My protection is SSID.. Works fine.

You know that people can scan for SSIDs? All they have to do is enter your SSID and log into your network. I would use someone sort of password protection like WEP.

Yeah that's true, but my dad thinks it's fine so I don't care really ;)

MAC address filtering for a "Allowed List" is also a handy little security feature for wireless networks. Even if they have your pass phrase, even if they can see your network, unless you have their MAC address included in the routers "Allowed List", they will never be able to use your network. This feature may not be available on all routers.

G.T check the website, is says 2.01 update not 2.50

Not sure where you are getting that, but here's a quote directly from that site:

An update to PSP™ system features was made available on October 13, 2005.
If you update your PSP™ system, the system software will be version 2.50.

Features updated in system software version 2.50 include the following:

Like Pako quoted, if you read a little further down the page update is 2.50. It looks as if Sony haven't updated the top of the page yet.

Wow, this update is rather interesting. "LocationFree" player looks like another attempt by Sony to launch proprietary products, though. Seems like a cool idea but having to buy yet more hardware to do stuff with my PSP is hardly appealing. :-/ Besides, I have dial-up. lol

Some of the other features look decent, but it will be a while before I can test drive it.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I think Sony really got something interesting with the LocationFree player thingy. :embarrassed: I think Sony is also trying to draw in more money by trying to bring out more interesting updates to stir people away from homebrew. Some future updates can also require us PSPers to buy more Sony hardware too. :embarrassed:

Sony puts updates in so if people want to use these they have to buy their hardware. Ahh well, what did you else suspect? It's Sony..

Its all about the money is why! :embarrassed: I don't mind spending some cash on more hardware as long as its not too expensive :nervous: The biggest problem is just buying a PSP is all I see.

for locationfree TV to work on the psp, do you have to buy a locationfree player pak? or just the PC software?
Do you actually know the difference between Hardware and Software? Becaus Viper Z. said hardware and you are coming up with Software questions. And it's really expensive, it's not that Sony give's you free TV options..

i've had an idea for the new firmware update, when the psp shuts out of power, it doesn't give u time to press the start button to puse your game, i think on the new firmware update, a bar appears at the top of the screen telling you that the PSP will turn off in 10 seconds, what do you think? oh, and be able to play small video clips as your background!

I think it already does.

It gives you a visual warning on the screen and the battery light blinks.

Yup it does, the battery ran out on me in LCS today. Battery life in that game is truly dreadful...
