Well, if he's talking about look, then I repeat my first post. It's not all about how it looks.

Actually that's why I kinda don't like the newer ones, I mean the graphics are so detailed. Wheras with the older games don't look as good so you have to use your imagination a bit more. Although I did realy enjoy Xenosaga and i'm huge Xenogears fan.

Of course, I didn't play the game 'cause of the graphics. But I would be pissed, if the next FF would look like, for example, FF7.

BTW, I'm sure that the next FF will suck.

How can you tell? The only thing that may be a turn-off is the new fighting system wich is a bit more complex compared to those of the previous games.

I would say no. It was a big disappointment for me. But if extra money, go for it.

well i think i might buy it so that i can draw my own conclusions bout the game although at the moment, i dont think too highly of it. Thanks.

I liked what I read about the battle system of the next FF. Although no doubt the story/characters will be crap or highly irritating, or most likely both.

I've seen some pics of the new FF, and the womens clothes were just getting smaller. That's why I think it will suck.

And how is the new fighting system different?

Here's a piece from the Gamespy preview of the game.

"The combat system is very different from previous Final Fantasy games. You won't see random enemy attacks or quick transitions from the level to combat. Skirmishes in FFXII are seamless. If you see an enemy, you can choose to run away like a coward or engage. Unlike past games, the environment plays a significant part of combat. Choosing the best place to attack and defend from can mean the difference between victory and defeat.

When you attack an enemy, a blue arc is displayed between you and your target. The same goes for your party, so you can see who your team is going after. As for your foes, red arcs represent their chosen prey. If you see four red lines pointed at you, then you sure as hell better run to a more advantageous spot in the environment.

Now, there are still some commonalities between the fighting system in this game and the ones found in its predecessors. Though you can let battles play out in real time, it's smarter to take pauses in the action to coordinate optimal strategies.

When you're not in battle, you can use the d-pad to select which character in your party you control, as well as any non-player characters you want to target for actions. Overall, the new navigation and fighting system took a few minutes to get used to, but felt quite natural after a short while.

At any given time, you can adventure with three characters. You can swap others from your roster. Control freaks can choose to select every single move their team members make. The more adventurous types can control the main character, while using "gambit" commands for the others. These are general orders, such as attack, heal, defend, etc. The characters AI kicks in under gambit mode and the character acts fairly independently. The system worked in the few battles I played, but how effective it is in the long haul has yet to be determined."

That sounds quite promising actually.

Graphics don't make a game, but they do improve it. As long as gameplay, and in this case story, remain the MAIN focus, I have no problem improving graphics. It's when you focus on shinier graphics instead of better gameplay you get ****ty titles.

Has graphics detracted from gaming and gameplay? Well, yes and no. It depends on your personal preference. You can argue games were better on the SNES, but it's the same as any debate of past vs present - no one will ever agree and nothing will ever be comparable.

the battle system sounds alot like FFXI....i mean its kinda the same in some ways in FFXI you can also run away from your monsters but some of the moster aggro... and that sucks!! cause you get near them and they will come after you. but yea it sound alot like FFXi battel system too

oh in FFXI some moster wont attack you and some will and in order for a monster to attack you they got to be aggro aka agravate them sorry for the mispelling but yea....thats in FFXI

FF 7 was awesome but I got to the clock boss guy, and couldn't beat him, so I stopped playing. Got 10 a month ago and am loving it.

The new fighting system does actually sound quite cool. And graphics dont really make a game, its the gameplay.

Hmmm, The lost number in Sephiroths mansion.

i remember there were two forms of lost number you could fight, a red one or a blue one. i think the red one was the version that had attacks exceeding 2200 and the blue one was the one that was defeatable(attacks of 200). When i fought the harder version for the first time i was swatted like a fly. When i got back to the box the next time, the computer fortunately gave me the easier form to fight, whom i could beat.

Yep Lost number was ****ing hard.

Well I never played a FF game since FF6....
Although I loved the two Tactics games....
Both of them were in the world of Ivalice I believe~
The PSone FFT had a heavy story line that I enjoyed(Although I never beat the game) And the GBA one had several new races(Well Moogles were always somewhere but) that had different classes... Although the story was a total dissapointment, the missions (300 of them all) were fun to play... Maybe because of that skill learning idea(Used in FFX2 later on)...
I got excited to hear that FF XII would go on with the much unknown background of Ivalice (Although it isn't the same Ivalice in the GBA or PS2). BTW the main character and female role in FFXII reminds me of the two in the GBA title(Blond and Red hair and all)...Interestingly, Squarenix announced that there is no romance between the two....

