Until GT5 comes out, 'wish' threads, 'ideas/suggestions' threads, expectations etc. and the occasional bit of actual news are as much as we can hope for. Stopping all of these types of thread would kill the activity of the forum, and while some threads are more useful than others, there is still room for a few less 'serious' threads from time to time. Indeed, the presence of well-established and well-organised wishlist threads actually help to keep the forums tidier IMO. However, in the last week, we have closed 15 threads in this subforum alone, and moved several others to more appropriate forums. This subforum is also the busiest on the site, which ensures that if a thread is idle for longer than 24-36 hours, it will drop off the front page.
When the game comes out, I'd expect that this subforum will change dramatically, and will be alot more focused on actual content (FAQ's, databases etc.) and discussions/comparisons/criticism etc. of actual gameplay and features etc. But until any of us have actually played GT5, we are limited to discussions of what might be in the game, what we would like to see, and what we hope GT5 will be like etc.
, demos and betas are all about the community offering suggestions for improvement, it's how the industry moves forward. If all you want is the latest news on GT5, you can find that on most game sites, you don't need to be here. Gtplanet is the main source of info and discussion about the gt series, so to say that the forum needs a cleanup and that threads are pointless is stupid, this site should entail all kinds of discussions and topics relating to GT. Don't get me wrong some threads like the tree thread are un-needed or at least don't deserve a thread of there own, but that thread like many similar ones normally get negative feedback from GTP members anyway. Threads like my graphical improvement thread you consider pointless does not fit into the same category, i have yet to see one comment in that thread stating it was pointless, that thread had a lot of positive and contributive comments.
