This. Everyone also seemed to shoot off at the beginning, must of been a pack of about 5 trying to a set a quali all together. A few waited back, and well to be honest, you have a clear track. Ok, maybe one lap you'll catch someone up but its not constant so its no bother. IMO there's no need to change the quali, just people should hold up a little, there's plenty of time to quali.

I agree... the lap timer doesn't start until you do a full lap after leaving the pits. That's when I let a gap to the car in front develop. Or if someone is charging up behind me I'll let them go and create another gap.
The tracks are big enough to have 16 cars circulating without anyone getting in the way. It's 90% your own fault if you get held up.
The other 10% is when people need to look in their mirror after they've made a mistake. If I blow a lap with a tail wobble or something I make sure to check my mirror and let anyone by that would be held up.

I've not had a problem with traffic, when i'm on my out lap I'll just take my time keep out of the way until there's a good gap both in front and behind so I don't catch anyone and no one catches me. If someone does catch me I know there going alot faster than me or I've made a mistake in which case I'll get out of the way.

No need to make a change. Same conditions for everyone. F1 has the same issues. SCCA has the same issues. It's all part of the event. Those who hook up with a friend and qualify with the draft will do better than those who pull over and stop, looking for a perfectly clean space to qualify in. And yes I did see one of those complaining about qualifying pulling over and stopping, looking for open track.

There is no draft in "free run" fyi.

Sorry for the delay, thought I'd wait until I have time to view the replay and get fastest laps up at the same time.

I agree with sticking to 15 mins quali. Main problem I have is poor attendance of D1 meaning a load of randoms can come in during quali meaning I have to leave to kick them. :indiff:

Great pic! :D That's my lap 1 off :( It made me a saaaaad panda

I agree 100%. I waited after I got in so I would miss the opening pack. I actually had so much room I crashed and was still OK.

Maybe add a "Gentleman's Agreement" that we get some time before the 15mins to spread out on the course. Like 1-2min. You would not start the timed lap until the "go" was given by the host 💡

Well if I wasn't held for speeding, that wouldn't have happened!
I looked at the replay last night and we both got dinged for speeding so neither of us gained or lost anything.

I don't recall that pit road glitch happening before, though. The one I referred to days ago was something regarding entering too fast and then getting stuck in the pits if you had the first stall. Maybe it's the way PD tried to fix that problem in Spec 2.0 by resetting the car at pit road entry if going in too fast. I'm not sure if braking before entering avoids the issue because I never tested it. I will check for pit road issues at Twin Cities and report back.
I did let off and got to the inside as far as I could though.
I know you did and I don't blame you one bit. :)

I actually pitted early to avoid that problem altogether. The hope was to run really fast with the cold tires and build up enough of an advantage to clear you. Looks like it actually worked because I'm guessing if you hadn't been at that spot, I would have built up at least a 2 second lead.

Oh well. Onwards to Twin Cities where...well, I still can't break a 35. :grumpy:

Well, here's a happier picture...I think. Don't know who's passing who.

And an extra picture for Turbo. Nice save!:

Actually me and carracer almost had a similar incident. I was just far enough in front coming out of the pits we didn't meet and greet mid turn. :scared:

Or forgetting to set the timer. But their did seem to be quite a handful of guys missing in D1 this week. I think the practice races I did earlier in the week had more of an attendance!

Nepallii wins the war of OMG LOOK AT THAT PACE! this week.

D1-P1 : 44:34.791
D2-P1 : 44:34.915
D3-P1 : 44:25.374

maniac.

edit: btw D3's entire podium was the fastest :p

I believe Adam had a spin during his race so he would have been right up there in terms of pace.

Thanks. Do you have the total times for everyone? I can find a clock calculator and add them up if not.

Yes I saw you come out and though "I'm still not going fast enough!!!!" I think we swapped potions all race.

Meh no sorry. There's always something I don't have lol. I'll get them to you next week.

lol Aderrrm, btw it was me who reminded Aderrrm to set the timer , you need to stop getting drunk before races :sly::p

So that's were I lost time.
I didn't know it was better to drift that corner, :dunce:
R1600Turbo, I need the track for the next race. So I send you a friend invite?
And how do I download the track?