FF7 Loved it
FF8 Loved it
FF9 Old school, enjoyed it
FF10 Enjoyed
FFX-2 liked it
FF11 Not going to pay to play
FF12 Waiting quetly

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:

ooOOoo YAY! For such the newbness I am in this site, I didnt really got the chance to search out the other kind of forums this site have. But now I finally did and found out that this site is so kewl!!!! :embarrassed:

Final Fantasy Series! o YAY!:embarrassed: I am a late Final Fantasy Fan because back then I only have a Sega Genesis but no SNES. I got into Final Fantasy for the first time when I got my Playstation on the first day it release.

Final Fantasy X was my first Final Fantasy. I played it for many hours and love every moment of its love story between Yuna and Tidus :( :( . Especially at the end of the game...*begins to cry* :( oOooo its so painful the way Square made the ending cinamatic...Its just so touching how Tidus have to leave Yuna...because he just a dream of the faith.:( It was so touching that I cried for about an hour after seeing the ending and I was kinda being sad for three days at home and school all over the ending of FFX.

Final Fantasy X inspired me to get others. I then picked up Final Fantasy IX. I really love the melodies of Life song..its so nice!! And I also forgot to say that Suteki Da Ne is too! :embarrassed: I thought FF9 was a really fun one but not really better than X in my opinion.

Next up was Final Fantasy VII!!!:D   I didnt mind the graphic since I understand how PS1 and PS2 games are very different in graphics for sure  My personal favorite in that game is Tifa! its fun to have some kind of lead female character to support the hero Cloud! :embarrassed: I luv the idea of how Sephiroth   is attempting to use Meteor to destroy the world because of his own research of how I think its the Cetra people are the one that should be living.:odd:  anyways, Cloud fought Sephiroth at the end and uses Omnislash!!!!

Final Fantasy X-2 to me was a BIGGG ONE:embarrassed: Because of how its an "ALL GURLS" team. :embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed: I really luv the fast pace gameplay and how you can chain in combos with almost any attacks except healing  I even got the Tiny Bee Controller when I played the game and luv the controller although I bought it for $260 bucks off of Ebay with the help of my friends :embarrassed: I really luv the story of Lenne and Shuyin and how it all came together that Shuyin is using Vegnagun in anger to get his revenge on Spira for killing him and Lenne. I luv this story so much, that I even wrote a poem for english class!!!!:embarrassed: It was so touching to my teacher that she just had to post it on the school wall for people to see. I'll post my poem later on!

final Fantasy VIII is the latest one I bought as "Greatest Hits" about 2 monthes ago. I am now on the 3RD disc and luving the storyline so far, but especially the relation of Squall and Rinoa. I already was attracted to the theme song of it "Eyes on Me" sung by Faye Wong. I have one of her CDs that have it and it came surprise to me when people told me that my favorite song "Eyes" on Me" is the theme song of it and I was like "AIYAAAAAAAAAAAA!":embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed: I find it touching again of how Squall is the type of person who doesnt express his feelings toward people. Rinoa is trying to make him express his feelings to everyone and her. She even is in love with him, but its too bad squally doesnt know how to express his feeling to her. :( :( But eventually I know something is gonna happen!!:embarrassed: :embarrassed:

Okie yea! any questions?
:embarrassed:

Negatory,Final Fantasy XII(12) is a single player only game.So far it's shaping up really good,i like the characters(please god don't let their voice actors suck),the new battle system sounds promising and i hope te game world is huge, like Final Fantasy X but then 3 times bigger.Undoubtedly the story will be good as in most FF games the case was.

XII will propably be a great thing. It just that those clothes are so soft-core..... I hate that.

PS. I don't mean that they should be hard core. :D

edit:// Now that I look at champs pics up there ^^ I noticed that the clothes aren't too bad. One of the girls (don't know if there are many girls so I'll just say one of the girls ;)) has a skirt which is basically two pieces of leather put together with a belt. But because her 'boots' are so long there is hardly any skin to be seen. Way to go, Square Enix.

Btw, does anyone know why did Squaresoft change it's name?

Btw, does anyone know why did Squaresoft change it's name?

Because they merged with Enix, who make the Dragon quest RPG's which are older than the FF series but never managed the same worldwide success.

I will now go and make an omlet.

Any Final Fantasy players in here? I have played Vll, X and X-2. They are so good. It's just that I hate the sexuality that has come an important part of the FF series. Take X-2 for an example. OMG! Those Japanese are so pathetic (sorry for the stereotype).

But anyway. Tell me what ever you want. As long as your post involves Final Fantasy, I approve you.
I've played just about every final fantasy out there and have beaten them. They are great games. X-2 isnt my bag though. FFVII was the best in my opinion. :)

Race Idiot
Here goes.
FF1 - Great
FF2 - Dunno never played
FF3 - Dunno
FF4 - Dunno
FF5 - Awesome
FF6 - Awesomer
FF7 - About the same level of awesomeness
FF8 - Ok
FF9 - Crap
FF10 - Didn't even bother
FF10-2 - Don't care
Every FF after those - Don't care

I don't have the time to play those sorts of games anymore anyway.
Agreed. ffx-2 was 👎
