Since I've lowered my truck and now it's getting preped for bags, I felt that I should get a daily driver so I don't screw up my truck. If you've ever been to Michigan you know how bad the roads are. Well this is waht I got and I got one great deal on it too.

A 2000 Saturn LS with a 3.0L V6 (182hp). It had 80k miles on it, which wasn't bad a little high but not bad, but the best part is I got it for only $2,000 from a private seller. I picked it up Friday night, please excuse the dirt the guy I bought it from lived way out in the sticks.

The pros: 👍
- Great mileage (compared to the Blazer)
- Gets up and goes for a little car
- Dent resistant panels (I want to kick the door really bad :D)
- Wood grain on the interior (ya sometimes it the simple things  )

The cons: 👎
- It's little
- Rough ride (but so is the Blazer)

You know I'm going to have a real problem with this car, I hate things stock. I already ordered some clear corners for it and I'm looking at the Eibach spring kit for it. I shouldn't be allowed to buy another car unless its some crappy little thing I can't customize or refuse to.

Your horsepower equals your cubic-inch displacement.

That's the sole thing that I enjoy about the Saturn L-series.

Actually in 2000 it wasn't so bad. When 2002 came around, and every single Japanese rival was redesigned yet Saturn continued trying to sell the least-powerful V6 midsize sedan on the market, then it got bad. By the way, the vehicle was never "officially", "technically" called the LS. When they were testing the waters in 1999, they tried the name LS on focus groups, who ate it up - they then told the automotive press that indeed it would be called the LS, only to be threatened with lawsuits by Lexus and Lincoln, both of whom had ties to the name - Lincoln through a recent copyright and Lexus through the use of the name since 1990. The vehicle was indeed called the LS in 2000, but it wasn't badged as such, and the name was changed the following year (to L-series).

So funny... "daily driver" because your SUV or truck isn't suitable. Friend of mine had a raised up old Blazer 2dr. and you could see over Suburbans :scared: he got an accord because he couldn't afford to drive his blazer. 👎

yeah we have the worst roads i have ever been on. the other day i found out about a 1 foot deep by about 2 1/2 foot wide hole. it was in a parking lot for "pete's" sake! my dad pretty much drives in the middle of the road where the road is not ruined yet  congrats on the saturn. a friend of mine has one and his seems like a good daily driver. i guess he got into a little accident. he messed up the other guys car but he just had a little tire mark on his door, although he has broken off his mirror somehow like 5 times. he goes through mirrors in about a month :dunce:

The reason for the daily driver is mainly because once I bag the Blazer I think its going to be a summer show truck. One that I only drive to and from the shows and go crusing when the time calls for it. I don't want to drive a bagged truck in the winter.

Ya and Michigan roads are crap. I keep breaking suspesion componets on the Blazer. Hell I had a nasty blow out on the freeway the other day, blew the tire out and broke the tie rod. But thankfully I have road side assisstance and got my ass towed home where it took me about an hour to fix my truck. That might not seem bad but when its 10 degrees out it seeme like a long time.

Nice little car - I love how it is dirty...there's just something I like about cars being covered in mud or road salt. Strange, I know.

Saturns are alright winter drivers. Most of them are fitted with economy ultra skinny tires that do real well in snow. A kid I know bagged his F-150, and I must say it looks alot better than raising it.

You're thinking of the S-series models; the L-series was more substantial in every regard, tires included.

Now you'll wish that the one garage spot wasn't a room.

Actually the enitre thing is my mom's embroidery shop. I have no garage to park my car or my truck in.

That is strange, but there is no sense in washing a car during the winter. It get nasty as soon as you drive it, and it freezes up on you.

Ah how imaginative saturn is. these names are pure gold. Ther compact is called the Small series and their mid-size is called the Large series.

(The actual confirmed meanings of the two names. Confirmed by a saturn rep at an auto show. )

Try telling that to my boss. That's what my actual job is. He has 3 people hired just to wash his trucks. When we're done we have to let them sit overnight in the shop with fans on them.

I washed my truck once this winter, and the doors were frozen shut for 2 days. Hot water wouldn't even do it because it would just freeze again. I hate Michigan.

Well I can confirm for you that that's completely incorrect. When the Saturn models debuted in 1991, the intent was to take on Japanese compacts like the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. At the time, GM never envisioned anything as large as the L-series being a Saturn product. The original names were given, not as a size designation, but simply with the "S" standing for "Saturn". SC and SW had obvious names - the SC was the "Saturn Coupe", the SW was the "Saturn Wagon". Meanwhile, the "SL" was the "Saturn sedan", with SL being thought of as a better name than "SS" for a multitude of reasons.

There's a chance the L-series was named "L" simply because it was 'larger' than the S-series, whose name scheme fell apart a couple years after debuting because no-one understood it. It makes sense, after all. But that wasn't the original reasoning behind the name scheme of the S-series.

Congrats on the new ride. Thats a great deal for a 2000. I also have a Saturn. Its a 1996. 30mpg city 40mph highway. Mine is extremely slow and just so tiny but at least it gets good gas mileage. So far ive had mine almost 2 years and it has been extremely dependable. Still hate it.
I live in Michigan too so I know all about the crappy winter weather. Since the panels are plastic they wont rust either.
