Formula 1 crossed the Atlantic for the second time this season as it heads up to Montreal for the last time in June at least. The circuit has hosted F1 races since the 70's and still feels like a proper old-school circuit while still being relevant in the modern era. Feeling like the kind of parkland narrow circuit F1 keeps trying to replicate with it's new "street" circuits, the master is still the best. Last season was a classic wet/dry race won by Max Verstappen, who started from 2nd on the grid after the closest qualifying session since Jerez 1997 as him and George Russell set identical times on a perfectly neat 1:12.000 for the front row. Qualifying has been insanely close in the dry this season, so can we see a repeat this year at the CANADIAN GRAND PRIX!

Apparently Stroll will be taking part in the Canadian GP. I'm guessing he really doesn't want someone else driving his car and exposing him! Lol!
Lance: "If anyone is gonna embarrass me in front of my home, its gonna be me alone!!" Lawrence sheading a tear "That's my boy"

Imagine going from getting tickets to watch the talents of the Villenueves & Tracy or the potential of Greg Moore and James Hinchliff to now showing up just to see this guy flounder in the back.

He's already exposed...I think him trying to keep his head down worked in the beginning of the season but now dude has gone back to full spoiled rich kid mode...also Newey is probably having none of what Lance offers

Crashes for Leclerc and Stroll (of course) in practice. Damage was bad enough on Charles’ car for
him to miss FP2.

It doesn't seem likely that Colapinto will last more than 5 races at Alpine. I wonder which driver would replace him.

Have McLaren been caught up? They haven’t been as far ahead as usual in practice so far this weekend.

Alonso up with the big boys. Meanwhile Stroll out in Q1. How long can this joke continue?

For as long as his dad owns the team 😒

That aside, it's all so close between all the drivers. It doesn't feel like a guaranteed 1-2 for McLaren, although that still can't be discounted.

Russell on pole ahead of Max again. Piastri 3rd. Norris 7th - Rosberg in shambles. Kimi 4th after I dropped him from my fantasy team - you’re welcome kid. Hamilton 5th and ahead of Leclerc.

Give George a new contract Toto.

Put £5 on Russell to get pole.... Nice work at 4/1! Way to go Gorgeous George

Also, Hadjar / RB absolutely knew what they were doing holding up Sainz in Q1. Awful.

Looking at some of the replays of the runs, the McLarens are not as composed as they've been since the start of the season. Their race pace look strong yesterday but all the other 3 teams are not that far off so hopefully that means we'll have a proper race in our hands tomorrow.

Montreal tends to shake up the grid and it hasn't disappointed. Russell's pole lap was incredibly smooth and composed, one of the best poles this season along with Verstappen's in Suzuka and Hamilton's in China. Unfortunately I think Mercedes race pace is a bit lacking.

On another note, the Ferrari's rear grip is lacking once again. That seems to be the major issue with Hamilton at the moment as his driving style is very reliant on it.

It's interesting seeing his past racing in smaller cars and seeing how true this is to his driving style. He has a tendency to throw the car into the corner and rely on the rear grip - from what I recall, people pretty much considered him to be a tire shredder back then. I hope they can provide a better car as he gets antiquated with Ferrari, though the politics are making that seem like wishful thinking.

Russel's lap was great - I'm really curious about how it will turn out lol, we will see by the first lap.
