I've read that the USA gets more televised football than any other nation on earth. At my own home for instance, I get

Major International Tournaments of course (World Cup, Euros, Confed Cup)
WC Qualifiers from five continents
Friendlies

English Premier League, between 5-10 matches per week
Bundesliga
Serie A
Ligue One from France
Scottish League
Dutch Eredivise
Spanish Premier League
Brazilian League
Mexican League
MLS
USA division 2
FA Cup
UEFA Cup
UEFAChampions League
CONCACAF Champions League
US Open Cup
North/Central American Clup competitions
J league on occasion and a weekly highlight show

And some I'm forgetting surely...

Where? The only place I ever see stuff is EPL on FOX and whatever is on Fox Soccer Channel, and if a Team USA/MLS game is on ESPN.

At the risk of a thread hijack...

I have Fox Soccer Channel, which shows most of the above.
Regional Fox Sports Networks (Fox Sports Midwest, Fox Sports Ohio, etc) have matches as well, but 90% of the time they are the same as those on the big Fox Networks and Fox Soccer Channel
ESPN chips in of course
I also have Gol TV
and the Spanish Speaking channels show matches as well I speak it well enough to watch and understand the announcers ok. Don't watch much if it though.
Local Pubs broadcast the occasional Pay Per View match.

Gotcha.

Back on topic, I acquired Balotelli from Man City, a random midfielder to go on my 2nd team (I like to have two of every position for weeks with two games), and am in negotiations with Clint Dempsey. Hulk was too expensive .

I guess if the thread title got switched, it could be one big FIFA thread instead of a new one every year.

Alright, I'm getting a bit frustrated with people using 5-star skill moves on me and not being able to get one shot on goal when I'm on Semi-Pro. I mean, I'm pretty sure those people are smart enough to adjust this crap to your skill level..

I mean seriously, if I'm looking to get my rear end waxed by another team whose players' jog is faster than my sprint, I'll play Legendary.

I knew you'd get Balotelli, he's just to hilarious in reality to pass up in game . I've sort of abandoned my game, you seem to be motoring through at quite a pace.

I just wish he'd take his jersey off after goals or have that mohawk hairdo .

Or get an injury from setting off fireworks in his bathroom or something similar I believe he did last year maybe (?).

All they'd have to do is type up a new injury email! And if you're wondering how I'm progressing quickly, I only play 4 or 6 minute halves and sim some games.

I never trust sim game, in any game when I sim a match or whatever my team takes the biggest loss possible regardless of opposition.

I've only done two in Premier League, I think they were a 1-1 draw and a 3-1 loss. When I was in League 1/Championship I would do pretty much half the season and win all but 2 or 3.

Just as a side note, can EA put the women's soccer national teams in future games? I doubt anyone would really care for the leagues, but the national teams would be cool just for tournaments and the like.

Agreed.

Olympic football has started. Japan struck first with a lovely goal. Worthy of any game any level, any gender.

What difficulty are you on? I'm doing semipro and the league is easy but the late stages of cups are killing me .

Is it offside called in real life on shots that rebound off the goalie/bar? I don't think it is, but I only started watching soccer recently so I'm not sure.

Im on World Class. Semi-Pro is too easy and Legendary is too hard for me. World Class is just perfect but then again my team is worse than all the others in the league so I guess Legendary would be more accurate!

BTW I play Fifa 12, not 11 (didnt realise the thread) :dopey:

Cant wait for 13 :)

Lloyd's goal for us was simply spectacular.

Saw it last night on replay. Excellent strike.

This US team is fun to watch indeed. Don't get me wrong, the women's game is nowhere near the quality of the men's... Not being discriminatory based on gender, but rather fact and personal preference

The US Womens Team that won a World Cup from the Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy era played the USA Youth national team (under 18's I think) in a scrimmage and got absolutely destroyed. Bigger, faster, stronger.

Maybe that's why the Women's Teams are not in FIFA? So people don't trounce the top women's teams 15-0 with Scunthorpe?

That's an idea. Maybe they could have it separated though, if they were to do it.

