I rarely make new threads but the issue with uncommunicative FFB after 2.04 patch seems to surface time to time on threads.

Personally I noticed dramatic decrease of information comming from tires especially on curbs and uneven surfaced tarmac. Ingame FFB setting seems to just mostly add center spring and critical effects stay the same. Common understanding is that PD made this to reduce wheel shaking in straights but I would want that shaking and road detail back.

So vote what tell your thoughts about it to get better idea what community feels about it in general.

A lot of things went wrong in this game after 2.03

On some cars the FFB feels really numb but on some I don't notice a difference. Thing is, that before the patch none of the cars felt numb, so I'd like PD to revert back to the old FFB.

i agree, ffb was better before 2.04

The patch included reducing the ffb on cars like the x2010s and the formula gt's but as for other cars idk much about them. I didn't get my ffb dfgt until about 2.04 came out lol

CSR user so my opinion my be different from others but I think the FF on my wheel is perfect. And now that I use the engine rumble feature on the CSR GT5 feels truly alive. We just need tire physics.

If anything i think it's gotten better, i always struggled drifting with my wheel prior to 2.04 (Fanatec GT3rs here) Tho some wheels with less adjustability may suffer. I don't really notice a dramatic change..

I have a G27 and the feeling with that wheel cannot be compared to the CSR. Fanatec has some good damn wheels. My only grip with the CSR is the Rim is little. It feels kinda cheap but the effect of the wheel make up for it.

Not horrible now, was better before though for sure. -G25

My G27 is has very weak FFB. I've put it up to 10 (simulation) in GT5 yet it still ain't strong enough. The strange thing is is that when I'm in the PS home screen the wheel provides plenty of resistance when it is being turned. :dunce:

Force Feedback settings need to be in the Tuning Screen for each car. That way we could adjust it much more quickly and have a totally different 'feel' for every beautiful peice of metal in our garage. Imagine how much more immersive the experience would be- small, lightweight cars with power steering could be given a low setting, while big, heavy monsters like an old muscle car with no power steering could be set to maximum strength... and everything in between. Magnificent.

I, personally, wouldn't mind setting all of the rally cars to 1 or 0 (unfortunately) in order to eliminate the ridiculous rumbling felt when driving on gravel/dirt surfaces. I understand what they were trying to do, but the execution was poor and is most definitely wearing out peoples steering wheels. I pretty much stay away from my favorite kind of auto racing in gt5 because of this issue.

Having to pull all the way back to the Main Settings Menu just to change the FFB settings is a bit frustrating, especially when it just doesn't need to be this way..

I bought my G27 after 2.04 was released so I can not vote. What exactly do you think has changed from pre-2.04?

Like TankAss said ffb feels very weak, but I thought its just me. I started on 5 and when I got the feeling of resistance becoming weaker I went up 6...7... now on 8. First runs on training mode felt better but now I´m back on the feeling of low ffb. I thought that I´m simply getting used to the ffb, but thinking about it now, it can´t be right!?!???

I´m confused! lol

Ok but what I was trying to say is that ffb decrease slowly after beeing set up higher

^ well you did ask him what exactly he thinks has changed... Or were you asking that Q to someone else? I, also, have noticed my FFB decreasing slowly over time- but it's very subtle and is probably a perfect combination of those secondary muscles in my arms gaining strength and the motors in my G25 wearing out a slight bit... Hard to be sure.

I think Raitziger's complaint is well-worded. Less information coming from the tires is not good. Is there any possible way for someone to compare 1.0 vs 2.0 vs 2.04 ?

Oh, if he was answering my first question (What exactly do you think has changed from pre-2.04?) then I might have misunderstood his answer, thanks researchALLwars... and sorry Raitziger.

So your actually saying what I said by "getting used to the ffb"... but motor wearing out? My G27 is only about 2 or 3 month old!

Damn. Read the poll wrong. I meant YES. Certainly more numb, can't get the same feel from the front. I thought it was my new wheel (CSR-E), but I've used that on GTR2 and it's outta this world, so certainly the game.

