A gap of <1s and he "Gave the advantage back"
 
Interesting position from the stewards there that Hamilton backed off enough to give any advantage gained from cutting the chicane back to Verstappen as it was before the overtake "attempt".


Looks like a case of the Bull who cried Wolff to me...

After Horners comments last week, I'd be dumbfounded if Masi didn't give Horner the proverbial finger this weekend.

Agreed. This is racing after all, of course he was going to go for that move. Genuinely cannot understand the people throw accusations at Max there. Perhaps they should go back to watching cricket or something.
 
That's the championship in my eyes.
 
On a different note, as it stands Red Bull would win the Constructors title. Bottas not having a great start so far.

Also, I think I'd be good if the FIA-Team radio broadcasts weren't a thing next year.
 
While the debate continues between the Sky team, Christian Horner and others, Vettel and Stroll demonstrate exactly what Verstappen should have done.
 
That's ridiculous. He got in front, stayed on track. Lewis just drove straight through the corner.

This move was a joke at the time, and still Rosberg is nowhere near the white line on the outside. Max went for that because he knew that if it didn't work they'd just crash and he'd be champion. Seeing as Max's lunge was from Senna-Prost levels of stupid far back, no wonder the stewards told Max and Red Bull to go stuff themselves.
 
The were next to each other at the apex, and LH had 1+ sec at the end of the lap. That sounds like an advantage to me. That is a bigger gap than there was at the start of the braking zone even.
 
Not sure what to think of that. The pass was a tad aggressive, but I think Hamilton should've seen that coming and been more aggressive in covering him. No investigation necessary, but the reasoning isn't bulletproof on giving the advantage back. Stewards seem to be hesitant to affect anything.
 
Max has no one but to blame himself, that was a bad start at launch. Was he daydreaming there?
 
Not over just yet with Perez in play to be a spoiler. Bottas needs to get going, though.
 
Where did lewis give back the advantage when he was only 1s in front before the turn and after he was >1s

Mercedes will be happy to have Valtteri exactly where he is... he could be in front of Verstappen after he has to stop, and Bottas is on medium tyres so will hold up Verstappen massively.

edit: By Lap 15 Verstappen should come out in front of Bottas, but Verstappen is already moaning about the tyres.

I'm not sure I've seen you around these parts - hi - but you're right. Hopefully Valtteri is able to preserve his tires.
