Silly from Merc. He had the pace, even without track position he'd have been the one on far fresher tyres and better raw pace.

Lewis maybe should have pitted on that second lap when the VSC was still out as he got to the pit entry

I'll give the stewards the consistency for this race.
 
If HAM pitted and VER didn't then HAM would have been about 10 seconds behind on fresher tyres and more raw pace.

I guess they just didn't want to risk HAM having to pass VER on track though.
 
If lewis pushes too hard on the hards, he will wear them out even faster, but he has no choice.
 
Having attempted to go banzai on Tsunoda earlier, Alonso's lost out to Gasly under DRS. Toro Rossos now in 7th and 8th.

Merc will shoot themselves in the foot for not pitting Lewis under that VSC
 
Alonso ans Gasly had very good place with 39 laps old hard tires. They only pitted because of VSC.

This song just popped into my head, and it seems appropriate given the circumstances.

 
Seems like Verstappen's advance has stalled a bit. It's been about 14 seconds. Hamilton needs to manage his tires. Max needs 1 second per lap.
