The radiators are "like sharks". If the car isn't moving, the radiator "can't breathe or something"

Ah, Damon. :)
He was World Champ for a reason.

I think this will definitely be a McLaren weekend. Hamilton and Alonso are on it, Ferrari have already lost Massa and Raikkonen is being beat by a BMW

Oh man, Alonso just purportedly blocked Hamilton.

Bahaha!

I wonder what's gonna happen here.
There seems to be a huge divide between the Ham and Alo camps.

Haha, Ron Dennis seems to be spitting fire. Alonso held up Hamilton by about 6 seconds, and Hamilton missed the flag by 4 seconds.

*Popcorn.*

hehe Dennis is livid.

There's only one way to sort this

FIGHT!!!!!
[/Harry Hill]

That move definitely won't have helped the team within, they're having enough trouble as it is right now they could've done without that. Guess it shows Alonso actually is that desperate to stay ahead of Hamilton that he'd pull something like that instead of sort it on the track on race day

Oh, bad move Alonso, bad move. My opinion of him has dropped like a stone:tdown:

I'm hoping his final time will be disallowed as it's the same as blocking ANY driver on the circuit or in the pit lane.

If he could do a fast time then do it. If you can't then you can't. A sportsman would live with that. But Alonso has proved he's no sportsman...
Ultimately a driver is an employee of a team in the same way a worker in a factory is an employee of the company. If you don't do as you're told you get the boss on your neck.
We'll see...

Ok Bram, from what I remember:

Alonso
Hamilton
Heidfeld
Raikkonen
Rosberg
Schumacher
Kubica
Fisichella
Trulli
Webber

(I might have a mixup or two. And no, it's not a mistake that Massa is out - he's 14th)

Alonso wins pole, but boy did he play dirty by holding up Hamilton in the pits preventing Hamilton from making it out in time to get his last hot lap!!!! This even when Alonso's lollipop man had lifted and still Alonso didn't move out of the way!!!!!!!

Alonso also held up Raikkonen about five minutes into Q3 which is also going to only add to the off-track drama... not that it would have made any difference in qualifying as far as Kimi goes... but I suspect he stole the pole position from Hamilton who had yet another brilliant qualifying session with the best times in all three qualifying rounds... until Alonso's last lap in Q3 and Alonso blocking him in the pits to prevent Hamilton from making his last hot lap.

Judging by the times, it's just going to be a 1 team, 2 person race between the two McLaren drivers... although based on the last race, anything can happen so who knows. Although I suspect at this point, what looked like a great F1 season with 4-5 very competitive drivers and two close teams, now it appears 2007 will just be a 2-person fight for the championship both on the same team and a team marred by controversy over being found guilty of espionage, but so far no punishment, and dirty tricks from Alonso, and constant whining and unprofessional antics from the reigning champion.

Looks like yet another F1 season will end with results that will forever have an asterisk next to it. 👎

Q1 didn't surprise me, especially how bad the Honda's have been going lately, but I didn't expect to see Fisichela barely making it to Q2.

Q2 was very exciting thanks to a incredibly tight race for the last spot to get into Q3 with four drivers (Kubica, Coulthard, Kovalainen, and Wurtz) all posting Q2 times within just two hundreths of a second between them all! Kudos to Fisichela for drastically improving his Q1 time.

Of course, Masa has to be the biggest story of qualifying when he went from 4th in Q1 with a time of 1:20.408, to missing Q3 by losing more than half a second from Q1 to Q2 and dropped all the way to 14th with a time of 1:21.021 - this despite a lengthy garage adjustment and a switch to super-softs before the end of Q2 and still was unable to improve that time. They also blew a chance at another lap by not giving Masa enough fuel!

Q3 was full of drama, as previously noted, and I'm not convinced the fastest driver is in pole position, but I am convinced P1 is being held by a dirty thief. 👎

What was up with Massa's car? He was pressing loads of buttons as he entered the pit lane. But the handling seemed so off. Must have a problem.
Anyway, the McLarens are certainly the two fastest cars. Hopefully Hamilton will win, not simply because I think he's a great driver but because after Alonso's cheating tactic Hamilton deserves it.
Alonso has become a dirty word in my household...🤬

Who have ITV replaced Martin Brundle with? James Allen combined with the Borinator™, who sounds like Alan Partridge in The Day Today ("I dunno what that does"), is sending me to sleep.

*Edit* IT may be Damon Hill, but Brundle is stilll more exciting.

The problem with Damon Hill is that unless he's travelling at 190mph, you need to occasionally shake him to make sure he hasn't died. And even at 190mph, his pulse only barely registers.

The commentator on the German RTL said (during the Alonso blocking-incident): "Alonso's engineers are currently asking him whether he's sure he wants to go out on Hards"... So I'm not 100% sure.

what the hell is the problem with alonso? I was DISGUSTED after what he did...i mean how threatened must he be by holding up lewis like that...he's not even man enough to fight him fairly on the track...i'd fire his arse if i was ron dennis..i dont care if alonso wins 10 championships...no respect...

If that was the case why was ron dennis furious? Surely the engineers would let him know....and just look at the press conference how his body was tilted towards nick...

They don't look happy do they. No Christmas cards between those two!

Just to add, the stewards are looking into an incident between Hamilton and Alonso.
www.autosport.com
The Hungarian Grand Prix stewards are reviewing the incident involving Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton during Saturday's qualifying.

