5 second HAM might end being a meme at this rate
I recall him saying, flatly, on team radio last week "Oh, another one".

This one's his own making if it's pit lane speeding though.

Hamilton has scored more penalties than the entire England World Cup team.

Why did they even pit Lewis under the VSC anyway?

Fantastic race. Now how I wanted it to go for Hamilton, but that was great.

It was unfortunate for Piastri as well, but I suppose that's racing and why reliability is important.

Aston Martin in P13 and P14. Not bad. Went from being absolutely abysmal to being just meh.

Well done Norris well deserved he drove an incredible race

I don't know if the VSC helped him but Stroll did exceptionally well to finish ahead of Alonso. Alonso will get the plaudits for his tyre whispering exploits but fair play to Stroll, he really needed a solid finish.

Maybe. We discovered the nuances of the pit lane timing system in Monaco, when a third of the grid got them (a quarter of them in the race) and it overtly affected the podium with one driver getting theirs overturned and another getting a second penalty for the team failing to serve the incorrect first one correctly.

Driver error is most likely, vehicle limiter software error next, and apparently FIA systems error is now on the list too.

Congrats to Lando. Sucks for Oscar. That potential 1-2 would've been a great result for McLaren's WCC.

Pretty surprising podiums for Max and Kimi.

Ferrari should've finished higher.

Hulk points!

Astons doing less worse.

Yeah understandable, but the soft tyre offset wasn't as massive as they thought. Personally i thought it was the correct decision, maybe they should have seen Verstappens pace on them wasn't that great.

Yeah agreed, the Monaco debacle was one of the most unprofessional and messed up situations Ive seen in recent memories. How accurate are the timers? We know that F1 drivers have some of the greatest reflexes in the world so its rare for them to make a mistake.

I'm sitting here wondering if the contact between Sainz and Oscar was what caused Oscar's gearbox to eventually let go? It was definitely a decent hit, so the vibrations may have broken something in the McLaren.

Also, F1 Movie theme jumpscare.

Monaco was a unique situation in that a valid line into pit entry caused a shortening of the distance between timing loops, by about 80cm. At the 60km/h limit the cars would travel that distance fractionally quicker than expected and register a higher speed despite not speeding.

The joke there was not solving the problem after four drivers copped penalties on Saturday, and then only walking back one of the five in-race under a right of review (they can't be appealed directly).

That's it for me today, while I didn't talk as much as the last race, it was nice to see you all during the race. See you in Dutch GP after the Summer Break.

Oh yeah i read about the shortened detection zones and how it caught so many drivers out, and as you said its crazy that even after Saturday, it spilled through to the Sunday race... Absolute debacle. I didnt know they couldnt appeal it either, thats mental.

Apparently Lewis went 0.1 KPH over the limit in the pits, which IIRC was the same amount of speed for the drivers that got penalized in Monaco.

Now, since it was only 1 driver this time around, it's a much less egregious situation (and honestly could 100% be down to mis-timing on Lewis' part), but it does slightly increase the skepticism I have towards the FIAs pit timing systems.

That was alright, but Piastri was seriously lacking pace compared to Norris. The DNF kind of masked that.

All doesn't seem well in the McLaren camp, I've never heard Piastri so pent up and angry on the radio, not just the rant about Sainz but multiple times throughout the race he was not his usual calm self.

Edit: when I say McLaren camp, I mean specifically on Oscar's side. Lando actually seems pretty chipper.

I seen that he started using that gearbox in Monaco, that's a lot of hard miles. It seems like it was on it's last legs anyway, maybe that's why he wasn't that quick either.

Yeah but that's total BS. The McLarens have been fast enough to lead races for 3 years now, so if you see an Orange/Papaya car in your mirrors (which are there for a reason), move the **** out of the way.
He deserved a penalty....but the vid is showing loads of blue flag lights and him "ignoring" them when even Antonelli was seeing them:

It would be more accurate (but less funny) to show when he was seeing the marshal's blue flags.

There's also this:

"At the point of the incident, the positioning of Car 55 relative to the circuit and the other cars meant that Car 81 was not visible to the driver of Car 55 prior to the attempted overtake. Although the driver had been informed that Car 81 was approaching, the Stewards accepted that the limited visibility reduced the degree of culpability."

Whether that is good enough to reduce the penalty is debatable (I mean, he was made aware by his engineer), but it might not be as simple as him ignoring his mirrors.
