So I decided to do a single race out of the FGT championship (not quite ready for the whole scahbang). Did the Nurburgring GP/F track as I probably know it the best know. Driving without aids, on manual transmission too. Cut to the race, I get out front and manage to stay there. But second place is all over me the whole race. We go back and forth cutting/gain time off of/on each other in different sectors, pulling quite a lead on the rest of the pack. He was always gunning for me coming into turn 1 and the next few corners, after that I could normally hold him off. But cut to lap 15 or so, same scenario, first few corners and this time I lose it, spin out and off he goes. I end up 4th and have to catch up, but this goes badly ass I end up in the sand at the hairpin before the Schumacher S. I almost quite the race here as I figured I'd lost and wasted my time, but I figured I only had 4 laps to go might as well get the XP. Come up to the long chicane, and the CPU has spun out! Gets me up into 3rd. 2 laps to go I start gunning it, took a good 3 seconds off of the lead on lap 17 to get it down to 7. End of lap 18 I come up to the chicane again to see that both 1st and 2nd place have spun out! I speed on by and then hold them off for the next 2 laps to win by just 0.340 seconds. By far the best race I've ever had on GT5, was truly insane. And my laptimes were dropping regularly as the race went on, the whole championship will be so fun, but so hard. :(

Sorry for the length, thought i'd share it though :D

its a "bug" the AI cars or Bob spin out there ... i think its the same than gt4 lemans or nordschleife (crash in the wall @ straights) or gt5 cote az ur if AI overtake after tunnel they hit the wall

Yh I did notice it was a bit of a bug, it happened before in the race too. That said the uncertainty adds something new to the race, at least the AI made mistakes. Made it much more interesting. Execution of the mistakes isn't perfect, but the experience was near enough there.

I can't believe so many people are complaining about this championship. It's by far the best race you can do at that level.

I did the whole championship on the edge of my seat with wide eyes and sweaty palms throughout. Very thrilling.

I'm really not complaining, this championship, when I get around to it, will be a heck of a challenge. Not sure if im ready for the likes of monaco. Loved the intensity of this race, and for once I sort of kept my cool

I didn't mean you, rather the plethora of other short-lived threads entitled "FGT Championship is the WORST THING since blah blah blah FML".

It's great to see people posting about actually enjoying and playing the game rather than whining or complaining that X trophy is too hard to get.

It's one of the hardest in GT5. You have to fully concentrate on the entire race. I play once & get silver. 20pts behind. :(

Do you have to race all of the races in one sitting or can you save between races?

I loved this Championship. I too had the Ai spin out on the last chicane... Kinda ridiculous that they kept doign it lap after lap...

But the Monza race in the rain, AWESOME

Best race I have had so far. Had to pay attention every corner and make sure to brake/accelerate in a straight line.

Finally was able to gold the championship.

You can pause the game and take a break, or don't start the next race while you take a break.

The break can be as long as you want as long as you don't quit the championship.

In one sitting unfortunately, like all championships in GT5, this one however takes quite a bit longer........(and that's an understatement).
Still haven't finished it, tried a few times and screwed up each time after winning a few, will try again if I find the time (and a calm focussed mental state.....).

You mean the chicane near the end of the lap? For me it seemed that if the AI is in front of you at that point they will spin out, but if your ahead they make it through cleanly.

I think it's one of the best, if not the only good championship, but it's to hard for my hands holding on to the tiny DS3, my pinkies get all cramped up because of the intensity of the races!!

Tomorrow DFGT 👍

I hope you saved the replay. If you did, record the race with a phone or something and upload to youtube. I'd love to watch this race. :)

It may depend on how far ahead you are. Towards the beginning of my race, they didn't really make mistakes, though, as the gap between me and second place increased, I noticed that the split time would make huge jumps as I crossed the start/finish line. I eventually looked at the map, and noticed that the AI seemed to be doing donuts at the last chicane. I was very confused.

Haha! The Nurb GPF race is by far the easiest in the series because the AI cars will crash often after exiting the chicane.

I completed this series yesterday. A week back, I thought this series was impossible. Then, when I finally decided to give it a try, I golded it on 1st attempt. It isn't as hard as it appears to be. It's awesome fun though! :)

Yeah they crash around in that chicane almost every lap, i almost lapped them when i did the race yesterday.

Okay I guess I won't get to finish it being that I usually only to get to play for a couple hours at night. Oh well what can you do. :(

The AI try to go through the chicane too fast sometimes which is why they go wide and spin on the grass, if your only 2 seconds or less ahead though they slow down enough due too your presence and make it through ok.

I remember when i did that race the guy in second was all over me for about 10 laps, couldnt break clear so about 5 laps from end i let him through just before the chicane and as expected he went in too hot and spun, game me a 9 second lead and the chance too relax for the rest of the race.

I attempted the Monaco race to get a feel for the challenge I was about to face. Was in the lead for about the first 6 laps then got a little too aggressive on the first corner and spun the back tires too much, veering off into a wall. Managed to keep third after that mistake and quickly take second back, and trailed the leader by less than 2 seconds all the way until the end of lap 17. Then when I was less then half a second behind him I misjudged the chicane and it was all over. Had to settle for fourth.

Fun as hell, but man was it stressful. Not looking forward to the wet races haha.

Speaking of Monaco and the FGT, does anyone know how to prevent the tail coming out on the hairpin and the turn directly following the hairpin? No matter what I do i cannot get it to not come out from under me, even when I give it no throttle at all, car just bugs out at low speed. Costs me a lot of time.

I ended up doing this event last night, and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. If the AI hadn't crashed pretty much every lap on Nurburgring GP, I probably wouldn't have won the race.

I had the championship in the bag after winning the first 5 races, but the final race at Suzuka was one of the hardest races that i've encountered. I had to come back from last place after spinning off at the first turn. Each time I gained a few positions, I ended up going off, which happened at least 3 times. In the end I managed to win by less than 2 seconds.

I agree that this championship can be fairly stressful, but overall it was fun.

Try to adjust your LSD!

Yeah, F1 and other aero dependent cars are notoriously unstable without the down-force... Like the above suggest, LSD could help or softening up the suspension and sway bars...

But its a balance, to much tuning for slower driving takes its toll when your at speed...

Exactly this, the only time they spun out was when I was behind (which wasn't often). I was ahead for most of the race and the guy in second was all over me, and because of it he didn't spin out so the race was really quite intense.

Hated every second of it, especially at Cote d'Azure.

I'd like to hope I never have to sit in the cockpit of an F1 car in this game again, but I'm sure we'll be getting one in the Seasonal Events eventually.

The only thing that made it bearable was that I could cheat on half the tracks by cutting the chicane completely at full speed and the fact that the entire rest of the field pitted for either intermediates or full slicks after the first lap in a race where it rained the while time.

Obviously, I'm no fan of the super high powered, knife edge cars. :)
