Seriously, this race makes me want to break something. I have to cheat to get into first place by cutting corners/chicanes and knocking AI cars out of the way, which still isn't enough. Somehow, the AI FGT's have superior acceleration times and top speeds, and they aren't bashful about knocking your tail end out at any point during a turn, be it lap 1 or lap 19. I have my FGT fully tuned, still can't get gold or even bronze on any of these events due to AI cars spinning me out before the race is over. If you're not in first place, you just get left in the dust.

Well I can never catch them on the straights, and I always have to switch to bumper cam to block them on the straights when I'm actually in 1st.

Have you "refreshed" the engine and chassis of yours?

I have owned 2 FGT's. The first one I bought the engine rebuild for and the chassis restore also. Ended up with 935hp max.

My 2nd one seems to handle the same, yet I only purchased the oil change. Max hp is still 935hp.

Don't do the chassis thing, it's never been verified to do anything, to my knowledge. People report very little difference, if any at all, after do the chassis thing on very used cars.

The engine thing will restore the engine's power to the factory max, which is 935 BHP if I'm not mistaken.
If you're under this (after oil change), you can consider it, but don't expect miracles.

Bump your top speed up a notch or two, and you will.
And they catch you because of slipstream.

The only things I did to my car were: Buy Racing soft tires ($36,000), Chassis reinforcement ($20,000) and Changed the oil ($250). I didn't spend to much and I golded all the races, I reommend TCS 3, Skid recovery and ASM on & ABS on 1. It was tough.. I had to do ALOT of late breaking ect. It defianlty takes skill.. can't make a single mistake or you're Done. That's what I learned.

It's a pretty challenging event, and often times, very frustrating. If you're using a DS3, you may have to up the assists. If you're using a wheel, you may have to up the assists. If you've already upped the assists, you'll just have to drive faster and pray for good luck.

Well, that was kind of lame, IMO. I just used your settings and golded the first event by 2 seconds on my first attempt. I didn't even drive well at all. It's just ridiculous how much faster you can take corners and accelerate with the assists on. All I did was stomp the accelerator and brakes on every turn. I was taking corners at least twice as fast with assists on. :indiff: I don't usually have any assists on at all.

For Cote De Azur, set your transmission to default. For pretty much everything else, set the tranny up one or 2 notches. Max your downforce too.

Well I just won Fuji and Indy so i'm almost halfway through the championship using these settings: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=136445&page=3

Antonisbob is right...you can barely make any mistakes (major ones anyway), otherwise it'll be a tough climb to 1st. This is probably the only set of races where I have to actually concentrate and actively TRY not to make a mistake.

And i'm using no assists except ABS 1.

I made a huge mistake on cote d'azur, I think I ended up in last. I battled my way back up to first but it was quite the ordeal. No matter how fast I pushed I couldn't seem to get away from them more than 4 seconds, even though I came back from being 20 secs behind the leader. Just stay calm throughout the race, hit your lines, and have a good set up car.

I won a couple straight away, then got a silver, then got repeatedly raped in the face at monaco so I quit. I came back the next day and the car felt 100 times better, had very little trouble with any of the races (though the wet monza was tedious and took forever). I needed the assists though which I don't normally bother with.

Just remember, Monaco isn't good for overtaking so get in front of everyone as early as you can. Also check out the AI stuffing up on the last chicane before the start/finish line at the nurburgring track :)

I bought my first FGT yesterday. Today I tried the FGT championship, following some of the setups for the car posted on the forums. Results were terrible.

So I ended up wasting 1M on the rigidity and engine repair, reseted all the setups and went at it. After I got the hang of Fuji, and ended up being first by .063s, I proceeded with the championship. The second race was easy. I spun out on the first few laps but managed to catch up and win that one too.

Then came Monaco, and lets just say I quit the race in the second lap. Next nurburgring. The AI kept spinning out in the chicane near the end. Still, my terrible skills managed to get me in the last place, span out and got rear ended while braking = last place on a race that was easily winnable. My concentration was clearly someplace else.

But alas, I read somewhere in these forums than in rainy conditions Racing Softs are better than rain tires, and managed to win easily the last 2 races, winning the championship by 25 points, feeling completely exhausted.

I'm not a good driver but I've golded every special event (minus Vettel) and every license and this was just on another level. I use the Driving force pro, and used TCS at 1(first time I felt the need to use it) and ABS at 1. Everything else off.

I just feel like a I crossed a big hurdle after winning this championship.

PS: Doing The Schumacher S on Nurburgring for the first time at full speed is scary.

You guys are so fuuny "repair you chasis " bla bla bla it doenst change anything, we saw many thread about it. and you dont need to change your car settings. Just learn to drive the car and yo uwill make it. You dont drive a formula 1 like a normal car. You have to late break in straight line and when you reach the corner you go FULL speed.

Go in practice mode, and race for a couple hours and tell me how you increased your times !

What? Yes, that's what I'm looking for, increased times!

I can't believe it. Not saying you didn't, but I just don't see how.

Assist settings?
Wheel or controller?

No Assist but ABS 1, but if raining, TCS to 3. I'm using Wheel, and I'm not kind of "FLOOR IT" guy. I use both my feet for braking and gas at same time. when on stright, i slowly floor it.

Video of real Formula one can help you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkYfdtY6qQA

One main thing I can tell you is be remain CLAM at all the time, or you will be act like B-spec into red zone.

Also if it help, I've playing since GT2 and also Formula 1 game since F1 championship and now F1 2010. Will plan to get F1 2011.

With the wheel try to oversteer a little bit, it will make your tire glow in red and you can turn without pressing the break pedal. In nurburgring its very useful.

I only had problems at Monaco, finished #12 there and won all the others but it is really hard you have to drive 20 laps without any mistake :)

so after winning the championship, all we get is a Caterham Fireblade??? WTF...all that time and effort and we get this POS for a reward? Tell me what the incentive is in replaying this series over again?

Got this lastnight.. what a kick in the pouch. I was certain something decent would pop up due to the difficulty. Nope!

Hate this car and this series.

Welcome to GT5.

I'm aware of the rewards (or lack thereof) in GT5. Yes, they don't offer the same type of rewards from the previous GT's. I can live with the fact that the rewards in each of the events are crap. I mean the championship series (other than this one of course) were only about 5 laps at most? I'll even live with the fact that the rewards for achieving all gold in the license tests are crap. I remember back in the previous GT's where achieving gold in the license tests would give you a car that you couldn't even purchase at the dealership.

But enough about that, what pissed me off about this one is that each race was 20 laps each and lasted about 20-25 mins. There are 6 races in the series so calculating that, that's nearly 3 hours. Also add to the fact that the races themselves are pretty damn difficult and the average racer will have a hard ass time with this series. I would consider myself an above average racer and I didn't gold in all of the races. So with that saying, after all said and done all we get is the FIREBLADE!? I bought this damn car from the used dealership! I don't even know how much it was but it wasn't for alot that's for damn sure. I know this has been said many times on this forum, but PD has to seriously re-think its reward system.

Is the GT5 FGT championship any more difficult than it was in GT4?
I rememember it was 15 races long, you had the ability to save mid-through the championship, WHAT HAPPENED IN GT5?
I'm level 20 ATM and hope to reach that championship soon.
This GT might be the biggest dissapointment of the series, seriously.

It's a tough series for sure. I focused on winning the championship first, which I did first try with just 3 wins and 1 second place. It was then much easier to go back and attack the individual races that I struggled on without worrying about the championship!
