Red Bull haven't been the fastest at all the previous tracks because of superior top speed, no it's because of having superior downforce, their advantage is all in the corners, but as far as straights go, Red Bull is behind. Montreal relies far more on straightline speed and far less on downforce, as there aren't that many corners, and the few that are there don't need that much downforce.

Ok, now you're going into criticism of Ferrari fans. I didn't even say that Ferrari will win, I was just saying that it wasn't impossible. You're just saying "Alonso won't win." like it's a law of Physics and can't be broken. And, I brought forth valid points and reasons as to why Ferrari have a chance at victory.

Ferrari fans are deluded. They concoct these wild theories about how Ferrari will win all these races, but the core component of their argument seems to be "Ferrari will win because they are Ferrari".

That's quite ironic. The core of your argument seems to stem around the fact that, "Ferrari will lose because they are Ferrari and because I want to see them fail." And because of your deep seeded hatred of Ferrari, you will go to whatever extent to disregard a race where Ferrari for once have a strong chance to fight for victory. If you can't accept this simple fact, then I don't know what to tell you.

My prediction was just that - a simple, light hearted prediction that no one should take to heart or try and argue over in attempt to prove it wrong (as you have done), unless you have some type of strong insecurity on the matter. I'm not the one claiming who will win and lose as if it is some type of fact (or the holy grail), while trying to bust other peoples balls because I am the authority, and the one who knows for a fact that "Alonso won't win". Of course I want to see Ferrari win, but I wouldn't have made a completely baseless prediction (I'm not claiming it to be some fact) had I thought Ferrari were a contender for victory this weekend.

This. I'm pretty sure if the script were flipped, we would be getting all kinds of flack for being so opinionated/authoritive on the manner though

No, the core of my argument is "Ferrari will lose, because based on what we've seen from them so far this year, other teams are considerably stronger".

You're entitled to your opinion. If you want to disregard some of the aspects I've brought to the table (as to why Ferrari can fight for victory at Montreal) that's fine...I just have no reason to listen to you in that case, especially when you are the one trying to shoot down my simple, light hearted predicition.

Enough of the bickering, let's see what happens on Sunday mate 👍

Edit: I thought I'd add in some comical relief

Come on, Interludes, I'm sure that in your Mod days you'd have stamped out a flame like that before you could say "It isn't Tuesday" :D

You're better than that ;)

It's not a flame. It's an opinion. I've found an increasing incidence of Ferrari fans with a stubborn refusal to face reality. If they were trundling around behind Hispania, I'm sure the fans could concoct a reason as to why they would still win the next race.

I'm a Ferrari fan, always have been.

I'm also (I think) a realist who sees that Ferrari is a team with fundamental problems that they carry blindly from season to season.

If I'm deluded about anything it's probably my dancing...

Champions Corner strikes again! And its Vettel!

I hope you're not referring to me  For now I'm just going to be quiet and see what the results bring this weekend. We'll see who the fool is afterwards.

BBC stream has lost video, I hate listening to what is happening without video.

This thread is quite tonight.

Hmmm...I'm thinking Mercedes could be a dark horse for this weekend (as Button predicted). Although even if they do bag pole or a slot torward the very front, their race will likely fall apart a bit due to their tire issues (especially on the super softs), unless they have miraciously resolved this issue overnight.

Should be one hell of a weekend I'm guessing :)

Snap oversteer over the chicane, locked the fronts, ate the wall.

That photo before the impact looks like the suspension at the front right dosen't look right or is it just the angle of the photo?

Exactly my thoughts too. It looks like the right wheel turned slightly more to the left than the left wheel...

I totally agree about Mercedes being way better in practice than races, its the same with Red Bull in qualifying.

But, if I remember the times correctly, Rosberg was 6 tenths or so faster than the next car, and Schumi was 3rd, which is a great result for a 42 year old man.

Did they mention anything about suspension failure?

If the race is anything like this practice session I couldn't stand watching. This is getting ridiculous.

I like how the crane blends in with the trees, makes it look like the Virgin is flying.

Is it the tires that's causing all the crashes?
