Forcing Resolutions And Refresh Rates on Monitors

Hey guys, I was wondering if it would be safe to force my monitor that is capable of 1792 by 1344 at 61 hz to 1792 by 1344 AT 240 hz. Will it catch on fire?

No, especially with an LCD. It just won't work. May cause damage if it's a CRT, but even that's unlikely.

I already forced my crt to 240 using the nvidia control panel. I could feel the difference because my mouse pointer was a lot more responsive than at 61 h.