So, bets on what will happen next? And just think all those Alonso fans desperately defending their "hero"! Still, perhaps the stewards think it's okay. Better not as Alonso has essentially brought the sport into disrepute. If he isn't punished in some way then F1 is not a sport.
Of course, maybe there's an innocent explanation?

It's interesting... Michael Schumacher did something quite similar last year (deliberately binning his car, softly, into the barriers at Monaco, blocking Raikonnen's fast lap)...

(not to mention ramming and trying to ram people out of championships. So I won't mention it)

I've heard Alonso's engineer specifically told him through radio to wait.
So Alonso and his engineer are cheats? Although to be fair to Alonso's chief manager, it appears he held Alonso after his pit stop for 20 seconds, or at least that's when his lollipop man gave Alonso the go ahead. Had Alonso left then, and not waited an additional 10 seconds, Hamilton would have easily made it in time to do his final hot lap.

For the record:

Alonso starts his pit stop with 2'15" left in the Q3 session.

The stop is finished in 7 seconds.

Despite finishing the stop, "someone" told the lollipop man to keep him there for another 20 seconds but no one is doing anything to the car.

7 seconds after Hamilton slowly pulls in behind Alonso, the lollipop man finally lifts the lollipop... but amazingly Alonso stays put for another 10 seconds before finally pulling out and letting Hamilton start his pit with only 1'33" left in qualifying!!!!

What makes it all the more incredulous is that by waiting those 30 extra seconds, instead of coming out of the pits well ahead of Kimi, Alonso came out of the pits right in front of Kimi so he had to immediately slow down and let Kimi pass and continued to slow down behind Kimi in order to get clean air and warm up his tires and give himself the opportunity to post the fastest lap.

Truly unbelievable situation, and at the very least yet another example of Alonso's, incredibly poor sportsmanship! 👎👎

As a fan, frankly I feel cheated by Alonso. I was a huge fan of his during the 2005 season and had high hopes for him after that. In 2006 he really began to show his dark side, constantly complaining and whining about this or that, and making childish remarks and antics towards other drivers. I had hoped things would be different when he was fortunate enough to win the 2006 championship and start fresh with a new team, but obviously this is not the case, and he only seems to be getting worse!

What started out as a great F1 season, in fact one of the best in some time, has for me at least been seriously tainted by the unprofessional antics of Alonso and the dark shadow of doubt that surrounds McLaren and their having been caught with all that Ferrari data.

No matter what happens from here on out, there will always be doubt in my mind as to the authenticity of this years F1 results, and if Alonso wins the championship after pulling a stunt like this on his own teammate then I may just take a break from supporting F1 for a while. :grumpy:👎

^^^ alonso's even dirtier than michael i reckon, i mean lewis is his teammate...i know rubins had to give away positions but they were team orders...and the fact that he lied and blame the team for the delay...poor ron dennis, he's had to deal with the spying stuff and now this...i've never seen him so angry esp. when his cars are in the top row...go back to renault loser...

I don't understand why Alonso would do such a thing now. He has just gotten within 2 points of Hamilton and then he does something that might drop him to the back of the grid in a race where qualifying is very crucial.

Surely he could've lived with 2nd place.

I have a feeling that Alonso might be joining Kimi in the Ferrari next season 👍 , or do a Villeneuve and join Prodrive 👎. Certainly doesn't look like he'll be driving for McLaren very long.

I still don't really get it... I mean, take Schumacher's move in Monaco. It might have looked even undeliberated if he crashed or something, but in this case... Dunno, it was SO blatant to stay there for no reason, Alonso should know he's gonna be punished for that. It was a stupid move, coming from him, and it would only make some sense if his engineer told him to wait.

That, and I've never seen him doing such a dirty move, and now everyone's comparing him to Schumacher.

i actually want mclaren to be punished and disqualified now...i'd rather that than dirty alonso winning the championship...i was so happy when michael left..i thought no more dirty tricks...and now this...and lets not forget fisi blocking yamamoto during q1...

he's got this 'god' complex...he thinks he's bigger than the team...at least michael was a team player and loyal to ferrari...

That's a good point. For all Schumachers faults he never put Ferrari in a difficult position (at least not in the same way that Alonso has with McLaren) and never beat up on his team mate (like Alonso did to Hamilton today).

But this has really put more pressure on McLaren and they don't need it from their employee, which is all Alonso is...an expensive and successful employee all the same, but still. If this was a big bank or company and a successful businessman cheated and damaged the integrity of the company would'nt they come down on him hard? (And don't mention Enron...that's an exception to the rule...errr..perhaps).
Point is Alonso has a contract and I wonder has he broken it?

^^i don't know whether he's broken his contract but he's definitely broke ron dennis's heart...how often do you see a team boss so upset when 2 of his drivers are in the top row? Apparently alonso's physio was involved as well..which meant alonso's planned this before qualifying and the team was not involved...how devious...

I've read that too. Don't know how reliable that is. But certainly Dennis got a hold of him pretty damn quick afterwards! But pre-planned? So, not a rush of blood. At least I can kinda' understand that being a reason why someone does something stupid but not if it's pre-planned. That's just..wow...
Alonso's best hope is that the stewards think everything's tickety boo. But I just don't see it happening...
