I have had the DFGT since December(5 months) and it has been a great wheel. This was my first wheel as well. At first I had the ffb at 1 because the wheel experience was new to me. I slowly worked my up to a ffb of 5 and occasionally 6.
I have been playing quite a lot of GT5 over the last several months, so I decided to upgrade my wheel. I have heard great things about the G27, so I ordered one. I just got it in today. Felt like Christmas when I was much younger. Unpacking each piece put a big smile on my face. I set up everything and got ready to run some practice laps.
The brake felt stronger and I had to adjust my "rig" to accommodate the extra pressure required. The wheel felt ultra smooth and very quiet. My wife was quite happy about the last part. As the laps progressed I noticed I was reaching for buttons that were no longer on the steering wheel. No e-brake button, no start button to restart the lap. I would have to get used to having to go to the buttons separate from the wheel.
Once I laid down a few more laps, I noticed I couldn't really feel the curbs and rear end braking loose like I could with the DFGT. The steering was smooth, but also very light. I went to the wheel settings in the GT5 menu and turned the ffb from 5 to 8. I wouldn't dare do this in my DFGT, because it would be a fight the whole lap. I loaded up the course again, and didn't notice that much of a difference in going from 5 to 8 with the G27. Thought that was weird, maybe my G27 wasn't noticing my changes.
I went back to the settings menu and put the ffb at 1 to see if that changed anything. Went to the track, and the steering was crazy light. So, back to the settings, ffb set at 10. At 10 the G27 feels like my DFGT did at maybe 2 or 3. Is this normal? I thought the G27 had two motors and would be stronger than my DFGT. They are not even close. I greatly enjoy the smoothness of the G27, but I am not happy with the "numbness" of the feel.
I am wondering if I got a bad G27. The wheel is brand new and ordered directly from Logitech. Can anyone else that has had both the DFGT and the G27 please weigh in on this. Thank you guys!
