I have a few series left in beginner.. FF is one and VW is another. I thought I read something about using a bug in FF series.. is that true?

VW Beetle Cup Car. 400hp, FF.

Win it at the Amateur DTM series.

What he said. Just remember to not get the VW Beetle RSi as it is AWD.

Personally, I prefer the RSi for the beetle cup race becuase of how quickly the AWD hooks up. have you won the Type R race yet? Odds of getting a faily quick FF out of that race are high.

Edited to add : Chances are high? What am I smoking? The prize car list for the Beginner Type R race -

Type R Meeting -- Acura RSX Type-S, Acura RSX Type-S, Acura RSX Type-S, Acura RSX Type-S

Hmm...chance = 100%!

So... considering what I currently have:

Mustang svt (loaded to the gills)
Skyline (also loaded)
Mines Evolution
Spoon race car
Mazda rx8
Toyota corolla Rally car

About $200,000.00

Whats my best plan to beat the VW races and then the FF? I also have a few things to do like the mercedes and the honda and such.. Should I just buy the cars to race and go for it?

Is the beetle 2.0 enough to win in the vw series?

Thanks again...

That was a long time ago, but I bought a white VW Beetle 2.0 with my initial 18,000 Cr. I had lots of trouble to beat those Beetle Cup cars and I finally gathered money from other races until I could get the Beetle RSi that would just crunch the competition.
Or maybe it's not difficult and I'm just crap.

Use your SVT to win the DTC series inthe Amature league (it's the series where the CLK, Calibra and Asta touring cars race) and win a VW Beetle cup car, use the save and reload trick until you win it, one of the other prizes is the Astra touring car so if you win that you may want to keep it and re-do the series for the Beetle, once you get the Beetle tune it to the max, and win both series with ease.

The Beetle Cup car understeers like mad; race it if you have too, but you can mod a new (or is that New?) Beetle for decent results through all the FF races, and lose the understeer.

I don't see a DTC series.. closest thing is German Touring Car series.. can I race the svt in that?

That is indeed what he means.
Your other options are to win the Euro Series in Amatuer and do the "Save/Reload" till you get a Vertigo. Sell it and use the 300G's to build a killer VW.
And while the Beetle cup car does understeer, (as do most of the FF cars). If you use the "Search" function and search out Famine's settings for FF cars, you will be suprized how well a front-driver can handle.

I just tried the German touring car challenge... I'm either going to have to get a much faster car or one of you will have to drive the SVT for me.. LOL

(or should I have said, a car that handles better when I drive it fast....):irked:

It sounds like this is your first time through the game, Bill.

If I remember correctly, the Beetle Cup gives you a quest.

The one thing that the Beetle Cup series forces you to learn is how to modify your car, to keep pace or out pace the AI cars, on the Test Course. It's a one AI car race, with all Cup cars. The stock car can't win the race. Trust me, I just tried five times, making small changes as I go, to see what it took to win again. This was the last race of this whole level that I couldn't just buy my win (by getting more horses, etc).

You can pass the AI at the start, but they just sit behind you, taunting. Then they pass you and you go "cough, cough", but can't catch, draft or block them. Then they stay in front of you, taunting you again! No win.

You need to find the minimum of changes that allow you to win. The only "nice" thing about this race is that you are still paid to come in last.

People hate the Test Course because it is so boring, but it can teach you a lot about different things.

Good luck,

MasterGT

I won the FF races with a TRD celica. I don't remember where I won it, but it was a good car to win with! If you do win this car never sell...I don't think you can win it again.

If you want to smoke the competition, take your Skyline to Super Special Route 5 (wet) in rally. Win that and you get the Citroen Rally car. The fastest FF in the game.

Exactly, you can't re-win it in the same game. It's a great FF car, no understeer problems.

I'm just surprized that the showroom-bought New Beetle handles better than the Cup car. I guess you get what you pay for...

I have a special liking to Celicas, so I guess I'm going to have to make myself a new file and get it.... I can't believe I sold it! :(

I used an Acura Integra type R.

I won both FF and Type R series. I also won the American series also. Good car. The only car that gave me problems was the TRD Celica in the FF Amateur.

Actually, it's stupid, but the Honda ITR is better than the Acura ITR. They claim there were upgrades to the suspension design of the Honda version.