Polygon, stop dumbing the game down. The people that care, FFB matters. To the people that don't, they won't notice. Make the game better, not worse, for the people that will appreciate it, and notice the difference.

I've noticed on my T500RS the feel of the wheel seems to be numbed in comparison to before, especially in race cars, where I really had to fight to keep it in line, but now I can drive fast one-handed.

I voted no, because it simply Wasn't ruined. However, I can assure you many cars have lost the touch they once had, either it's very numb, or lifeless. Needs to be fixed..

Raitziger- can you change the title of the Thread? The wording gets confusing compared to the title of the Poll. Casting the wrong vote almost happened to me, as well..

My eyes immediately see the word "better" and I almost clicked "No". Apparently I'm not alone!

The Poll doesnt actually ask if it was ruined. It asks if it was better before. "Numb, lifeless, and needs to be fixed"? Sounds like you misread the poll title as well. Raitziger! Help us out! Your valuable poll is being contorted by misunderstanding.

Sorry, seems like I can not edit poll anymore. Maybe mods could fix it? Title is now changed. My brain work differently, maybe because I am not native speaker :)

At first I thought you guys were out of your mind, I voted no. After playing a little GT5, it became pretty obvious. I want to change that vote. \

Now when I play GT5 it's all I can think about. It's really bothering me now. I don't know if it's as bad as it seems to me, I've been playing a lot of PC sims, especially iracing which allows for stronger FFB although not as polished or good as GT5. Now the FFB seems too weak. I'm definitley noticing a difference in the rumble strips. At first I thought it might be the car I was driving, but it's more than that. They hardly rumble at all now.

This isn't good. We are going off memory but I'm positive they made it weaker and that's not cool at all. If anything they should've allowed you to make it stronger than it is just like in any pc sim or even Grid, Dirt, or Ferrari Challenge. I'm really disappointed. They friggin got rid of that dynamic chase cam right away that a lot of people liked, but they haven't fixed this?

Sure, getting that rumbling from driving the F10 was annoying, and they've made it more driveable but they've also made every other car in the game feel worse. WE need more people to realise this and speak up so that they can fix it. Does anyone go on twitter? Please somebody talk to Kaz, this nees to be fixed.

I think so. If you were to delete your game data, and load up GT5 while not signed in, you should be able play the game how it was before all the updates. Only thing is you're going to have to wait a while to install the GT5 game data and then a while to reinstall all the updates. I think you would lose your pics and stuff too.

The purpose of the update was to fix the stupid rumbling you got with the F10 right? Well I think that has to do with spring effect (not center spring). I've noticed on some PC games, when cars have that stupid constant rumbling reducing or cutting spring effect out completely gets rid of it. I'm not sure if that's what they did but that would explain why the FFB feels weaker, less resistance, and kind of numb

Also previously when you adjusted ingame FFB setting, all effects would go stronger. Now it only adds "centre spring" :(

Yes I have a theory on this.

It's where developers are really struggling to free up some memory for other visual, sound improvements.

Basically reduce the FF detail. This won't be noticed by 99% of users as they are in pad.

Theory is based on other titles which gave done exactly the same. F1, shift 2 have all had patched for bug fixes and minor improvements.
Force feedback was cut there too. Even though the fans hadn't complained about them.

Why else would developers dumb down the FF when the community hasn't asked?

I may be totally off the ball but GT isn't the first to experience this.

I'm running faster than ever for my laps, so I'd like it to stay as it is, please.:)

I think the FF ''engine'' or program runs at a certain rate, probably the same as the physics engine, like 100 hz or ''FPS'' (same difference).

I don't think they saved any CPU cycles, just tried to fix a problem, and in doing so, smoothed out the effects a little. I bet they could put it back to exactly pre 2.04 with zero performance change. We may never know either way though.

I remember in GT4 when I first got my wheel. I drove the F1 car in a race on the oval track. I was shocked at how powerful the feedback was, and I struggled to keep the car on the road. Yet, it felt awesome :) Go back to that strength PD, it was really cool.

Yeah but GT4 FF is horrible compared to GT5's FF.
