, compared to Ferrari. They always look like they're ready to take off. The Gallardo's mass production is true, but that's due to it being a cheap Lamborghini (while still very good).

When you compare the beauty of a F430 Spyder to a Gallardo Spyder, the Gallardo has a menacing stance.

After all, a prancing horse will always back down from a raging bull.
 
Hey everyone this is between FERARRI AND LAMBO!
Please dont say 'screw them both I want a Pagani'. I would prefer a Pagani or Koenigsegg to either one, but please only mention those two.

Ferrari has only one current model that looks good--and that's the F430. Everything else looks like ass. Ferrari's overpriced--and that price is some for technology and most for it's history. While I don't care for the Murcielago I do think it looks better than anything Ferrari with exception to the F430.

Is that what you wanted? :sly: I'd still not buy either if Pagani or Koenigsegg were available.

And whats up with the FXX? Its ricey! And the Enzo looks like an F1 car which it really is but which looks totally retarded...
 
The F430 Spyder is probably the only new Ferrari I'd buy, the 612 Scag. a 2nd (sorry, this car has grown on me so much).
 
Ferrari. Why? I like the sound of them better. Also I like their design better.

But I'd like to point out that neither are one of my favorite brands anyway.

His post was not disruptive in any way, and he was still talking about Ferrari as well; calm down.

I like the FXX, to be honest...it looks like a natural evolution of the Enzo. And seeing as that's what it's more or less supposed to be, I'm calling mission accomplished, IMHO.
 
I'm impartial:

F430 > Gallardo
Mercialgo LP640 (if it came in a color other than mud) > Enzo

Cause I was talking to the guys who just said 'Id rather have a Zonda F' with no explanation or vote for Ferrari or Lambo.

But the Gallardo has a V10!
And is cheaper!

Thanks. You can vote however you want, by recent models or history. I voted by recent models, and I started this thread because I thought some people may have changed their minds about this recently DUE TO recent models, but as long as you have a good reason vote however you want. Overall I choose Ferarri but I voted for Lambo because
A) They look awesome
and
B) IMO the recent Ferraris suck.
Saw a yellow Gallardo hardtop today... breathtaking.:drool:

But I'd choose an McLaren F1 over both of them. :sly:
 
I just evened it out to 18-18 by voting Lambo.

I think Lamborghinis are cooler because they're about being badass street cars, whereas Ferraris are sports cars with racing technology to take them to the ultra high performance level. So the outcome of both are similar, but they approach that point from different ways, and I like the path the Lambo takes better.

That's weird considering I like no compromise performance cars like Exiges and 911 GT3's etc.

Anyway I am suprised to see the poll a tie at 18 each, I thought Ferrari would take a comfortable lead especially now the F430 is around.

I am certainly in no place to question your opinion but can you explain to me "cheap" price and also the poor performance of the Enzo? I don't think anyone would ever associate Ferrari with cheap and the Enzo is a technology packed wonder. It does perform too. Wasn't it the fastest production car ever when it first was introduced?

OK, it's not "cheap" as in a Civic way but Ferraris' are going a lot downmarket in my opinion.

The "poor" performance of Enzo is the fact that even with Ferrari technology it only went 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds (I expected faster) and even with carbon fibre monocoque chassis and stripped interior and all sorts of weight savings measure it still weighed in at approx. 3200lbs according to Road & Track, which was hefty compared to Saleen S7 which had all sorts of luxuries, even a TV monitor! S7 had larger engine, it had a steel space frame with honeycomb, and it still weighed in at 2870lbs according to R&T. And it matched Enzo's accleration time, and it had a higher top speed than Enzo. Plus, it had power windows, steering, leather, TV monitor, backup monitor, and A/C.

I'm not trying to discredit Enzo here - but its not that crazy of a car to drool over in my view.

Ferrari is over priced? :lol: The Murcielago is waay over priced then, I mean you can buy a Evo VIII MR, and you can keep up with a Murcielago on a track. God i love Super Car Slayers in a Saloon body :)
 
lamborghini easy. Lamborghini doesnt try to pretend to be the fastest thing on the track, whilst ferrari does, which it isnt.

These days people see a lamborghini and theyre like wow.

See a ferrari and they think boy what a w*****.

Small note, the TV Monitor is for a rear-mounted camera. :)


You can't say the Murcielago is overpriced because it gets beat by a 4-door.

Does that 4-door have a handbuilt engine, 205mph top speed, and the same quality and time it takes to build it?
Is that engine a 4.6-liter handbuilt (2-3 hours btw) V12 producing 583hp?

No, and that's why you're comparison is stupid. The Mitsubishi is a bargain compared to it, but you don't get that $100,000 V12.