Nah, SA's goal was where its at :)

Any of you getting 13?, The new Fifa is always a Preorder for me. Only Fifa and Battlefield i ever preorder :)

I'm considering it, since I'm still undecided about Black Ops 2. I'm probably getting both, just unsure which I'll get at release.

Continuing with the trend of picking new teams every season (after totally decimating the transfer budget of the old ) I took the only other offer I had: Arsenal. It feels pretty cool working from Port Vale all the way to the top of EPL, rather than just starting with a powerhouse. I just hope the Everton team I built with Balotelli, Dempsey, and Carlos Vela (who I unknowingly stole from my future self in the January transfer window ) won't beat me so I can meet the goal of top 2! My transfer plans now are to acquire Ibrahimovic and Neymar.

And what's a "Domestic Cup" according to the My Career screen? Because I (finally) won the F.A. Cup and League Cup the last season I played and it says 0 for that still.

Finally didn't switch teams. I guess I'll stay put at Arsenal, since I don't want any of the Bundesliga/Ligue 1/Serie A offers. I guess I'm rather picky now, since all I can see myself accepting is Chelsea, ManU or ManC, Juventus/Inter, or Barca/Madrid.

I think I'm gonna lay off stealing players from Barcelona, since that's the goal to be . I only bought Zlatan from there, so damage is very small. With that logic, I'll pass up Messi for now and buy Ronaldo if I can sell a few more players.

Does anyone know if you can have two different Career Modes at once?

Thanks. I'm thinking about having the Manager Mode that I have now (which I play the games in) and then making another one to sim all the games, just to see how my managing skills are :).

Played my very first game on Legendary today (my only higher level game was a 3-1 defeat on World Class) and won, using USA against Mexico :). Hopefully that's a good omen for our game in a few days :D.

I've been playing this a lot recently, playing against friends and stuff and it absolutely perplexes me. I played on professional (I'm not that good) And with Russia I beat Brazil 4:0 and I had quite a few more chances.
But then I play Mali and I couldn't beat them, it was 2 all in the end. But whenever I got the ball in the mid field there were 3 players around me and I get absolutely beasted off the ball with no free kick. As soon as I make a similar challenge on them then get a free kick. This happened numerous times.
Then when I had a goal kick I passed short to one of my defenders but the player froze, he literally just stopped moving and the ball went straight through to their striker and they scored.
None of my players were able to get them off the ball because they would either be out paced by them, or they just weren't strong enough to get them off the ball.

There were just massive inconsistencies, it almost felt as though it was fixed, like the game decided I wasn't going to win.

Has this been worked out of the newer games? It's seriously been putting me off buying them.

It's not just about the players levels, tactics can play a big role and naturally some formations and styles will annoy you and cause problems. Similarly certain players are more annoying to play against, pace is always a key to success and I often build my squad to have as quick as I can get wingers and at least 1 striker but they usually end up being weaker so strong defenders just hassle them off the ball with no contest if you run anywhere near them.

The long and short of it, the game is just a set of numbers, codes, algorithms, there's no special fixing mechanic involved and why would there be? We see it in real football all the time when a high end team just can't break seemingly easy opponents. The AI will get bumped up a bit for derby and cup games when much is at stake, rightly so, but otherwise it's a combination of player stats, formations and tactics of both teams with placebo and luck sprinkled in as well.

If I find myself struggling I try to just switch up my tactics, only in the late stages of a match I'm losing will I get desperate for goals but by playing fairly long (8 min half) matches because I have more time to get back in to it by playing normally instead trying to force the issue immediately. I also suggest just keeping ahold of the ball for longer, knock it around defense and mid-field for a while and just try to look for the gaps instead of trying to just go forward like I see alot of other people do trying constantly to go forward instead of looking around and keeping the ball, so often they end up just wasting it and being on the back-foot again.

Moved to Manchester United from the juggernaut I built at Arsenal.. Not sure if Rooney and the gang can hang with Donovan, Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo but I suppose I like a challenge..

If a moderator sees this, is there a possible way we could just turn this into a general FIFA thread? I really don't feel like starting a new one for '13, since FIFA 12 maybe got about 12 replies .