I had a terrible race yesterday. I was doing ok in practice then got randomly booted. couldn't get in but was able to get into quals in time. Race started and I have a black screen with the false start and I waited and waited, and poof the race starts. I was screwed from the get go. I tried to recoup, but the car was not going my way at all. I had better control in Germany then at GVS. In my second lap I went wide in T1 and wrecked and I was no competition for anyone at all. I got lapped by Aderrrm (again for the second race) I believe I did better in letting lapped cars by this time. There were a few areas I didn't know where the leaders were going to go, but then I crashed into the wall which made it easier for the pass. Hope to see you all next week for my HRT style racing :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Add me on PSN and I am currently sharing the track for everyone so they can use it. The track HAS NOT been edited in any sort of way. FYI. I have huge respect for Turbo and his creations, and doing this as a benefit for other racers

I almost thought I was in trouble there. I actually made several mistakes and lost a lot of ground while trying to track you down. Almost gave up.

You can't edit them anyway.

I'm going to try and update the points tonight. Was going to do it just now but I don't know who led laps, so there's no point in doing it until I do know. Will watch D3 replay in a bit. Was Aderrm the only leader in D1?

I led for a few laps too, Aderm mostly tho.

Just ran a 2:35.5 at Twin Cities which, like the municipal dump situated next to the track, stinks.

Okay, this is what I have so far:

(Sorry on the bad quality but I'm not sure how else I could be a picture of the track)

T1 - Braking point is no later than the start of the painted guardrails to the right. There's not a lot of grip up top so hug the inside line and keep the car above 70 mph.

T2 & T3 - Let the car drift a little wide at T2 and then let off the throttle to cut in for T3. The key is to have a good angle for a clean exit. Too wide and the car will not turn properly. Too narrow and you'll end up going wide on exit. I suggest leaving it on 3rd until clearing the corner.

T4 - WOT. Stay left for the next corner.

T5 - A blind apex corner. Turn-in is around the area between the lights hanging to the left and the start of the rumble strips to the left. The car often understeers and you'll completely miss the apex; however, you can hit the throttle and the rears will spin enough to help you clear the corner without going wide.

T6 - WOT. However, this corner must be taken with very high precision. Slack steering will send you wide and you'll slam the wall on exit. Mess up the line and you'll slam the wall on exit. If you touch the grass at the apex, you'll slam the wall on exit. If you're following someone in the draft, I suggest breathing the throttle for an instant or the car will push and you'll slam the wall on exit.

T7 - WOT. It's not as bad as T6 but be aggressive with the steering to avoid any exit understeer.

T8 - I've seen people go in aggressively into the corner. I do the opposite by braking starting at the black lines on the track and keep braking to get the car to hug the inside of this corner all the way, through. Do not let the car go wide or you'll regret it in the next corner.

T9 - A good T8 means you're set for T9 at WOT or if you want to be careful, go 90% throttle to avoid going wide or in some cases, the rear gets light. If you messed up T8, I suggest keeping the throttle around 80-90% to get the car to a manageable line.

T10 - Another blind apex corner. It's WOT if hit correctly but similar issues occur like with T6. Missing the entry will make the car go wide but this time, you'll be eating grass or otherwise lifting to avoid eating said grass.

T11 & 12 - I'm getting destroyed here. Hugging the left at T11 seems to be the best approach. However, unlike others, I can't hold 4th here. The car just pushes so badly, I'm forced to use 3rd and I scrub off too much speed. I can't seem to hold anything over 80 mph without going wide on exit. I did 83 a few times but I had to tip-toe the car in.

T13 - WOT. Car's speed should be around 100 mph.

T14 - Still experimenting. I've tried both braking early and braking late and neither provides consistency.

T15 - For now, I'm letting the car coast off throttle and aim the car a little wide for T16.

T16 - Just about everyone's using the outside line all the way. I'm the only one that seems to cut into the inside. I brake a little and then slam the car into 2nd and nail the throttle while aiming for the rumble strips to the right. It's probably not as fast but I'm finding that the issue of going wide on the exit is all but resolved.

I intended for these two corners together to be one big double apex corner. I usually go in hard on the bottom of 15 and let the car slide out to the outer rumble strips in the middle of the corner, while slowing it down enough to aim for the strips on the inside of 16.

I led for a few laps too, Aderm mostly tho.

Lots of leaders iirc.

Aderrm and Josh swapped the lead a few times - Wii led across the line on start of Lap 10, Me on Lap 11, Paul on Lap 12, 666Z06 on Lap 13 - at least! I think that's everyone though.

This corner will kill someones race, mark my words (probably mine).
I did a test there and that was the dome corner. I found staying wide and cutting in reduced the chance.

Good tips, now all I need is the track.

I wish I can go hard into 15 but I get such bad understeer, I end up losing a lot of time that way. Instead, I'm barely using any brake here, slowing the car down with simply steering inputs and a downshift.

I have it and it's set to online status.

On a side note, just ran a 2:35.3 and that's with me hitting T11-12 correctly the car deciding to grip at T11-12. This corner is :yuck:!
