FF3 has been crashing whenever I try to download a file, so I created a new profile just in case the default one was corrupt.

I imported my bookmarks and whatnot into the new profile. However, that's caused its own host of problems - namely, half my bookmarks now point to various news.bbc.co.uk pages... and even if I manually edit the addresses to point to where they should be pointing, when I restart the browser they reset to the news.bbc pages again!

Help please? :(

Turns out creating a new profile hasn't fixed the crashes when attempting to download a file. I've deleted downloads.sqlite as suggested on the Mozilla kb site; still no change.

I *think* I've fixed the download crashes - I had been using Download Statusbar 0.9.6.5 as a replacement for the standard FF download manager; I've since disabled that addon and the crashes appear to have stopped :)

edit: I spoke too soon, they're still happening :(

The crashes are still happening :(

I've upgraded to FF3.5, but that hasn't made the slightest bit of difference. I have noticed that the crashes are very rare when using my university's wireless connection; and are very common here on my home 56k line.

I've noticed WLM has a lot of trouble signing in on my home connection, which would suggest that these crashes are being caused by some sort of connection issue. Does that sound feasible, and if so, why would an iffy connection cause FF to die when trying to download a file?

I could put up with the crashes if Firefox doesn't erase the damn cache each time it dies, mind... :grumpy:

Anyone have any ideas?
