A new era begins for the Circuit de Catalunya as it begins a rotational year-on-year-off contract opposite to Spa-Francorchamps, as this circuit falls off the calendar for 2027. The Spanish Grand Prix may have moved to the Madring, but Barcelona's contract ran to 2026, necessitating the creation of a new race and the return to Spain being a nation with multiple Grand Prix in a season. Mercedes are still the team to beat, sorry, Kimi Antonelli is still the driver to beat, as the Italian youngster has now won 5 races on the bounce with incredible consistency for a teenager. The second-youngest driver on the grid leads the championship from the second-oldest in Lewis Hamilton, who jumps up to 2nd after another podium in Monaco. Can George Russell get some momentum back on his side? Can any other team get a victory? Can half the grid remember to avoid cutting corners in the pitlane? We will only find out at the BARCELONA-CATALUNYA GRAND PRIX!

What is with the blue rain light?
I thought green was used for drivers without super licenses.
But this blue light was also on Norris car during FP2 when driven by Norris.
 
Quite an unusual place to go off for Leclerc, that late in the corner.
Surprisingly hard hit as well
 
Lewis in P2 is a big surprise. I didn't think Ferrari was in the game at all, let alone Lewis. He was close enough too that he could have been P1. Hopefully, he'll have the long race pace to keep up with the Merc and who knows, maybe even beat them. Wishful thinking I know, after all the Merc look very very composed on this track. They really built themselves a really great car this year.

If Ferrari plays the strategy right, I think they can get Charles or Lewis a podium finish, hopefully a P1.

So we get pit stop times to 1/1000th but interval times are to 1/10th
It stops dont need 1/1000th resolution, but interval times do
.

That could not have worked out better for Lewis.

2025 was the year of Lewis depression, 2026 will be the year of George depression
 
Lewis would be the oldest race winner since Fangio in 1957

Edit: was looking at the wrong table, it's actually Brabham in 1970. Still 56 years ago though
