The main reson i want hp and weight restrictions, is to bring the fgt inline with current indycar specs of about 750hp and 750kg weight. Also i had some recent online races in the fgt at indy, and it was chaos. There is no need for 265 mph racing, I feel it will be better with less power and less grip.

I also think penalties are fine the way they are, policing them with stewards would be a serious task in my opinion, and also might make for some questionable decisions, just leave it to the game

NEXT SEASON DISCUSSION- These are just ideas. Let me know your views/own suggestions.

Driver Aids
TCS Banned
Driving Line Banned
Note on SRF- I will never ban this aid for the FGTC, due to the fact that the polyphony has been robbed of most of its downforce, I wont accept that my favourite GT5 car is ruined. (I smell a rat, a very fast red rat with a licensing contract and a prancing horse coat on!).

Tracks
Drop deep forest (this season was very hard to race clean)
Add an oval track
Extend the season to 15/16 races.

Settings
Penalties off and add more stewards to scrutinize all races. This will stop the invisibility and also chicanes cannot be cut as much as the game allows e.g. 2 wheels on the track at all times.
Damage to heavy? Forcing a pit stop for repairs if you crash.

General
What are your views on qualifying at the moment, is it too slow?

THESE ARE JUST A DISCUSSION POINT SO DONT PANIC LOL

Driver Aids
SRF: I am not a fan of this fake driver aid. At least ASM and TC exist, and stated to exist in the FGT. I say if you want a modern F1 car Championship then you should go with the two Ferrari F1s or a single model F2007/F10 Championship. Just consider that the FGT is based on older aero big V12 technology. That's a pretty bad ass thing to tame.

Tracks
Must have all real F1 GP tracks (Suzuka, Monaco, Nurburgring, Monza). Should have Madrid, SSR5 (oo night), Laguna Seca, Fuji F, Indy RC. Created course is cool idea too.

Settings
Penalties off
Light damage

Ronin- Ok, we can have a vote before the end of season to see if there is a majority wanting an oval and which one.
I am happy with penalties as they are but there were a few hysterical people at the start of the season when we raced Sarth (last chicane cutting) but as it was the same for everyone I didnt see the problem. Then again, the complainers have left now so maybe not a problem.
I am glad neth and I have only had to issue 1 warning and 1 penalty so far. It shows we have a good group of drivers now.

toolo4sno-
I have explained about SRF and what I believe the politics behind the lack of downforce in the FGT compared to the older polyphony cars so that is that.
Suggesting 12 Ferrari F1 cars running around is anything like a F1 race is as fantastical, and extremely boring. I love to take my F2010 out occasionally online but what strikes me is how I can do very well in it straight off. Force an online room to bring out their FGT's and half the field end up flying backwards into a hedge, this makes me feel like I have achieved something by actually having to learn to drive the car.
Night tracks are tough with no headlights but I agree that we should always have the F1 tracks there, Suzuka is definatley in for next season. I might create some tracks and see what people think although they feel a bit soul less without the crowds, advertising boards etc.
Looks like light damage is the way forward judging by the previous posts.
Thanks for your opinions.

Thanks for your opinions.

IMO srf is a needed aid to get most out the car. And fgt cars don't drive like f1 cars at all... Yes they are faster but lack df and tuning makes them harder to race! Oval tracks are fun and fast! And you don't need any aids for Indy superspeedway. Just the correct setup and smart racing gets victory. Ronin I seen what your talking about at Indy. Wrong setup or cold tires trying to win on first lap will breed chaos! Lol. Night race:( no see good! Peace out:)

Thanks runfast, SRF is staying. I can see which way you are going to vote in reference to the oval track :) no surprise there!

More opinions on the previous points please.

I raced my first 3 races without TCS and SRF (only ABS=1) and that with a DS3
=> If I can do that it is for you "Wheelers" doable.

Therefore I don´t understand why banning TCS and allowing SRF. SRF gives you 3-5seconds (see my Times at TM). Furthermore it makes this Car an easy all-day cruiser (a bit exaggerated). But you already know my opinion about SRF rhyf ;)

And the excuse with Ferrari was the reason why FGT gets less Downforce doesn´t count, because F1 Cars get more DF every year although FIA restricts them. And the FGT is a F1 Car with a "Base" of 2004 ?? => it has less Downforce then the Real F1´s.

