I wonder whether the teams pack away any additional fire extinguishers/equipment last... if they don't, they really need to change that procedure, hope there's no life threatening injuries.

What a turn-around, I go from being an "ignorant" so and so, to the one who sparks (no pun intended) a major talking point, in a matter of seconds :)

That's horrible! Hope everyone is OK, and great job by all the mechanics to put the fire out. Not how a great day for Williams should end.

4 people in the medical centre, a Williams crew member working on the fuel tank has burns to his lower legs apparently.

Not the time to brag about a massive life threatening fire. Especially when you didn't bring it up.

And besides, I believe it is under control, but I don't know.

It is nice to see that every members from different teams all helped to put out the fire together. As said, if not because of this things could've been much worse!

Seems like one of the Force India mechanic has been inspected and not in a serious condition. Just an excess inhalation of the smoke.

Sky have said one Force India mechanic, with smoke inhalation, he is being checked in the in course clinic but nothing serious.

If it wasn't for all the mechanics steaming down the pit lane with extinguishers, it would have been worse.

Reports when I last heard said few. Including as Tom said a Force India member and a few Williams I believe.

Hopefully it's all under control.
Thanks and well done to all of the pit teams for putting the fire out so quickly.

It is good to see all the F1 teams unite together behind safety issues, it is a shining example of co-operative power, but also the skill involved in such situations.

So it's confirmed that a Sky cameraman was helping a guy out of the garage who's legs were on fire.

Yup, full credit to all the engineers, mechanics and the camera man who fought to put the fire out and pull everybody out of there.

Agreed, massive praise has to go to the training all the teams go through for these situations. Williams team had three hoses out very quickly.

Seeing that it is a major sporting event, with lots of hazardous and potentially explosive items involved, I was astonished how long it took for the Fire brigade to turn up.

Ditto. I suspect that that is something which will looked at and changed in the very near future.

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out they were packing up as well.

Seriously hope everyone's alright. But that's two close calls this year (pending the outcome). Not just on-track safety to consider.

And finally, an image from inside the garage:

Nasty fire, the garage is an absolute wreck. Glad that most people got out safe. It could've been so much worse!

It is fairly odd, normally fire services or any of the emergency services for that matter, are located trackside.

They were at the far end of the pitlane. Nearer the Red Bull and McLaren garages.

im surprised garages don't have to have mandatory sprinklers.. im also annoyed that sky who have a dedicated F1 channel have stopped broadcasting!

Sprinklers would spray electronics within the garages and make things worse.

Probably stopped broadcasting because a Sky cameraman help a mechanic who was on fire out of the garage.

They have schedules. Their programming was supposed to finish at 4.30, they continued to 4.45.
There wasn't a lot happening as the Police had cordoned off the pit area.
