Iv'e recently been playing through Prologue again, but this time using cars I'm not comfortable with (just to kind of prolong the game). The Ford GT LM Spec II is at the top of the list of cars that I don't like to drive.

So I was wondering, does it handle realistically ? Or am I just a horrible driver:sly:? I can drive the F2007 no problem, but when it comes to the Ford:scared:. Iv'e driven some cars (not many) that appear in Prologue IRL and I can almost say they are spot on(only thing missing is sense of speed). So as anyone driven something similar to an LM spec car? I know it's a reach asking, but even a race spec car will do, I'm just keen to know if race cars are that hard to drive?

Personally, I'd say that's it's one of the better cars in this game and that it actually does have some handling. I think the key with it is it's speed, not really it's handling, though.

Hmm never driven one. It's Mid engine car, Heavy on the back as well heavy on Down force on the back.. So I bet it will slide a lot. I bet real life race cars desire demanding driving techniques.. For me, LM is hard to drive, and seems only certain percentage of GT players manage to get TOP LAP times with this beast. In real life racing, same thing is happening, but It's hard to compare really...

I know there are some GTPlanetires that had their share on track wtih powerful beasts.. I hope they could compare this particular car.

Only thing is missing is G-Force effects acting on your body.

It would be my opinion that the Ford GT LM is the best handling super car in the game. I think its the easiest to drive. Anytime I use it in the game, I am at the top of the field with it.

My opinion!

It is easy to drive if you do not push it. And always be gentle with throttle. But I am more use to slower RWD cars and always try to push them. This LM car, push it you die!

Yea its speed does not match up with its handling and braking. You just have to take things really slow - or so it feels. Then you beat everyone. But it's not fun. I like driving on edge, but not like that.

The regular Ford GT in GT4 was really bad like that also.

I bet a pimped GT would be alot better in real life, you would really be driving a pimped GT!!!!! i never drove a real race car, but from what ive seen on TV its pretty hard. also, F2007 is easiest car to drive in pro physics, but insanely hard to be perfect and consistent.

its quite simple actually. do all your braking before the corner and throttle/throttle-control through the corner. DONT! YOU! EVER! get up off the throttle mid corner.

Cough, only 3rd in EYS race 4.

You have no idea how right you are.. Good day sir. 👍

Well, no one can beat Holl01.. and well you, yeah you swooped in there..I had a 1'42 run in me, but I never put it together.

Right you are though! But 3rd is near the top!

Just as the old GT40.. I do believe I wrote a race report a million years ago when I just joined..

Neutral throttle when turning and brakes off..

switch off all aids, except abs 1.. if the rear starts to slip, you can stabilise it with modulating the throttle, quite fast and you get it back .. :)

For me it's a car that needs patience to drive properly,i find it's quicker than the amuse over a lap but i am more consistent with the amuse so i am quicker overall with it.
Some road test i have looked at they say the same thing with the standerd Ford GT that drama-kyd said so i think it would be very close to how it would be in real life even with down force,it's a powerful car that you need to respect.

I don't think the LM is a real car. I've never seen a picture of it except as a scale model.

PD's GT LM can't be far from this, I can not comment on how it handles campared to the real car having never driven it, but it's characteristics match that of Mid engine RWD cars, its like an over weight lotus elise so its weight transfers will be more extreme, match that with the high torque motor and its goin to be fun in the slower corners with little downforce, the lift of oversteer can be sorted though with various tunes from the tuner section.

The Ford GT handles better, and the LM II is essentially a LeMans prototype. I cranked the power all the way down, gave it full downforce and it still had grip problems, even with soft racing tires. I think it's coded poorly, perhaps on purpose. A relative gave me a tuning setup which makes it handle more like you'd expect a race car to feel.

Thanks for the picture! I've seen in it the American Lemans series. A tuned FGT.

I wish PD gives us a car like the on in the picture. It looks so slick and sexi!

As well, if you have troubles controlling the car during corners, just shift up one gear. Lets say this turn is good with Gear 2, go to gear 3, it will be way easier to control, sure you wont be number one with fastest lap, but you will go to the top because of smoothness. It's really good idea for doing races. It only works for mid to high powered cars with high troque.. (or is it high HP, hmm I am always confused about the two).

I skipped most of the thread, so forgive repetition.

Race cars are pretty easy to handle until they get close to the limit, they have massive grip and composure, but when the reach the limit, they break violently, where as a street car has lower limits but can be pushed harder.

The GT LM is one of the easiest cars to drive in the game, just give it a lot of rear downforce because it's mid engined.

Are you using pad or wheel?

Cause driving with controller in Prologue is enormous pain, steering wheel makes it much easier

I agree, in Prologue I can barely pass the turn faster than cheap Mustang with Ford GT, which is quite strange.

In Forza 2 Ford GT is razor blade driving super car, that what you expect from 150.000$ sport car. Viper SRT also handles like crap in Prologue, there is no way such lousy car can make Nurburgring in 7:15, it drives more like 70-th muscle cars

Though that was my impressions with dualshock. Yesterday I've got Driving Force GT and started the game from beginning.

I don't really find the car that realistic, trying to tune the brakes is way off. (Well for me)
I have to put more brake balance on the front than the back so I can create oversteer.

Create oversteer? I believe lifting off the throttle will already create oversteer in this car....

Yeah, tell me about it. This car has nothing but oversteer when I drive it.

Let me be the first to tell you that driving in Forza is nothing like for GT5P, I wouldnt even compare it.

Seriously?

Most of cars drives more or less similar in both Prologue and Forza, which is a great achievement consider what the bull**** was instead physics in GT4.

But I guess you can't make everything perfect making simulator for the first time, that's why GT5 Prologue has holes here and there.

Actually the Viper is a very hard to handle car.
The special version that made that record on the Nürburgring was extremely tuned (forgot the tuner). I would like to prove you that with a video where Tim Schrick tested a normal Viper at Oschersleben, but its German so i doubt you would understand it (or can you speak German?).

The Viper is generally considered easy to drive and control. It's built for cornering and has pretty much always done it well. What throws a lot of of people off is the lack of traction and stability control in other cars.

It does have its problems though, namely being sensitive to twitchy driver input, braking stability, and shifting (and understeer for the 2006 coupe).

G.T. Ace, are you talking about the DMotor comparo with the Viper, GT500, and Challenger? It's translated on youtube. I also think he might have been exaggerating a bit with the onboard commentary to be honest, but I can't say for sure.
