Yeah but GT4 FF is horrible compared to GT5's FF.

Disagree. It's not horrible, if anything more realistic when going in a straight line. Let go of the wheel in GT5, and it will whip aggressively side to side. Let go of the wheel in GT4 and this doesn't happen as badly, sometimes it doesn't happen at all. In all other cases, then GT5's FF is better.

This does not happen with my CSR @ BWX When you get your Fanatec you will not be disappointed!

Amen. 👍

Yeah I can't wait for the CSR wheel and CSR Elite pedals (and shifters) to get here! Also upgrading my Sim-Seat SR-2 (single post) to an SR-X (dual post) with tilt! Spent a crap-ton 'o money last week!

Damn just got done racing on trial mountain and I can feel the uneven pavement all through the wheel. With the wheel vibration GT5 is truly alive BWX make sure you run ABS off on the Fanatec when you get your wheel you will get engine rumble effect.

Edit I knew the FF felt different feels like GTA to me a little very tight I like it.

I always run ABS off.. except on a time trial (and snow). So yeah I want full FF effects.. and I bet that load cell rocks.

2.06 patch :"Force feedback for the “Driving Force GT”, “GT FORCE Pro”, “G25 Racing Wheel”, ” G27 Racing Wheel”, and ” T500 RS” steering wheel controllers have been improved."

Has anybody tested this yet?

^^^Yes It feels like GTA much tighter and you can feel the road a lot more. I wrote that before the initial report  the edit part was once they said it.

I meant on the wheel turn off ABS to activate engine rumble. I know you drive with ABS off ;)

Oh yeah, on the wheel. I'll definitely do that. In GT5 that ABS vibration function doesn't work anyway does it?

I mean I know it'll vibrate when you brake (fake ABS vibration from the wheel software), but in a PC sim, doesn't it actually vibrate when the ABS is activated in the sim?

Yes it does work they both feel great! I don't know if it's as good as when playing with a PC though.

2.06 patch did nothing to fix weak rumble effect on curbs on turbo S wheel. Some times it is ok when going straight over curb but mostly I just hear the rumble sound from speakers but feel nothing at wheel. Wheel seems to feel more spongy at center. I raised ingame FFB setting to 9 from 7 but did not notice any change. Something might be wrong with my wheel but everything was fine before 2.04 patch.

Read the news feed. They fixed every wheel except the Fanatecs. I'm assuming because they aren't officially supported for PS3 or GT5.

PS3 sees them as G25.

I have a Fanatec dude and the feedback is is a lot better.

G27 here and the feedback feels much better. Just going down the first straight at La Sarthe and you can feel every bump on the road through the wheel. I had to really concentrate just to keep the Murcielago in a straight line. Like JDMKing said, it's much tighter and the dead zone seems to have been reduced. And the feel of curbs is back. Much better IMO.

I find less knocking when going over kerbs. Driving/skidding out on the grass seems smoother now, you feel tugs and pulls rather than knocking. I also notice more tightness in the wheel, I use FFB 7 before and after the update. This is from my G27.

Yup Fanatecs are seen as a G25. I wouldn't have bought one otherwise. I just hope Fanatecs still work for the PS4 if I don't die of old age first, that is... I'm 39, soon to be 40.

Same, i have noticed MUCH better FFB after 2.06, which is awesome!

Just got email saying CSR wheel/Elite pedals ships this week! Cannot wait to try it with the 2.06 Force Feedback as G25 even feels great with this update! The smoothness is gonna be sick.

Try turning the FFB down not up,i have noticed with mine(911 turbo s)that turning it down gives feedback from bumps and kerbs while turning the wheel, but turning it up gives unrealistic weight to the wheel and drowns out the FFB while steering.
The fanatecs are a fairly high quality wheel, having good strength in the motors.
My settings are:
In-game FFB:1
Powersteer : Off
Steering. : Simulation

On wheel
Sens: Off
Ffb : 100
DRi. : 2 or 3(try both,see what you prefer)
Sho. : 10
Abs : Off
Lin. : 000
Dea : 000
Spr : -3
Dpr : 3

You will get the wobble at centre if you let go of the wheel, but the feedback from the road and the cars is amazing and the most realistic settins i have found in my pursuit of perfection.

Thanks for tip, I will try it right away!

WOW I found amazing settings for me!
Sens: Off
Ffb : 100
DRi. : 3
Sho. : 100
Abs : Off
Lin. : 000
Dea : 000
Spr : -3
Dpr : -3

Those last two where the keys to amazing FFB. And I can even crank up the ingame FFB to 7-10 and road detail is amazing!! I just had Spr and Dpr in wrong settings for me.

However I still think that they have modeled curbs wrong. There should be a violent FFB hit when going over high curbs for example in Autumn Ring. There is no real risk now in GT5 to loose control in curbs because FFB is nonexistent in this case. I think they now model forces affecting tire horizontal axis well but I would like to feel also hard hits that only affect vertical axis of the tire.

Yeah i agree about kerbs not being modeled spot on,and im glad you found some settings that you really like 👍

I don't know though.. if a car's suspension is set up correctly, there shouldn't be a big rotational force on the wheel though, when hitting a curb.. I'd think you'd feel a vibration and a jolt in the whole car, but I don't think GT5 is even trying to add those effects through the wheel, just the real feedback you'd get in a wheel. I think those jolts and vibrations would be better left to a butt-kicker or a motion rig (if even possible in GT)..

I think it's just a different philosophy then for example, rFactor, where fake feedback and vibrations are sent through the wheel as vibrations when you hit curbs or for when the engine revs. GT5 is more like the "Real Feel" plug in program for rF that gets rid of all the canned and fake effects.

Nice analysis BWX. They should at least be consistent with kerb FFB. Many times there is good bass sound "burrrr" when driving over wavy kerbs but that does not transmit through wheel. In real car you can feel it in wheel just like you can feel now road detail now in GT5.
I noticed that they model correctly the bass effect when tire is actually on striped wavy kerb but FFB is low to my liking.

I was thinking about it, and maybe GT5 FF is only reproducing forces caused by the friction of the tire on the road or suspension geometry pulling the steering wheel left or right.

But let's say I hit the front wheel of a car with a big sledge hammer.. hitting it at the front so that would cause a left or right rotational force in the steering wheel, but it would be very short, and almost feel like a vibration..
Since that force isn't caused by suspension geometry reacting with tire friction or the weight of the car trying to center the steering wheel because of caster angles, GT5 doesn't seem to reproduce those kinds of forces.. Maybe it should- and hitting a curb would tug the steering wheel a little more.

Maybe the simulation just doesn't go that far, meaning certain types of basic forces that would affect the steering wheel or FF aren't even modelled into the simulation at all, therefore we don't feel them.. I think that is very possible. So yeah maybe it isn't that the FF when hitting a curb is ''wrong'', but maybe it just doesn't exist at all.

What I have notice the stiffer the suspension the more feedback I get from the zebras.
