Is Ferrari trying to ruin Vettel's mental health? Also why would the put on Hards when he nursed Mediums for well over half the race?

Ferrari forgot Vettel was still running and defaulted to LeClerc's strategy.

Given a normal pit stop, he would have already. Mercedes told Bottas he was one second "unsafe" - Hamilton could have pitted and retained the lead by one second. The 15-second VSC has just ensured it, by giving him 7-8 more seconds.

The VSC hasn't given it to him, his efforts in running fast laps while preserving tyres for 10 laps longer created the gap to have him back in the lead - and Mercedes wouldn't exactly let Bottas challenge at that point, plus he's having to defend from Verstappen in a damaged car. However the VSC has all but eliminated any potential challenge from behind.

Absolutely right on that. It just looked very suspicious. Perhaps this is why Imola should be a 1 and done.
 
If Vettel fell into a barrel of tits he'd come out sucking his thumb.

Yeah, Hamilton already had a narrow lead on merit. Calling the VSC when they did for as long as they did was not good optics, however.
 
Kimi onto softs for the rest of the race, hopefully.

As great as this is by Räikkönen, he'll be 13th/14th after he pits.
