Ford Focus ST Seasonal Challenge Rigged???

Actually, I thought it was the opposite. I was under the impression that for an FF car, you want the front to be "softer" to have better grip/traction and the back to be "stiffer" to induce oversteer.

An FR car with a stiff back-end... wouldn't that be very oversteery?
But, hey whatever works for you...

Looks like I'll need to do some more Apex reading!

Sorry! I meant FF, not FR..my heads all over the place with all these different cars!

your right mate , stiff arse end on a FF :)

Ford Focus ST race is rigged and never can be beaten. I'm hoping they'll look into it again because it's impossible to win it.
Yet another noobie creates a new thread with loads of info elsewhere. Search, set your car up, learn the circuit and take the lead on the 4th lap.. yes really... and I am not the only one. Granted I used Skid recovery.

Question and Comment:

Question: Has anybody noticed how terrible the steering is in the Focus? at least on the controller

Comment: Very hard race, but is possible. I believe it is much, much more challenging than any other race I have played in the game

Whew, finally did it, used my old Prologue ST settings, they are visible through the search bar, some things are different, but using SRF on, will make you able to win :)

I think this is a very challenging race, but definitely do-able. It appears to be a real test of not only your driving skills and track familiarity, but also your ability to set the car up to your advantage.

I haven't tried JD's setup yet, but it appears that he has the rear quite soft. Won't that induce more understeer? Just curious. I'll have to try it out tomorrow.

From what I've noticed with this setup the rear is more loose. It is a big improvement over the stock setup because the Focus RS suffers a lot with understeer.

I won by about 5 secs on my 3rd attempt. I had upgraded everything non-power/ weight related though.

The setup posted by JD is awful. Just tried it and the car has more understeer than stock
Could somebody post their winning setup. Im at my whits end with this race.

PS. Dont tell me I am a bad driver. I am good driver in the game

Did it this afternoon, quite hard, but it is do-able. :)

Played with Dual Shock 3, skid recovery on, ABS 1, Automatic Transmission, all other assists off.

Car: Ford Focus ST '06 with sports intake manifold. No other mods / tunes applied.

So just careful driving and getting to the front fast and cleanly. :)

I just won on 2nd try. I was 1sec ahead of the RS by End of 4th round. I didnt use any specific tune. Just did sport coils and drivetrain. My tipp is to brake into the corners.

Did they add these today? I spotted this thread when I opened the forum a minute ago and was completely baffled, so I've just started up the PS3 and been greeted with more seasonal challenges!!

I've even been playing today and hadn't noticed.

But we can all agree that on normal situations and aids (skid recovery force turned off) it is impossible to win. Correct? So far from what I'm reading everyone is using that SRF aid just to cheat the win. Is the Ford Focus ST really this crappy in real life to have to resort on a game aid that doesn't exist in real life?

I did not use SRF on my youtube link. Only ABS 1

Don't know how you're driving like that without SRF, but for me while braking that hard my wheels always lock up and I get lots of understeer, also when your tyres go red. Seems like SFR turned on to me, but I could be wrong.

I'm really not sure how anyone can do this without SRF. I've tried many tunes already and even with SFR on it's still pretty hard to win. Without SFR my best is 15 seconds behind the Focus RS.

You have to brake late but you must let go of the brakes when you start turning or you understeer off the track. If you still doubt it I'll upload the replay file lol

I won without SRF and no aids, G25 here though.

Won it the 5th time, so it's not like it needed to be grinded for a few hours.

The driving isn't perfect still, I know there will be people who can do 4 consecutive low 1:42s, I could if I didn't make any mistakes.

Yeah nvm what I said, just tried another tune and it seems to handle close to yours now. Still not enough to beat that Focus RS though. :(

You tuned yours as well I assume? If so, what settings did you use, if you want to share?

I just tried the RX7 one, hardest thing ever in my life(I came 7th with a tuned RX7). I think to be best at GT5 you have to play a lot, a very LOT. Sometimes I'm so excited and nervous my hands are shaking so much I am trying to win.

lol tried the rx7 had to drive it like I stole it. but managed to get it after 1 full try and 3 half tries caught the skyline on the hairpin before the long straight

also managed to get the focus one

those two are the hardest races i have ever done.

now I'm pissed for being 0,007 of a second off on one license test :@

+1

Haha, its about time the kids learnt how to race without using the fastest cars in the game!

Im enjoying the challenge, infact I wish they disabled the skid recovery for these events :)

not related to the thread but i hate that attitude, you think that the younger people will just max out the cars and bash their way to the front, me and my freind are both 16, we don't just overpower cars and we don't bash to the front. infact we both have a minimum of 3 years of actual racing experience in 1000cc mini's, me just missing a top 3 in the championship and him a two times champion, so don't prejudge people on their age:tup:
oh yes and we both use ds3 because we spend our money on real cars

If I get it right only peoples with skid recovery on were able to win? this is the most cheated assist in the game and I need to use it to win the race? how dumb is that...

just to see the difference I played first with DS3 and came up 3rd then with DFGT and won by 5 sec with the same settings on the car :)

I just won won the Focus RS 06 race with these settings:

SRC - On
ABS - 2
Aerodynamics - Rear 10
Exhaust - Catalytic Converter: Sport
Transmission - Fully Custom Max Speed 124
Drivetrain - Clutch: Twin plate, Flywheel: Semi Racing, Fully Custom LSD 14-45-25
Suspension - Fully Custom: Ride height - Front -10 back 5, Spring Rate - Front 12.5 Back 6.7, Dampers (Ext)- Front 7 back 3, Dampers (Comp) - Front 3 back 4, Anti Roll - Front 5 back 5, Camber Angle - Front 1.5 back 0, Toe Angle - Front 0 back 0.5

I hope these help some of you who are finding this hard. Seeing how I have only owned a PS3 & GT5 for 8 days and I can do this im sure its not as hard as it seems :D

i tried this using my normal settings all aids off bar abs at 1.

came second 12 seconds behind 1st but 12 seconds ahead of 3rd.

then tried it with srf on and won by nearly 10 seconds so i by turning that aid on i gained over 4 seconds a lap.

i think srf should be taken out of the game because i dont know of any cars that can increase your tyres grip when they loose grip. its a joke of an aid. i dont mind abs and tc and things like that because they only compensate for poorer driving but they dont give you a massive advantage.

id rather they take out srf, give me better tyres and make the ai harder not just by giving them a massive gap.

nah, read couple posts up.