Penalties: I would say turn them off. We are all clean and fair drivers and if 2-3 people "act" as Stewards and watch the Replay, we are good.
Penalty-system has some flaws example:
You get divebombed before your turn-in-point and you turn in but there is the fool who is recless and so you touch/ramm him the system penalizes you insted off the Divebomber.
Without Penalties but with Stewards he gets a "Yellow-Card" and if this happens again he gets a Penalty (Last place start as example).
The Stewards get "paid" with paints/horns/cars (just an example).

Damage:
If heavy it would make you stay focused all the time and you would have no rest.
I for myself like the weak damage because it doesn´t ruin your race that much espacially if you get a "slight" bump and it causes you into the Barricades and the other one can drive with no issue.

Tracks:
Are ok Suzuka is missing ;) But an Oval would just add an extrem close Race. Espacially at Daytona where you can hammer the Throttle throughout the whole lap (Indy too I know but Road-course is already in) :D
100 Laps fly by like nothing and all competitors would be in one second xDD

Tires:
Maybe we could force you to use two compounds (RH and RS or other two combo ;)) but that would be too much for the Stewards to control (just a tiny idea from me)

B2 Cape-Ring: I hate this Track so maybe I´ll set this race out. The Inner-Track is cool but the whole thing is just to artificial (no flow for me) (just a thought maybe I´ll start but without testing)

KS-
Ok so your up for no TCS which is cool. SFR enough said already :) people still crash regular with it so you still need that 100% concentration.
I have not had a collision penalty so far this season but I will put the penalty system to the vote at the end. Light or off looks like the general opionion of the other racers. Are you volunteering to be a steward?
Ovals also going to the vote so far most people would like one. Forcing tyre compounds I think is too hard to police and we all have different pit strategies so I think that area is good.
Sakery, please dont sit out of Cape, I hated deep forest but still gave it my all and I like the battle between you and runfast, I dont want him to go ahead because you didnt race! That would be a shame, cape is difficult at first but I am enjoying it after a little practice and tuning :)
Edit- Going for an hours practice now if anyone wants to join.

Lap times at the cape are falling fast! Lots of mangled FGT's will be crossing the finish line on sunday :)

Very consistant PB, you are by far the fastest on the ring section that I have seen. My best lap is 1.48.xxx
No way could I keep that up though unfortunatley, mostly 1.51's

I'm with KS, I absolutely detest cape ring. Sorry don't mean to complain but this track is the most unnatural thing I've had to drive since complex string, and that was alot more fun. This is the first track for me that while driving it I get a sick feeling in my stomach, I don't know why all I can think of is man this track is so unnatural. But I'll try to do this race, just won't be up to pace like you guys. Best I got is 1.51's then I get weirded out and have to quit

I knew some drivers would hate the ring, to me its a challenge. I have had to completely change my cars set up for the first time. (I hope I can remember the previous set up).
It will be a big mix up with so many pit strat options, some people struggling and a few crashes. I cant wait to see how everyone finishes :)
If I had to guess I think there is a good chance for someone to grab their first win here,
roll on sunday :)

@rhyf: I´ll race but every Lap I test is to much because we do a 35 lapper at Sunday.
Maybe 2 or three laps just looking for the carrousell thing curve to get it going there.
Curbs are a problem like on the Nordschleife I think ??

The penalty flaw only occurs at heavy damage (at least for me)=> I´m for light Damage or off.
Steward: Maybe :D
After the Race I could look at the Video of 4 people (but we need 3 "watchmen"). And Tuesday I could do another 3 (if needed).
I could do this this season too by the way.

I detest the ring, and will be out to toronto on sunday , so wont be able to make it (ill be at www.race2000.com from monday - wednesday)
Then im off for vacation in nova scotia

Will bring my ps3/wheel/pedals so i can compete in the cote dazur race :)

An Ape's ring would be better.I keep missing my line in some of the fast corners and sayin to myself "oh no" because she wont turn enough if you miss your line.Still way too many crashes for me.Spins kill the tyres.Hinchcliffe went there neth,he's been going great lately...ill miss ya...wont miss crackin infrunt of you,.

