Kills me that Forza 4 will not have weather or night time racing. I guess if I need that fix I will have to put GT5 in. They really really need to get weather and night time racing into F5.

Lack of Autovista cars is a bit weak too. Just as I suspected, its only 5% of the game. So basically 5% of the game will have "Super premium" cars. More Autovista cars will come with DLC but so will more cars for the game. Which means the Autovista count will still remain at 5% of the cars in the game.

Everything else is looking good but not having weather and night racing really is a disappointment.

It's odd you say that.
I remember your standard/premium debate with auto vista.

If it's not done to all it's a divide.

Do you think T10 would have done all tracks with weather and night racing?

If T10 had only done a few would that mean premium/standard tracks too?

I am not seeing Autovista as Super Premium, because you can't drive the cars in "Super Premium" view or quality.

But it's still there. There's still a drop off of "why didnt my fav car get picked for Autovista"
It might not be as obvious as Standard/Premium but it's still there.
But you cannot please everyone.

Just like I am sure people will complain that you can't open up the compartment for the spare tire, or you can't view the car with or without tire wet on the tires, or that the wipers don't work, or that you can move the power seats forward and back, or that you can't crank up the stereo to FM 101.5 Classic WIBA, or what have you.

Nobody is ever pleased.

lmao, if I ever heard someone complain about that it would make my day.

I can't complain though, they have added my SC300 and my 240SX.

FM has not made me dissapoint.

What Forza features is consistency.
Oh and Leaderboards, car clubs, customisation for all cars. Cockpit views for all cars. Better Damage modelling, quicker UI. Ability to save tuning setups, auction house, telemetry. Stuff that I like and will enjoy again.

It's testament to PD employees skill that their engine can output not just night racing and weather but also dynamically as well.

Their modellers are Gods. And just look at GT's lighting. And all this at 1280x1080p with 2AA.

Yep. An unsteady framerate, and jagged to hell edges and other graphical anomalies here and there.

Hella awesome. 👍

GT made the weather, night and smoke, but did exactly what Turn 10 didn't want to do, have them turn out glitchy and poor performance. With the 360 and PS3 being pretty much equal in power, I think it comes down to GT5 sacrificing (like FM does). GT sacrifices not having 4000 layers x 16 cars (livery), GT sacrifices some physics calculations (IMO), and of course we get blocky rain, blocky smoke, no headlights in standard cars, and lower detailed tracks.

It's a give and take for both games.

sacrifices some physics calculations? lol what have you got access to polyphony's code or something? standard cars are just a red herring. lower detailed tracks? the ring which is the best track for dynamic weather and night is the most detailed track in the whole game. what sacrifice did PD make there? blocky rain and smoke? still looks awesome.

the fact is if you think the ps3 and xbox are equal in power then the only logical thing here is that PD staff are just the better game coders. They don't need to downgrade their cars or reduce car count or lower the resolution.

Yet, that's exactly what they did. Do you think before you write?

framerate is only unsteady when you have 16 cars bunched up together at rain.

perhaps you need to read up on digital foundry's writeup on GT5. You might learn something about technology

Please consider that in Forza now there are actually 31 cars rendered at once as the reflections on the hood show everything. Actually, that as well goes to environment.
GT 5 doesn't even have a good cubic map - the reflections are just horrible and just as blocky as the smoke.

standard cars are just a red herring.
Because 80% of the car count are badly modeled last generation low poly un-interactive low detailed is only a minor problem.

The rest of the tracks in the game being low modeled.

Except that's exactly what they did. 💡

Really? I recall a test being done where it showed during a time trial on Suzuka in the middle of the day where the Framerate was inferior. In fact it was posted here not a couple weeks ago.

That attitude towards members isn't going to get you anywhere. It's just going to make you come off as even more of a troll.

And please, capitalize all beginnings of sentences and use proper grammar and spelling. It's very hard to understand you.

Crispychicken49

If you truly want to comment on grammar, at least have good grammar yourself.

A sentence should never start with 'and'

Not true at all.

So long as their used sparingly, conjunctions are just fine.

They just skip on details that they don't expect you to look closely at. 👍

And lets not start on the framerate and tearing issues.

Better not fuel the fire.

Oops.

...Is that a wrist going through another wrist, with a transparent arm? I...I don't...I don't even know how to look at that.

I don't think we should stoop that low, I've seen worse spectator models on Forza.
I don't play racing games to look at spectators.

Do you?

Every racing game has bad spectators, it is just a law. And I prefer having better car/track models than spectators. Funny as hell but Richard Burns Rally has better spectators models than both GT and FM.
Probably the best spectators are in Dirt 2 on PC with DX 11 because they are tesselated... but that doesn't make them look much better.:indiff:

Worse? Or just as bad? Cause if it's worse, I have to see it :scared:
I know that spectator models and car models don't even have a mutual friend as far as graphic fidelity goes in Forza, but that is simply atrocious.

(And some of the standard cars aren't much better )

I've seen them with cameras that were blocks and the lens was just a black cone coming out.
I'll fire up the 360 to try to take some pics.

Also, why are old people watching the Races?

I do agree with you about this nitpicking Gt can look awesome in the right conditions. But also can look terrible in most conditions. percentage of premium and standard cars and Tracks.

Surely the last few posts are a sign this thread has run it's course :D

I would say just the opposite. The last few posts is exactly why this thread is here.
