... I'm starting it now.

Is it that challenging really?

I'll update this thread as I progress - Starting at Fuji,....

It's not hard as such, as long as you win the first 4 you should be able to skip the last 2 rainy races, which saves you almost an hour =P

All of them are pretty winnable except Suzuka. I have no idea how I'm losing so much speed on that course.

Just set the gearing slightly longer (higher top speed). You will have a massive advantage over the competition.

I am also starting the FGT myself. Although in my case, not going to bother doing the championship itself. Instead, gonna gold each race like a regular a-spec event.

Monaco Grand Prix (Cote de Azur) was handsdown my Everest. I can see why F1 pilots are honored so highly in this most difficult of races.

No, do the championship. Otherwise you'll have to do it all over again to get the Level 21 ticket. You don't have to do all the races, just win the championship.

IMO its pretty easy because the Ai uses the same car as you do. Maybe you should do some practise with the FGT before starting the challenge.

It only takes ALOT of time.

With a DS3 and using no aids, I found it to be the hardest race in the game, but not impossible.

It's hard because the FGT takes some time to getting used to, at least for most of us. And yeah, it requires lots of concentration and almost mistake-free driving on your first go.

FGT Championship truly that hard?

It's the most challenging event in A-Spec. There's always going to be players from the upper five percent that will post about how it wasn't that hard or even that it was pretty easy, but they don't represent the average or typical player. The FGT championship races are the ones that terrify players most, besides the endurance races, but with the endurance races it isn't so much about challenge as much as having to sit there for hours on end.

I think that the problem that most players find with the FGT event is a combination of 1) they're high-performance cars that require a delicate touch or else you'll spin them around, and 2) you really have to know the courses like the back of your hand because there's basically zero room for error if you want to win, and 3) you can't come in with a car that has much of an advantage over the AI, so winning is all up to the driver rather than getting help from a superior car.

Also, it includes a race at Monaco, which sends the majority of players running in terror. I've often read about players either doing terribly at Monaco here or skipping dropping out of the Monaco race altogether.

Not difficult if you don't fall asleep while doing it. I got it on my first try. Just do an oil change right before racing, and keep the driving aids on. (tc = 3) I know, I know, this is "cheating" and i usually play with only abs=1 but it makes life easy in the fgt championship ;)

Without driving aids... well, that's a different story lol... you need to be a gt5 god to win this without any aids..

Edit: I used a ds3 btw.

I won this first try using dualshock 3 no aids and no abs...

but as stated above im not an average gt player so it may be hard for the "average" player and using aids isnt cheating mate cars come with them in real life and the aids actually slow u down in my opinon..

The only hard race in it is Monaco, the others are easy. Maybe that race in the Nurburgring GP track would've been harder too if the AI didn't have a seizure everytime it was at the last corner of the finish line.

It's tough, the AI is brutal. I did the championship in one go after first running the individual races (really not very well). I golded all but Monaco, came in 5th there.

And then complain the game is too short i bet :P

I don't understand people wanting to skip races, don't you play the game because you enjoy racing? Or do you get a thrill out of collecting xp? , i can't work it out.

By skipping, he doesn't necessarily mean never doing them - he just means cashing out early and collecting the prize check for the Championship before getting back to those races. The hard part of the FGTC is that by those last two races, you're car's HP will start to decay from a lack of an oil change, making them even more difficult than normal. If you win the first four races, you can cash out, change your oil, and go back and win those two races with a fresh car instead of having to waste extra effort with a sub-par car instead.

We certainly enjoy racing - when we can give it all that we have and not be hindered by a poor design choice with regards to car maintenance because we can't change our oil mid-series but the A.I.s always come back with a fresh car.

In my opinion the FGT event is a million million times harder the the Ferrari seasonal.

I can't win any race in the FGT and sadly I don't think I ever will. It's just too hard. No tune is gonna help me. The fgt drives like crap around corners. F2007 is awesome compared. So sadly without help from you guys, I don't think ill ever beat the fgt.

The FGT has enormous amounts of lift-off oversteer midcorner. Feels like driving a Porsche 930 or something. With a good setup, it's not terrible. I still use aids though, the car just doesn't drive properly...

Aaw man, I had no idea such a system was present in the champs!

Lemme guess, if I dont win the champ, I also get denied the prize car right?

It isn't a 'hard' event, but it requires patience and endurance. Especially in B-Spec...

The FGT was a nightmare first time I drove it. Careful set up definitely helps, and I'll admit it is the only car where I have the Stability and Steering aids on. (That said, I haven't driven the X2010 yet)

TCS 5, ABS 1 should be adequate; it revs too much without the TCS and you simply will not win without anti-lock brakes.

Yes, it's hard and that's why I like it, the rest of the game was just too damn easy. I'd go for more events like this that are forehead to wall pounding hours of frustration, these are events that making racing games memorable, not generic unmodified civic series (or those in which you can max your civic and race stock ones).
