 there is nothing left of it! They must have been absolutely flying. I'm not so upset about the dumbass driving as he probably deserved what he got, but I feel sorry for the friends and family that are going to have to deal with this and the emergency crews that had to clean up afterwards.

Oh. My. God.

The foolish nature of youth will never settle in my mind fully. To do that, to put four other lives at risk... in just thoughtless.

I cannot imagine how it must feel to be those kids' parents. Regardless of how stupid the kid driving may have been, no one deserves that.

Sorry, but I feel no sympathy except for the families. Teens have been told for years not to drink & drive, yet Mr. Idiot here decides, "Hey, let's take my dad's BMW out for a ride while we're all drunk."

Textbook situation that led to an unsurprising end.

Would it be possible to invent some kind of breath sensor in the car so that if the driver is drunk the engine is cut?

A big problem would be is how do you do it for the driver only..

so they were flying up and down the runway, then for some reason they just didnt stop? and went off the end of the runway at what looks like 200kph?

It seems we see more of this everyday. My daughter is 18 and we always worry when they go out partying. Thank God her boyfriend does not drink or take any drugs. It seems to be a factor in most of these scenes. SAD

Everyone in the car was foolish and when they got in that car they all should have known the risk they were taking. I do not understand how some people don’t realise how truly mentally impaired they are when they’ve been drinking.

I don’t like driving the morning after a big night, how can people think in any way shape or form that they can drive effectively when they’re drunk? Let alone at high speed. Fools.

I agree, those idiots deserve it if alcohol was to blame, I never drink when I drive EVER!

"Hey, let's take my dad's BMW out for a ride while we're all drunk."
...on a RUNWAY, no less. Did they think their car might achieve lift-off?

Sometimes, Floridians manage to lower the smart bar so low, they bury it.

Does anybody watch TV these days? Every channel has those "if your going to drink, always designate a driver" commercials, people need to learn to listen. :retard smiley face:

um...and they were on a runway, to boot. granted, that's not the best place to go excessivley fast, but it's not a public highway, either.

this shows you can NOT drink and get behind the controls of a heavy machine. I'm glad they didn't get on the road and pull off a stunt like that. someone innocent would've been killed.

Reminds me of an incident in my neighborhood, where 4 kids died after crashing into a tree. It was only a couple of days after their graduation.

it amazes me how people can be so RETARDED people wonder why i DO NOT DRINK
There are three types of drunken folk:

Type 1: "I can't drive. Let's call a cab."
Type 2: "I probably shouldn't drive, but I think I can get home. Everyone be cool."
Type 3: "Let's steal my dad's car and see how fast it can go."

The first two aren't likely to cause any major trouble. The third...well, stupid is as stupid does. I can't say I'm all broken up about this (though it is a waste of a good BMW). It's not the first time this has ever happened, and it won't be the last. Score another point for the 21-year-old drinking age .

Why drink in the first place?

Am I happy I don't drink ANY alcohol, AT ALL, I'll stick with my soda :p

There was a fatal accident out here in October with four kids from the local high school. It's scary that this kind of stuff seems to happen all the time.

I wonder if the driver was trying to do fancy spins or something on that runway. Do BMWs often get themselves sideways and way out of control at high speeds? Especially on a runway, which is designed for high speeds? Maybe he just slammed on the brakes too hard.

I wonder what model it was. Poor car. I feel really bad for the father who lost his $80,000 car.

Wasn't he drunk?

How much can you really do when you're really drunk? You can't even walk in a straight line, how are you supposed to keep a car in a straight line at such speeds?

Pretty much any car can be your coffin when you're drunk...

I don't think the father would care about his car, well at least not as much as his child.

When will teens ever understand...

That would require them to actually listen to adults, and that's just not cool if you're a teenager.

If I had to guess maybe some sort of 5 series or even an M5... *shrug*.

I feel almost no remorse for the driver or his family, let alone the kids in the car. Getting in a car with a drunk driver is a bad idea. Their fault. Id say the BMW was a 550i or a low end 750i, just my guess.

Alcohol is not the problem. It's only the idiots who seem to lose function of every single brain cell that's the problem. Most of us wouldn't even contemplate getting behind the wheel while drunk.

They have a system where you have to breath into a breathalizer before you can start the car. You'll find them often on cars of people that have gotten a DUI and have worked out an agreement with the court to reduce their penalty.
