For those of you who can't watch the games on TV, there is free live streaming on espn3.com

This game is rubbish! We are chating about some of it in the Live Chat thing by the way.

Thats what i thought... but if the rest of the world calls it Football (by its original name), i think they should (in this thread) refer to it has football.

I created this thread, and I'm from a country which refers to the sport as football. However, this forum is based in the US, and the American owner of this site has created thread tags for us to use to distinguish sports. He calls Association Football (its original name, by the way) "soccer" and American Football "football" and the tags reflect this.

The US team is a tough match to England, common sense is suggesting a victory of the English team, but judging for what we saw in confederations cup, I bet that the Englishmen will face many difficulties tomorrow. 2 - 1 in a tough match. I'll be rooting for England. ;)

Well that was a disappointment. If France carry on like that they'll only play another two games in these finals.

That was an amazing game! But enough about my addiction to Solitaire... France v Uruguay was absolutely dreadful :yuck:

I don't like the outcomes so far, this is gonna cost me big time. :banghead:

I feel like I wasted 90 mins of my life there. I'm sure tomorrow will be far more exciting - Greece vs S Korea will be a blinder

I'm pretty sure I put this match down as a 0-0 2 months ago when my wife's work sent a World Cup spreadsheet round as a competition.

Part of the reason this match was so boring, was because both teams defended relatively well. I can't see South Africa or Mexico putting goals past either France or Uruguay's defence. Given that both Mexico and South Africa's defence looked relatively poor, I wouldn't put it past France or Mexico to score.

Long story short, If France and Uruguay don't both go through, I will be amazed.

Yes, the defending was good. There were numerous excellently timed tackles and generally, it was a well contested game, yawn. I couldn't help but think the French were way too conservative and played it more like a friendly than a tournament.

That's a bit strong isn't it Stevi?

It is a bit of an overstatement, I should have said, 'I expect France and Uruguay will most likely go through'. Looking at the attributes of the teams, its going to be hard work for either South Africa or Mexico to break through The France or Uruguay defence. Such a goal will require either; a decent amount of luck, a significant change in tactics and organsation, or a poor show from France or Uruguay.

Of course this is the world cup, and stranger things have happened.

Gosh those bloody horns they are using in South Africa (the Vuvuzela) are literally ruining the world cup for me, its just sounds like a permanent drone like bee's buzzing non stop and it ruins the atmosphere. Plus you can't hear the crowd or the commentary very well over it.

I've tried everything on my TV to turn the buzzing down but keep the commentary up but to no avail. This has never been a problem in the previous 2 world cups! What a dissapointment so far to spend all this money on the event and have it ruined by cheap plastic horns.

Robin.

I turned the confederation's cup matches off because they were annoying me so much. It's been alright so far though these finals, perhapsI have got used to them.

And Greece continue to make the world wonder how they won the European Championships...

It's a mystery, they are truly awful. On the plus side, the first 14 mins of this has had more excitement than the whole of the France vs Uruguay game. Maybe Mr Daily Mail reader might want to rethink showing only the 'big guns' and not the lesser teams!

Nothing satisfies me more than seeing Greece lose, hoping to see four more Korean goals!

I love how they use Park Chu Young. He's my favorite asian player.

South Korea making a good case for them being second favourite to go through in the group now.

I haven't see Japan, yet, but so far S.K. seems to be the strongest Asian team in the event(they have proofen their value in previous world Cups).
Those boys can really run:scared:
I'm just hoping their Nothern neighbours are not so good:nervous:

They are. Nice goal by JS Park. And CY Park was right there to collect a rebound. Greece really can't deal with counterattacks at all.

I think you're right about S. Korea bsing the strongest asian team but I wouldn't read to much into this game, Greece would make my local 5-a-side team look good the way they're defending!

As for N. Korea, they are nowhere near as good, the lowest ranked team at the tournament (even with their star player Kim Jong-Il  )

:lol::lol::lol:

He is without doubt their most frightful player:scared::D

First win in the tournament goes to South Korea 👍

RoK rocked the house. Good job. I love their aggressive style of play. Greece played like spoiled tzatziki.

Now waiting impatiently for the first clash of TITANS:

Argentina vs Nigeria...👍👍👍
