I think it is quite interesting that they didn't use a modified version of the VR38DETT in this car and are instead using essentially a truck engine. They don't use the VR engine in JGTC either, so it isn't surprising, but I wonder why they settled on the VK56DE version of the engine instead of the VK45DE that they do use.

Trying to find a word to describe this FIA GT1 Nissan R35 GT-R... uh, awesome? Great looking car and great sounding car. It may have a tough time against some of the heavyweights in the series, but I'm surely in Nissan's corner for this championship. Best of luck to Nissan.

Toronado you clearly don't understand GT racing and engine characteristics well enough. The twin turbo V6 isn't used as I'm pretty sure turbo's aren't allowed. If they are I think the 3.8 is either to big or the regulations would strangle it of power (current GT regs don't really favor turbos).

The 4.5l V8 also isn't used as the car would be pathetic on the straights, that engine would be ok if it was a GT2 car. It quite a high-revving engine in race spec so they could get it to produce enough power but the torque would be pitiful compared to other GT1 engines. It's ok in Super GT as those are less powerful, and more like LMP cars so the better weight and lower power needed offsets the torque issue (most SGT engines are relatively the same anyway). Well it was allowed in SGT but from now on they need to be 3.4l N/A V8's.

The 5.7l is almost ideal as it's a (relatively) low revving engine so it produces much more torque. All the GT1 cars have pretty similar power due to air restrictors so it's really torque that makes the difference.

It only did 4 GT races didn't it? I don't get to see FIA GT very often as it is, and I don't follow it very closely so this is the first I've seen of it.
I had heard they were going to test it in some races but didn't know if they had and didn't see anything when it happened.

Well it got third place in GT1 at the Spa 24 Hours. So far this year it seems that out of the two 2010 GT1 cars to have run (there were two GT1 Ford GT's running this year), the Nissan isn't quite as fast as the Ford, but seems to be substantially more reliable.

Either way I like it, as it's actually an R35 deserving of the GT-R name (for me anyway).

Actually, I was just thinking out loud and don't really find it that important. Thanks for the explanation, though in the future perhaps you could do it in a way that makes you sound a bit less arrogant.

I saw this race at FIA GT at Silverstone earlier this year. It looked good, but running the 2010 regs meant it struggled against the Vette's and the Maserati's

It's nice to see Nissan finally letting the GT-R play with the big boys, but why did they choose to participate in Ratel's series? I'm sorry but I hate the SRO.

All of the manufacturers (i.e. Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette, Aston, Jaguar, & BMW) have said that they would prefer a unified GT class (GT2), and now ACO has chosen to allow FIA GT1 cars into LM 24h provided they run a full LMS or Asian LMS campaign.

As much as I would love to have seen Maserati MC12 in Le Mans, it's not quite the same without Corvette Racing going against Vitaphone.

And I refuse to accept this Nissan without proper homologation...It would be cool if Nissan build a GT2 car and raced against the big boys instead of entering into a dying class that no one will build cars for...
