Thinking about it, it was the only right choice to make. If it wasn't gonna be red, they needed the full wets. If it was red, precedent is that the order goes back one lap, so it wouldn't matter.
It's not necessarily the lap before, so there's a bit more risk as they could go by sector. But it's not the worst call we've seen today.

The exact wording is this:
In all cases the order will be taken at the last point at which it was possible to determine
the position of all cars. All such cars will then be permitted to resume the sprint session
or the race.

Rolling start and I assume no DRS, they could have done this behind the SC 30 min ago and this would be the post race show.

What is the point of full wet tires when they just stop the race everytime they have an occasion to use them? They might as well not have them.

I mean, Japan 2014 is one time they screwed up with this so they seem gun-shy to try again.

Good addition to the race notes. No point making them start on a tyre they can never actually race on.
Crofty was just talking how in one second, the full wet tires remove a bath tub-ful of water...let's defnitely not use them in wet conditions then!

That is what all of us have been wondering since years ago.

Edit: LMAO, PEREZ
