a safer obviously would have easily avoided this situation.

Not at all obvious. Grosjean survived a very short deceleration, however unfortunate the method. I'm not sure how a shorter decel might have helped that.

Max could have been right with Lewis if he didn't have that pit stop fail

Hamilton probably chatting with Roscoe right now.

Albon is hopeless. Can't even pressure a racing point.

Solid race by Albon. Too little too late I guess.

Solid 9th for Bottas /s

Another fireball!!

Finish behind safety car probably

get off the racing line already u muppet.

Who said that CSP exhaust flames in AC are sometimes 'over the top' ;)

I bet Albon now keeps his seat because he gets a podium...

First double Red Bull podium in a very long time then (at least 2017?)

Edit: Japan 2017 if I'm not mistaken

22 points for McLaren

And none for Racing Point, the race for 3rd place in WCC keeps on giving.

Highly dramatic race!

Glad Grosjean and Stroll were OK. Sucks that Kvyat was caught in the center of all that, and super sucks that Perez's race went up in smoke so close to a podium.

On the plus side, McLaren got a nice points haul, Ricciardo moved up in the WDC, and Albon finally got a bit of good luck.

Ferrari needs to gain 40 points if they would want P3 still

Apparently Grosjean broke two toes

Staggering how Romain Grosjean walked away from that accident... and as others have said, without the Halo he surely would have been killed. Those pictures of Grosjean emerging from the flames are quite unbelievable, and it is a testament to the incredible safety measures within F1 today... it still beggars belief what actually happened, but the fact that Grosjean only has relatively minor injuries is as close to a miracle as you're likely to see. Very happy for him and the team that he lives to fight another day.

The look of a man walking from hell and back.
I'm just glad that he's alright considering the severity of the crash.

Grosjean is DOTD as well, but I guess van der Merwe deserves that title as well.

Here's another picture of the safety cell, showing the narrow space Romain had to escape.

The balance is that it was through a mechanical failure on his seat rival's car, if there's truth in that particular rumour. Still a great recovery drive though.
