Which trim level?

Well, I am getting closer to getting this car. I went to the Credit Union today to apply for a loan. However, because my overall credit is just being established and this is my first ever loan, I will have to get my dad to cosign. I'm not too worried about that because I should get a better rate than if they were to go in it with myself.

Dealer options for loans are 4.9 for 48 months or 1.9 for 36 (i think....could be 24) So I think I will get a better deal at the C.U. But my adviser did take a look at the model I am interested in, which will most likely be the sport trim with nothing but wheel locks as an option. I'm asking for $23000 but she estimated the most they could give me is $22900. I did take a look at the invoice and it is $20500; thats quite a dealer markup they have going on.

So, once approved (hopefully) I can get to talking the dealer down on the price. One guy I've talked to says he has a Sport trim in Blue he will sell for $22900, pretty much the loan amount, but I am going to try and get the car with tax, title and tag included, for $21,500 to start and see what all I can get him to offer me.

Suggestions on approaches to haggling? I know that since this is a "rare" car, dealers will probably not be in the haggling mood if they can turn around and sell it to some moron for the sticker price. But I will try my hardest to keep it under $22000.

Got a great deal on the car and I was alreading that way to see my girlfriend up the mountain so I said I would stop by and take a look. Cosmic Blue Mica Sport trim with no options but wheel locks. I can't wait to pick it up on Tuesday! Pics to come soon.

Well, yesterday afternoon I went up to the dealership with the check from the credit union and picked up my first-ever new car. Picked it up clean, full tank and with only 17 miles on the ODO.

It was too dark when I got home, so I waited until this morning to take some pictures. The neat thing about the Cosmic Blue color is that it changes so much with the time of day. Last night it had a gray look when seen under ambient street lighting. This morning, a crisp blue color in the sun.

The second picture is bad, I know, but I had to get to work so no fooling around with the settings. So far I absolutely love the car. I have to be really careful about going too fast, before you know it your cruising at 80 on the highway and you just put it in 5th...and thats just spirited driving! Finally getting a chance to drive it alone was also a treat, I really got to test some of the handling aspects. You can definitely feel the DSM working around on-ramps to keep the rear end snug and the TCS keeping the power in line. Overall I think it will be a great daily driver. I don't plan on doing anything to the car except for maybe a K&N filter. Anyways, thought I would share!

👍 Dude, very cool! When I was looking into a new car earlier this August, it was a toss up between the Subie and the Speed6. Cool call on the new ride. Any mods in mind down the road?

Nice! That's an excellent color. A bit darker but the same idea as my wife's TSX - and yes, the different ways it responds to light are cool. Very nice purchase!

Awesome ride dude!👍

Those things are very fast. I've always like to see how great the thing really is.

And how do the driving aids regulate wheel spin? My TCS ect. doesn't seem to do anything to slow down the front wheels so I have a lot of trouble taking off from stoplights quickly, and turning is the worst. And it is really exhilarating when ASM or whatever steps in to keep the rear end in check. You can really feel it! But make sure you turn it off for hairpins. My car tries to keep the front going where the wheel is pointed, not where the spinning tires want to go.

I'm quite jealous :D. When I was looking last year, there weren't many MS3's to be found, and those that existed were being sold for $28,000. Maybe now it's time for my car to get a big brother :sly:. I wonder what my mom would say if I bought another car...

The second picture is bad, I know, but I had to get to work so no fooling around with the settings.

That's actually a decent picture, the contrast is key. Just need to frame the subject a lil better (more of the road/trees to the left, infront of the car) and you got a pretty great picture.

I thought that they were only offered in red and white?!?

Yeah, I actually like the 2nd better too. R&T showed them only in red and white, but I saw one later in black, so concluded that more colors were added.

Very nice car, I love the colour you got on it 👍! I hope you are enjoying it.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I love it so much but I still haven't pushed it to its full potential yet. It still has less than 200 miles on it and i'm giving it till about 500 at least until i push it to redline.

The MS3 comes in 4 colors. Black Mica, True Red, Sunlight Silver (i think) and Cosmic Blue. The black, red and silver can all be Mazda3 colors as well but the Cosmic Blue is specific to the Mazdaspeed3

And yes, this thing IS a bundle of joy. I feel like a kid getting his license for the first time because I look forward to driving so much!

Will you be able to get it to a track to find it's top speed? Just curious....