On quaili,id love doing it 1 at a time with everybody watching the laps, might take a while but is fun.Ban T/C.IMO ASF boggs the car down when pushed so why not try that if you want the aids not to be too helpfull,or have a factional war.i didnt like my first oval experience.the only reason i used to like it was too ram AI cars or bunch em up,or stop em dead on the pit wall, thats a favorite...very manic on the oval at full speed/power....time to rest brain, too much thinkin for today.

KS- Please remember we are all spinning a lot on the ring, after 3 laps it gets easier and the curbs are a total bitch here. Lots of tyre wear and a long race might be the decider :)
Heavy damage is out, over 50% of the racers want it to stay light so thats where it stays, you dont need to check 6 drivers either, it would be 4 each with 3 stewards and a back up if the roster gets full. Shall I add you to the stewards list now?

Neth- As always I will miss racing you at the ring mate but if your busy it cant be helped, glad your not going to miss Monaco, after seeing your ferrari race on there beating you will be a tall order.

PB- Haha, dont think too much bro! Everyone agrees that the ring is a toughie but that might turn it into an interesting race, you have the pace so if you can keep the car on the track and pit well this could be your first race win! TCS is looking like its out next season judjing by peoples opinions so far but we will wait for the vote I guess. In rgard to ASM I dont want to enable any aids, just remove some. The oval will be voted on too, if its 50-50 maybe we could have it as a mid week fun race with a load of cars and paint as prizes but not points, we will see.
Peace

Jepp you can count me in as a Steward ;)
Did a quick 4 Lap offline Test:
1:54.8xx as my best not pushing and my TM setup
=> I´m pleased with that pitting will be done at Racing
=> no Pit-strategy-Testing for me

Ok awesome, ill put you as a steward and send you a PM with which racers to watch, starting with Cape Ring. Appreciate that mate.
I dont know your current tune but I had to level out my handling a bit for this race, I normally tune for oversteer but couldnt handle this on the ring. Just a thought. Mixed racing tomorrow night if your around.
That goes for anyone else in the championship if you fancy it, starting about 830pm.
Peace

For tonight maybe.
I´ll give my best as a Steward ;)

Well I have an Understeer Set-up, because I´m a DS3 user
=> it´s not so easy at those speeds to react properly (compared to a Wheel user)

I tried a "normal" set-up I use (which is more tuned to Oversteer) and man I get killed from the FGT :D
=> I have a basis set-up that works very fine (normally I don´t change it) but at some Tracks I adjust ride-height and Spring-Rate a bit.

What are the chances of you picking up a wheel someday? Not just for the FGTC but it makes the game more enjoyable.
DFGT's are coming down in price now, not sure in euro's but I know someone who got a new one for £60 just the other day. Of course you need a place in the house to mount it and leave it if you play often.
You can do fine with a DS3 as you have shown but it takes much more concentration I think.

Hi alex, I have sent you a private message. I will add you when I get a response.
What colour is your car/cars?

Nicely done flood, if you can keep that going you will have a good race. Mixed racing tonight if your about.

To be honest I don't think a controller is a handicap, I used to use a controller in all the previous gt's. I was still using a controller at the start of gt5, and to be honest my lap times were quicker with the controller almost always, I just tried the cape last night with controller and I did the same lap times as with my wheel. I feel like I can correct for oversteer faster on controller, maybe because I use the d pad. What I think a wheel offers is the best experience, I can remember my first run at nurburgring with my new wheel, I was in complete awe at the bumps, the different steering angles needed, it was like a whole new game.

On a side note I'm curious what kinds of setups you all use? Also curious if anyone has tried the thrustmaster t500 rs?

My setup is just th DFGT with the bungie cord mod for the pedals

Snap oversteer can be corrected faster with the controller and also if you crash you can recover faster too in my opinion.
I was awful with the wheel at first but think it gives better precision for the racing lines and improves the general life of the game.
My set up works well but is a bit crap looking :) Its an old bedside cabinet with the innards pulled out, I then rased the height by 4 inches to get my legs under and re enforced the top table with some old shelves. It pulls nicely up to the settee (couch for the yanks!).

My lap times at cape ring are slow 152s 154s and 2:00 w worn tires from spinning! Trying to go fast w o spinning takes alot of practice. I can't find the perfect setup for me on this track yet! :( see ya raceday! Peace out
